Forza Motorsport 7: General Discussion

Frankly, the Forza Motorsport name as a whole holds cache mainly because it offers something that no other sim in the market does: a large toybox of cars that you can play with however you want. That is what Forza has always excelled at. That's what gave it the jump it needed when it came to Forza 2 and the massive head start that T10 and Microsoft had on Sony and PD at the start of the last console generation. Aside from the homologation system, this is done well in Forza 7.

It's everything else that is the problem. It's the bugs, the glitches, the poor choices for car packs, lack of new content, etc. Something like that can be fixed, and you aren't throwing the baby out with the bath water trying to chase after trends that may or may not work out for you as a company.

I may be burnt out on the Motorsport games, but I can see why it has sustained itself for so long, and why people like it. So why risk doing something like what you described when it can very easily alienate a wide swath of the player base?

Besides, going to be brutally honest here, if T10 did make that hypothetical 'hardcore sim racer' and targeted it towards people like on this very forum, who have access to other sim racers on both the Xbox One, PS4, and PC, I think a lot of people would be skeptical. This is anecdotal, but I have seen sim racers on PC look at Forza 6: Apex and Forza 7 with curiosity, finding that it isn't up to snuff compared to PCARS, AC or other even more niche simulators, and going on their merry way. Is this what you want to be targeting? A market that, even on consoles, is quite picky and usually is static on games they prefer?

Somewhat, but not abandoning the Forza Motorsport. The sim I proposed would have been in addition to Motorsport and Horizon. Something for that finicky niche crowd who write off all versions and aspects of Forza.

Forza's been getting stale for while, they need something completely fresh like adding bikes or proper rally stages for Motorsport, and again bikes, boats and planes for Horizon along with much bigger play spaces. The Crew 2 looks promising already with all the different disciplines and a huge map, PG should take note.

I’d rather Forza focus on improving existing aspects of the game before trying to throw in vehicles that aren’t cars into the mix.

They'd still probably write it off. Remember when PCars was the new kid on the block and the never-ending "simcade" accusations? Some people still haven't gotten over it.

You're right. That is a tough crowd to please. Once branded a Simcade, always branded a Simcade. LOL.

Either way, Turn 10 will never make a serious sim, so I'll give up on hoping they would. I just hope they tighten up what they've already made, but even that may be foolish to wish for.

Question:
When I have Fuel and Tire Wear on but not Quick Stops, would the AI still pit if they are low on fuel and tires?

This is the crux of the issue. Sim racers will throw around 'simcade' willy-nilly to the point where the term becomes a slur (Even though for some games like the old PGR series, it fits it perfectly) and really just drives home how insular and often times needlessly vicious the sim racing genre is.

But like PJ said, I'd rather have a game that works and isn't a buggy and rehashed piece of **** then have T10 and related studios stretched even further to the limit then they already are.

I mean what do you expect, after 7 iterations the same problems persist, features getting cut, etc. I'd rather get some new gameplay.

Well, I've had my Xbox for a bit.. got Horizon 3 right away and just got FM7 tonight. It's currently installing. You can add me if you guys want, YungThugga08 is my name. Same as my PSN name.

Yes, although they're usually better on tire wear than you'll be.

Wait, how do you know why they're pitting? I always just assumed that it was for fuel, since they pit around the time I get a fuel alert.

I noticed it that showcase event at Sebring in the Ford GT, I had to pit every 14 or 15 laps because my tires were shot, but a few of the AI cars could go 16-17 laps per stint. In some free play scenarios I've toyed with, they'll also be better on fuel around certain tracks.

I don't know if it's the best place to ask, but my Xbox won't start. When i press the button on the front nothing happens. When i plug the power supply in the wall, the light goes orange(no white, no blinking.) I read somewhere it might be because the power supply was plugged in a power strip and it sort off killed the brick. Do you think this would be the case and all i need is a new power supply?

I might go to EBGames in the next few days to see if they can test my power supply and maybe buy a new one.

Looks like they didnt pay our dues!

Kinda need that 500k whatever. I think Forza 7 brings me back to the Forza 5 experience where you buy a car for say 200k and the problem is you might use it for ONE race series in single player and you only earn 12,000 per race or whatever so you never make back the money you paid for the car in the first place...

The new paint/livery settings make things so much easier when it comes to applying decals to both sides of the car, it's just a question of mirroring and flipping now.

And adjusting angles. Although that, too, should be easier, thanks to the new snap options. Haven't tried those out yet tho.

Are the mirror/snap tools also available in the Create Vinyl Group editor?

I make all of my logos in Forza Horizon 3 but this might tempt me to start using Forza Motorsport 7.

I doubt it's because the power supply is plugged into a power strip. I've my Xbox for 2? years and it's always been plugged into a power strip, I have had no issues.

Which is what I wanted to illustrate when I posted this in the photo thread...

Overall this blurb took me 15 minutes. 90% of the time was spent on the text. After I had the text set (and made a friggen comma!!!) pasting it on the car was simple.

Now that we got flipping, snaps and mirroring; can we start to petition to get text setting tools?

You can flip vertically and horizontally wile in the Decal Creator. Mirror only comes into play when working on the car. I didn't figure out how to get the snaps to work.

I'd be more excited if this feature was guaranteed to to be in future games. But knowing T10, we'd probably never see it again.

So now I have this strange issue where I still have cars that I could potentially get the 400k discount when leveling up, but the cars are repeating themselves. I unfortunately got fooled into getting another McLaren F1GT. Joy.

I just do the 50,000 credit bonus whenever I level up since I have all the cars.
