I finally decided to increase my race lengths in career to long. I just did 7 laps on Nurburgring GP with a BMW M3 FE with one of my VIP mods equiped, it was a great idea. Nearly 20 minutes of racing and I managed to gain 100,000 cr from the race plus 70,000 cr from my level up money plus a cash prize.

EDIT: Ah, so the upgrade heroes from FH3 are still featured here, they just been renamed as something else.

I did play the game for some time today (mainly free play randomness). The new time (kinda) and weather system is awesome. The track that really looked stunning to me was Prague at sunset/evening. It just looked so awesome I just kept switching the cameras and looking around while driving and the sound when you are going through the tunnel is crazy. Few small things/bugs I noticed are:
-I have chosen the 2017 Nissan GTR for my first Free Play, apparently there is an issue with the brake lights, they don't work. Only the third one on the spoiler does.
-After that I tried the C5 Corvette and the headlights were open all the time despite being turned off.
-I switched the units and while looking at cars in free play (rental) I noticed that Peugeot 308 GTI has 300hp. And It's the 2011 model. I don't think it had that much in real life.
-Nissan Skyline R33 has about 400hp which seems like a bit too much for a stock car (maybe I'm wrong?) and It's a lot more than the R34, yet the R34 has higher car rating.
-The online looks kinda limited. There are just three or four classes to choose from, no drift, drag etc. lobbies.
-The SLR McLaren is still missing for some reason. Both McLaren and Mercedes manufactures are in the game, It seems like some strange licensing issue here, it was okay in Forza 6 though, I'm curious what happened.
-I'm not a fan of that menu music. It's a matter of preference though. I'll just use Spotify or some mp3s on pendrive.
-The whole garage thing seems... different. When in Forzavista the game has some weird Car Mechanic Simulator vibe to it. Also the garage is pretty dark compared to the location in Forza 6 so you sometimes don't see the cockpit very well.
Sorry for my English. ;)

I take back what I said about HP in certain cars. Nissan R33 and Peugeot 308 have the power stats right (I beieve). I don't know why Peugeot had 300hp yesterday and Nissan almost 400 but I wasn't right. Peugeot has 197 and Nissan has 278.

It's probably because the cars you saw yesterday were homologated

11hrs in and I'm absolutely loving it, The visuals are stunning on Xbox One S

Brain out and chill, such a fun game to play

Only comment really is that the drivatards are stupidly easy to beat even on unbeatable

I'm confused about the loyalty rewards... I got a screen showing some loot crates and pictures of the various tiers I have, but they don't seem to be actually gifted to me.

What do loyalty tiers actually give us apart from the weekly credits payout which you trigger in Forza Hub?

I have just found an evil race in my mind. Lancia Stratos at hokeinheim ring or however it is spelt in the rain. Wait I should be quiet it could be Nurburgring

You get some special racing suits themed around past Forza games and the aforementioned loot crates. There's been a bit of screwiness about gifted items activating properly though... I had to exit the game, load up another game to get Forza out of the console's memory, then restart Forza to get the game to actually recognize it needed to gift me the stuff. I guess that forces it to check the server for unclaimed items.

Spa has them - I started a race in the Early Protos series at night and, much to my relief, after a couple of laps the sun began to rise. Don't know about Le Mans, but seeing as every other track features some measure of dynamic TOD, I'd say that's a given.

Yesterday I drove three night laps on the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit where I couldn't really tell whether the sunset / sunrise was static or not, hence the reason why I wasn't sure. You're probably right though. I just ran three night laps at Yas Marina which gradually went darker, but the faint sunlight never disappeared entirely. On other occasions night racing appears to transition to or from pitch black darkness, so I guess there are variations like those on the daytime setting. It would be nice if players could control TOD settings in the same way we can customize rain sessions over three transitional stages.

I seem to ask this every damn year while the answer never changes, but, does the RX-7 have the Spirit R kit yet?

Kinda incredible that the Spirit R wasn't one of the cars revived for FM7. Instead we got a fairly unknown Mazda ALMS LMP from several years ago. Funny priority, but I suppose that's the American twist Forza is known for.

