Was wondering which track that was, saw this image a couple weeks back but I think I forgot to post it. My bad.

You did in fact post it here, about a month back.

The image is leaked by Chevrolet?
It's from their press release regarding the cover cars of FM:

This is someone who's disappointed at a release trailer because it doesn't satisfy his desires for an accurate sim-racing experience. "Why don't we just call it Forza Motorsport 8 and be done with it" makes me laugh; do people really get hung up on reboot names this bad? Of course it's FM8. Who the hell cares what it's called? What matters most, what has always mattered most, and what will always matter most, is whether it's fun and whether the driving feel is fun enough. It's a mass-market car racing game with a broad target audience. This is not Microsoft's iRacing. This isn't even Microsoft's Gran Turismo, it's just the next Forza. It's like being disappointed at a Ferrari being red. What the hell do these people expect?

It's a whole 8-minute diatribe on a trailer. He ain't even played the damn game yet. You couldn't waste your time more if you tried.

Once again I wonder how much of his problems with Forza are down to poor wheel support rather than poor physics.

If wheel support in the next FM is as good as, or better than what we have in FH5 it will honestly be plenty. I usually play FH5 on wheel these days and it's perfectly fine. It's not Assetto Corsa levels of pure feel but it's good enough.

Lol why don't you tell us where where you found that pic.

I figured they would partner with logitech because Gran Turismo is already partnered with Fanatec.
The weird part is Fanatec released a Forza Motorsport branded wheel last year

Any idea where this is from?

Most likely just photoshopped the Forza logo in.

EDIT: Massively Tree'd

I think the yellow filter he was complaining about may have been something called "sunlight" but I can't be sure. But let's gauge the physics from a gameplay video. That always works.

VVV's comment section makes the official forums look like... well, us by comparison.

Play Codemasters GRiD 1 and you will see a yellow/brown filter over everything.

Back to FM2023: I will agree that a lot was wrong with last month's showcase gameplay segment - lack of track surface detail, surprisingly low density of trackside objects (grass, etc...) lack of opponent car lean, not to mention the very strange lighting model without raytracing at all. All of these things are much better in FH4, let alone FH5. Clearly there was something wrong with the demo last time, because all other gameplay segments didn't have such issues in previous videos.

It was also pretty clear to me from how that Nissan Z leaned violently that the driver was using an Xbox controller. You get the same thing in FM7 with an Xbox controller if you move the thumbstick across too large a deflection too quickly. Especially if you are turning then release the thumbstick instead of gently guiding it back to centre. A steering wheel peripheral doesn't recenter instantly so doesn't have that problem.

I hope for T10's sake that their next demos will showcase more reasonable graphics, physics, roadside and track detail. And ideally a wheel-based test driver who can be smooth with corners to avoid moaners complaining about overly exaggerated car lean again :D

Edit: You forgot one last point which Team VVV tried to make. They think Forza Motorsport should be almost exclusively about motorsport apparently. Whereas in reality the game will have far more road cars than race cars. And it's about competing on track (instead of in the open world) with a variety of cars, not solely race cars. This will not change. Groups like Team VVV should stop trying to push their preferences - we have enough pure race car simulators out there already (ACC, iRacing, rFactor 2, Raceroom, Automobilista 2 to name the top ones, with Rennsport and the rFactor Le Mans WEC game coming soon) and don't need another one from T10.

I've watched Alan's content since the FM4 days. Team VVV's latest video did indeed strike me as overly negative though. To complain about AI and graphics in an old and unfinished build where the main objective was to show off the career mode felt a bit weird IMO.

