Yes, I worded that poorly. They've got a display version in the studio's lobby, and they've announced the FRC finales using it with a bunch of FM7 branding behind it so really, is it "new"? I feel, logically, that it was a given the 2017 919 would be in there for those reasons alone.

I'm having a hard time getting this idea worked into words, damnit.
It's new to the game, absolutely, there's no denying that and it's a totally different car to the 2015 one. But while it's new to the game, is it new to us, since, as I'm trying to put into words, it's been seen in their office for a while and they've used it to promote the game? I feel it would be logic to assume it was going to be in the game based on that alone, even before they unveiled it today.
Does that make any sense? Does it really matter anyway? It's in there and it's going to be a monster.
It'll probably be the E3 build again and some general talk about the game (4K, 700 cars, blah blah), but keep an eye out in case anything gets revealed

The problem is, given T10's history, the 2017 919 is likely to simply be the 2015 919 with a new livery. IIRC, the 2015 itself is already a somewhat older model with a new paint job.
So I quickly decided to take all the confirmed cars to so far, and add all the of the Forza 6 cars and Forza Horizon 3 cars to get a closer look at what the final list will be. I took out all the Forza edition/Fast & Furious cars from FM6 as well as all of the HE's from the Horizon List. (@JPinto I assume you'd have a similar list)
Note that I did not take out the buggies and off-road vehicles from FH3 (which certainly could be cut for FM7, this includes things like the Ford Ranger Rally Raid, Mini Countryman Raid, Alumi Craft Class 10 etc). I also left all of the Formula E, NASCAR, IndyCar and V8 Supercars from FM6 in there, all of which will most likely be updated for FM7. Somehow I don't think there'll be 24 NASCARS day one in FM7 but I guess we'll see. Either way here is the list..

I didnt include some of the leaked Horizon stuff like (Porsche #4 917LH and Jensen Interceptor 1993 #1 T100 Baja Truck) as although it is likely to appear, I don't wanna jinx it. There are probably some omissions or mistakes so feel free to amend them.
I'm not sure what the final total comes too and how close it comes too 700, (it might even be over 700) but again I included stuff that most likely will be cut/rearranged/updated. Either way it's looking very impressive, no other game this generation comes close and of course I expect Turn 10 to have quite a few new rides ready to go for these car reveals.
I hope Mitsubishi, Peugeot, Honda, Subaru, Renault, Volkswagen, Lexus, Alfa Romeo & Toyota have some new metal. Those manufacturers in particular I think have been lacking this generation. But those are minor nitpicks in what is the closest thing we'll get to a GT-Encyclopedia style game this gen.

I hear you on that. FM4 had a brilliant car roster as does FM6. I'm all up for a super-duper roster but I do hope they are making large strides to improve the lighting model, overall sound stage, physics and game features/options that made Forza an amazing game to play on last gen.

Wouldn't you rather they add more rim choices, varying exhaust mufflers that change the car's look and sound after upgrades, rear diffusers (from FM2) and heck, a soundtrack similar to FM2? I also hope they are not recycling too many tracks from previous games cos' I'm a bit weary of racing RA, Laguna, Sebring, R.Atlanta, Indiniannapolis etc. over and over again. But I suppose it's an American franchise, so there will be mostly American tracks.

Those are staples of the motorsport landscape and should definitely be included in any racing game that calls itself a racing game, much like the Nordschleife or Monza. Places like those have so much history it would be criminal to take them out.

As has been said, those are iconic tracks that are certainly deserving their inclusion. Having said that, apart from adding a short oval like Richmond I think Forza has covered the U.S. rather well and would like to see some more European, Asian or Australian tracks (and Mosport).

My best guess is due to the length of the tracks they figure the time spent bringing them up to current levels would be better spent elsewhere. Personally the only one of the three I've ever liked is Camino/Ladera as some of it's shorter layouts were fun (except for the sticky sections).