Not really, the Forza community has never stopped screaming at them to put in more obscure race cars over anything else, Because Race Car.

Is it just me, or are Drivatar liveries broken? I don't like being the only guy in the race with a livery.
I think they might be waiting until Tuesday to turn that on just to give some time for us early adopters to post up enough liveries to make it work properly.

Been doing the previously mentioned Farming method involving the Ram Runner at the Test Track Airfield, did it several times for about an hour and I'm happy with the results but did get a little boring after a while, it got me thinking if it works with any of the other FE cars, I do have the Escort Cosworth FE with 30% extra credits and 5000 extra XP and its not tied to a track like the Runner....

I mentioned this earlier as well, not only is it less snore-inducing but it also means you'll be working towards the achievement for night racing as well. Plus the Cossie is a real joy to drive. :)

But yeah, FE cars with XP bonuses attached are going to be hot items for people who are impatient and want to max everything out immediately.

Well after playing the game the last 3 days I think that they have did a pretty good job but still need to address a few issues.
On the plus side.
I like the new dash cam view quite a bit. I had always felt that the cockpit cam seemed like you were to far away and never liked seeing the wheel on the screen. dash cam is something I had thought would be a good addition for some time and now that it is there I do like it better than the normal cockpit cam.
While test drive is now a bit hidden in freeplay I think it is better than before as now when building/tuning a car you can go pick your track, load it then go to upgrades or test drive. You can drive your car, pause, tweak, resume like before but now you can quickly exit the test drive, go to upgrades, buy some stuff and put it on the car then right back to test drive for more tuning without the hassle of having to pick the track again and wait for it to load. For some of us this is a very good thing.

I like the new classes or should I say divisions they have came up with. There have been many cars in Forza that I have liked but they have ended up in the same class with other types of cars where they can not compete. This new division system changes that in a good way. If they give us the open rival section for all of these divisions for all tracks like they had did with the open class rivals in FM6 then that will be pretty sweet.

And of course one of the biggest pluses of all is that now it can be played on a pc with the wheels we bought for the 360 or even PS3 or other and we can still do the rivals events against our friends who are using an XBox. I have not tried to run an online race yet with anyone who was on the Xbox while I was on the PC but I see no reason to think that will not work also.

On the down side.
The biggest issues I have so far are
No open rivals section [I think this is something that is coming soon and if so then would not be an issue]
Graphical issues on some tracks. Daytona and Indy especially.
On either of these tracks after a while the game starts to lag behind while drawing the track and surrounding area. The faster the car the more of an effect it seems to have. At first it will be flashes of white in the distance that get closer and larger as you keep playing then parts of the track are not drawn until you are already driving on it. A restart of the game corrects the issue but it will come back after driving for a while. I have not had it crash as a result of this but earlier today I think it did crash on my brother while he was trying to complete 50 laps on the brickyard.
So far those are the only tracks I have saw the issue on but I have read on the official forums that the problem does exist on other tracks as well.
I have had 1 crash while browsing wheels in the upgrade shop and once the game got stuck in an infinite save loop while trying to get a car with a custom paint job selected. I had to close the app and restart. When I re-entered the car was there but did not have the paint on it.
No option to add AI to a private lobby and no way to open a user created lobby to the public.
Still no tuning options in multiplayer lobbies. I had heard this was coming back but it appears the lobby they were talking about was single player free play.

Edit: Another thing I forgot to mention. Once in a rivals race my rival had no car, just 4 rims going around the track. I also saw something like this once with one of the AI cars in a free play race.

Before anyone makes the same mistake I did and drops 100k on the Ram Runner FE to see if you can get the 7500xp from the drag strip on the test track airfield, you can't. :(

You will have more luck on the circuit version of Test Track Airfield.

I know, but a fully upgraded Ram Runner can do the 1/4 mile in 10 seconds, whereas the minimum time to complete the circuit is 30 seconds if you set it to a timed race. Being able to effectively double your XP gain when you factor in loading times would be amazing.

You can change the race lengths in career?

Speaking of tiers, just got to Tier 11... nothing happened. So Tier 10 is the max for "increased reward" or whatever. Kinda annoyed it never goes above 50k, it's not really worth the time.