Funny that you mention the official forums. I'm new here but recognize quite a few of you others from Twitter and Youtube. I totally gave up on reading the official forums a while back because it's just endless toxicity, doom and gloom. I quite like the tone in this forum though and after lurking around for some time I finally got around to making an account today 🤓

Ironically, yesterday, one of their members was promoting TDU SOLAR CROWN, a simcade racing game just few days ago
Also i hate this part of racing game community that wants make every game like "iFactor Corsalista"

Not everyone wants play a car game where you are obligated to play with a wheel or wants to play with a game made to be as much difficult as possible with the excuse it is realistic (when actually even REAL racing car drivers complain due it)

And no that doesnt mean i like cars less than you, or I am a "Filthy Casual", i just want a game that is different of the rest and a game that people can enjoy serious racing as they seems fit

The Forza Motorsport series has always kinda balanced on the line in between sim and arcade, meaning it attracts people from both groups and Forza players will often lean one way or the other, so I don't get why people seem so upset when someone who leans from the sim side of things says they want more sim-like features. I also don't get why some people need to go "THIS ISN'T IRACING" every time someone wants more race cars or whatever, as if there is no middle-ground and anyone who wants another sim-y feature or two actually wants the game to become iRacing/ACC/whatever even though that isn't what they said. Likely the same people doing those things wouldn't take kindly to people telling them "THIS ISN'T NEED FOR SPEED" and that they want to make the game Mario Kart or whatever about their desired features/direction. Stretching other people's words or putting words in their mouth doesn't help things.

With broad appeal comes a diverse playerbase with differing backgrounds and opinions and desires. Not sure why we can't discuss the merit of an idea or point or differing opinion about desired game direction without basically saying "THIS GAME ISN'T FOR YOU SHUT UP AND GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE."

I'm also not really sure what YouTubers/forum users/etc are supposed to judge other than what they/we have been shown? I mean yeah it's not a final product, but if we all just say nothing until the game is out it makes for pretty boring discussion. A studio that has been around for as long as T10 knows that whatever they show will be judged and analyzed by people following the game, meaning they either don't care or are fine with it being judged prematurely because they can handle the criticism, or that they are fairly satisfied with what they show as they feel it is representative and therefore are ready for it to be judged.

I'm not specifically defending the Team VVV video here... I listened to it in the background when it came out but to be honest I can't remember much of it, I'm just speaking generally as it seems we do this every time someone puts out a video or makes a tweet or Reddit post or whatever that some people around here don't agree with.

I dunno about that... I'm not sure I've seen a more divisive wheel game than FH5. I've seen players who almost exclusively play sims and can be picky with FFB try it with their wheel and say "yeah I dunno it's fine, not great but good enough" and other players who come from other Forza games or other simcade titles who think it's absolutely awful. Hardware-wise too, opinions from players on both high end wheels and entry level wheels are divided too.

I've only dabbled with my wheel on FH5 and I fell in the "I dunno it's okay" camp, and I've completely avoided using my wheel on FM7 so I don't have any comparison between those two really. I know within the Forza league I run and at some of the other leagues I'm a part of, probably 70% of the opinions I see are that it FH5 is worse than FM7 on a wheel.

I do wonder how much of that is just that people don't like using their wheel to jump off volcanoes or drive through jungles or whatever though and aren't used to off-road FFB or can't get comfortable driving X-class cars.

I can see there is some obvious unhappiness with my Forza video here. I’m a Forza fan, at least until Forza 4, then for me, the franchise lost its way and hence I was welcoming the brand reset.

An opportunity for a re-envisioning, fixing the aspects where concerns were raised over the previous years.

Many posters here don’t share my observations and that’s fine, if you think the game looks perfect and the elements highlighted are unreasonable, that’s all good.

I’ll continue to say it as I see it because I want Forza to be the best game it can be. The glory days, particularly FM2 – FM4 were key years for Team VVV. Then that ended as the quality dropped, players simply moved on to other titles and the Forza Horizon brand took over.

Play the games you enjoy; I’ll continue to say it as I see it. But critical feedback, isn’t a bad thing, it’s an important part of the process and I hope in time more people see that this isn’t an attack on FM, it’s done with a good heart, simply because I want it to be the best game it can be.

Theres a handful of people who respond to pretty much everything posted on there saying "Forza is dead" and how bad the new one is going to be, "The series peaked at FM4" blah blah blah. I don't understand why they would join the official forums, post religiously on it in the lead up to the new forza motorsport just to trash it at every opportunity. Not too mention its a game we've literally seen 10 minutes of and no one has played lol
