I'm torn on that... On the one hand a smooth driver shows off the game best, but on the other hand a clunky controller driver is more like how most players will experience the game :D :D :D

I think it’s harder to convey physics in footage when they’re being shackled down by assists, regardless of driver skill.

I checked iRacing, and it has those lights flickering in braking or low speed acceleration.
iR always simulates the dash Led's from assists kicking in or tire slip/block as close as possible to what the real car has. Nobody should ever expect that level of detail from a Forza game. You will just be disappointed.

I still have fun playing games like Forza but i really love also the attention to details of iR :)

It's AE86 days to go!

I don't expect the same level of detail and I'm sure it's not easy as lots of race cars have lots of different systems that are configurable and some teams set them up different too... but I'd just like them to not be wildly wrong. If they don't know what they actually do and can't be bothered to research it, or can't make them work like the real car (which is understandable), they should just leave them off. If you use cockpit view it's kind of annoying having lights flashing for no reason.

Hopefully with the Caddy it's just pre-release weirdness, but I won't be surprised to see them still wrong on release as I know there are some in FM7 that have weird things too. Like the C7R has its blue brake lock up LEDs turned into red/green shift lights that match the actual shift lights on the wheel for some reason, and that's something that takes all of 30 secs for them to research on YouTube. There's a few cars that have incorrectly calibrated shift lights too, so they just start flashing like 1000rpm before the shift point which is kind of annoying.

I’m new to Gran Turismo and this forum.

It seems that the proper etiquette is for me to find someone that likes Forza more than Gran Turismo and then fight them? Or do the moderators assign our enemy gamers or how does that work?
I'm following this forum for way more than a dozen years and never ever felt the need to fight others because they might prefer other games more. If you want to be a white knight just stay over GT section and defend you favourite game at home.
Or is this about console wars? Than I guess is ok to fight others... specially those xbots! 🤷‍♂️

I accept your challenge of a duel. Pistols or swords?

This is pretty much the nicest sim racing forum out there. In normal threads we just relax and talk about the things we like or the things we'd love to see.

threads such as this one are a little more heated because you get a wide audience for a potential future game, but people who actively aim to lower the tone of discussion tend to be mostly ignored until they stop. There's no need for that kind of thing.

back on topic: I've been racing FM7 a lot recently, to get above the 800 unique cars mark (should do it soon). I play with the controller these days and have finally got enough thumb technique to comfortably drive super cars (exotic GT category) and hypercars. They actually feel way more planted and easier to drive than I expected, at least when homologated. There's much less chronic oversteer than I thought I'd find in the category based on my Forza experience.

So while Forza has never really been totally convincing with high speed race cars, the fastest road cars in FM7 are actually pretty decent to drive. It makes me curious what FM2023 will bring.

oh, and saying that I tried out stock super cars in FH5 a while ago (488 Pista, Lamborghini STO, McLaren 720s, AMG GT Black Series) and they generally feel really planted and a blast to race around the Horizon Mexico circuit. I'm starting to wonder if Forza's fastest cars actually feel more oversteery on a wheel than with a controller?

I'm pretty sure moby 323 is joking 😉

That's good, but I don't see why they wouldn't share the list of supported peripherals right now, unless they are still working on supporting more devices.

In this they are no different from their competitors: Supported peripheral lists are always released very close to launch in every race sim. Licensing, compatibility, new wheel launches they are not allowed to spoiler, many possible reasons.

Now I can't unsee a big yellow cat, and neither can you.

Meowndurance racing is really hard, you know? It always gets a little catty around pit stops... Sometimes the cars even decide to take unexpected cat-naps...

Jokes aside, as long as my T300RS is supported by FM, I'll be happy with it. I do hope the game supports as many wheels as possible and that they've gone the distance to make it as pleasant to play on wheel as Forza usually is on controller.

Looks like the T300RS is a PlayStation branded wheel, so maybe not? Both companies pay to make these wheels that only work on their own consoles. It may work on PC, though there might be some dumb trick needed to make that happen.

I regretted buying a Thrustmaster TMX once I got GT7 and realized I wouldn't be able to use it there because it was made for Xbox. I'd love to know if there's some actual limitation beyond an exclusivity deal telling the wheel manufacturers to only add drivers/firmware/whatever for one console brand. Plenty of PC focused wheels work on both console brands, so I doubt it.

All recent Forzas so far have worked fine on the PC with Playstation branded wheels. I doubt the T300RS will be any different in FM2023.

My mistake then, should work fine here too. Just gotta wait to be sure.