Just finished the Corvette C7R Endurance showcase. Best done with Unbeatable AI & full Simulation (fuel & tires) for the best challenge. Just set aside time to do it: it's 46 laps at Spa, just under 2 hours, & likely require 2 pit stops. It doesn't pay a ton, but if you complete it early on, you can move up quite a few driver levels and pick up the cash/cars through that. And of course, you're gifted the locked C7R afterwards. It's a very, old-school Gran Turismo race.

Also, enjoying the random transitions. This was at Yas Marina as the sun was coming up on a 10 lap race. They may not be the perfect day-to-night cycle, but they are a nice breathe of fresh air with some the tracks.

Finally got few few proper hours during saturday and finished Seeker...oh dear - WHAT A GAME !! Sure there are things i dont like-need to remember car classes and not overtune them with wrong parts :D
The environment is second to none,skies..and the handling and physics much better than FM6,more refined,im so cant wait for my free time and start adding you guys from gamertag thread so i can do MP races with you ;)
Game is just stunning in every way,and just imagine what they will add in coming months..

I've encountered a few weird things so far, but nothing game breaking:

  • There's still an AI hare that runs away from the field from time to time; it's very intermittent and on the long race setup you'll usually catch up to it after a few laps, but people using the normal length setting might run into some trouble if they plan on winning every race. It's not as bad as it was in FM6 and even FH3, but hopefully that'll get patched up soon enough.
  • For some reason the drivatar name bars over the cars are mostly blank, the only ones that show the drivatar's names are the ones in your friend list.
  • I've been getting a lot more of the popping/misfiring engine sounds, it doesn't seem to affect the car's performance but it's quite annoying to hear. Also every time you hit pause there's a slight hang with the engine noise for about half a second, too.
  • Side mirrors on the NC Miata and FE BRZ are simply not there from the outside view and on the drivatar cars.
With that said, here's a few of my impressions.

The Dubai track is terrible.

The drivatars have definitely improved a bit. They're still a bit stupid and the race starts are only best described as chaotic, but at least they won't move out of your way when you try to overtake them and will actually counter your move if you leave them a gap. I had a good race at VIR against two BMW M2s that lasted several laps until I finally managed to break away from them; that left me genuinely grinning as I've never had a proper challenge from the AI. That's not to say it's perfect, they're still way too slow around Sonoma, for instance, even on the Pro/80% level I'm lapping 7-8 seconds faster than them.

Dubai has no place in this game.

The visuals are stunning, probably even better than FH3. The rain is implemented a million times better than FM6, gone are the puddles of death (especially around Brands and Sebring) and good god those thunderstorms are something else. Wow. Dynamic TODs are also pretty good, though I wish more races took advantage of it. The Spa enduro would have been even more enjoyable if it started raining in the middle of it, but I'm nitpicking here. The transitions are butter smooth, something other studios might want to look into.

Did I mention Dubai really sucks?

Career mode takes us back 15-20 years ago and goes full Gran Turismo on you. It's pretty good. Also, championships. Probably the best career mode since FM2, IMO. The added benefit of choosing how long you want the races to be really adds to the game. Gone are the days of smashing your way to the front in half a lap, you can now actually race your way there, and as I mentioned above, with the improved drivatars you can actually get a good race for a while.

Just not around Dubai, because it's the worst track in the world... I think Rio is more fun to drive around.

I didn't really know how to feel about the amount of car regurgitation with the carlist before actually playing it, but really, with the reworked economy and career mode, there's an added strategy in choosing which car you want to use for a given championship, since you won't be able to afford all of them at the same time. I'm currently in the Evolution championship (I think) and I'm having a hard time choosing my car for the Early Prototype challenge (Sauber C9 or Toyota MKIII? decisions, decisions) And you know what, there's a bunch of old favorites from the FM3-4 days I hadn't driven in forever that brought back a lot of good memories. Can't wait to see what DLC brings on the table this time.

Overall I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far, I think I like it more than FM4. I just wished Dubai sucked less.

Got to level 100 with the truck method and doing the career will try the escort tomorrow. Definitely worth doing the truck method for free cars.
