They've been very clear that the solo career won't be including pit stops or qualifying.

However they haven't mentioned about single player free play races. They might bring multiplayer rules there, including optional qualifying and pit stops. We'll just have to wait and see.

FM7 had a race length setting, and there was something that appeared to be related in a trailer. It isn't confirmed, but I really hope there are longer races in the campaign, either as separate endurance races like in FM3 and FM7 (and probably a few others), or as a race length option as in FM7 (which applied to those endurance races too, they got really long).

I am watching this right now. I am curious as to how AI makes mistakes without actually programming mistakes.
Within PC sims such as rF2, AC and AMS2, when the AI are using close to the players fizziks and not some magical grip and aero concoction that you see in "games", then the AI are prone to make the same mistakes the player can. When looking at the programming in AMS2, you can see that the AI are aware of the cars that are laterally present to them, other AI or the players car. They then get skiddish or adjust to that car and how close they are programmed to allow the car to be by their side. This in corners will push an AI wide. On straights might push an AI to the grass.
Hearing this in this Monthly is very promising. He did a good job of not hiding behind the features he was talking about.

Alfa, Lancia, Fiat, Abarth
So glad I haven't touched the FH5 rally DLC until now!

I know we don't know how fast any of us will be until the new game comes out but if player lap times are similar to FM7 then the AI will be super hard for us mere mortals to beat on the higher difficulties (which is a good thing in my opinion)

I've just tried to match the AI time on maple valley using the same car and the best i could muster in 10 laps was a 1:17:6xx and that was good for 90th in the world. AI would be #26 lol

At 41:25 he mentions pitting in multiplayer, and then right after that mentions that the tire compound model "in the campaign mode it's a little less about the pitting" (he said pitting, but youtube cc changed it to hitting)

That's not what they meant.

This was their FM7 AI at maximum non-cheating speed, which is not what you play in FM7 - they use cheats there to make the AI competitive for unbeatable difficulty opponents. What he was saying is that their new AI can get that speed without cheating, so they removed all the tricks to make the unbeatable AI faster.

They can obviously slow down the AI, but this was what it can do at maximum attack.

Finally catching up to the stream and it makes me really happy that the initial demonstration of wheel-using gameplay was from someone who, like me, uses a Logitech and is very self-conscious about not being very good at it. They made it look like a whole lot of fun for someone of that particular (insufficient) skill level.

Yeah, i know. I'm just saying if the AI is as fast as T10 are saying they are and if player lap times are similar in the new game as they are in FM7 then the AI are going to be tough on the higher difficulties for all but the very fastest.

And that is a good thing

Length of races in solo?

(edited statement) I thought they showed in the previous Forza Monthly that race length in the Builders Cup mode is fully adjustable. I don't see why pitting wouldn't be in singleplayer if the option for longer races is practically built in. Slightly less sure now.

As for the return of the Italians: VIAAAAAAAAAAAA been waiting for a Mitsubishi Returns moment since launch!!

Hopefully there is a some number-100 sliding scale for AI instead of easy, medium, hard, expert.

The more that I see on Motorsport and hear Chris talk, the more I am getting excited about it. The single player looks pretty decent and hopefully have some longevity to. Still wait and see more before I make a decision, but it looks promising.

There was a small "race length" bar, but they never showed that it was adjustable, it looked to me like it could be just an indicator of what to expect from that race.

Nowhere before or after this screen did it show a setting for length, but it's possible it's in the difficulty menu. Still, it's paired with the PI limit rather than the difficulty settings displayed on this screen.

Where was this shown in the video?I saw a slider for difficulty level but didnt see anywhere to adjust race length, any chance you can point me in the direction. 👍

It's a 10 point scale.

Edit: It's an 8 point scale:
In recent Forzas we had 8 levels already:

New Racer, Inexperienced/Novice, Average, Above Average, Highly Skilled, Expert, Pro, Unbeatable

And FH5 added another below the lowest setting: "Tourist" mode which slows down the AI to let you catch up if you crashed off :D

Highly Skilled is used in the Seasonal Playlist events in both FH4 and FH5, which would be 5/8

re @AutumnalGlow @mynameis66

I don't have a timestamp right now because I don't really care to rewatch a 2-hour long video, but I distinctly remember this detail being discussed and even reacted to by some of you here. So unless we all collectively had a hallucination or misintepreted it last month (see page 82 of this thread) I am fairly certain this is a thing.

Although AutumnalGlow does raise a good point that we haven't seen it being adjusted, it's very possible we are misinterpreting it and we're all wrong or overly hopeful. If that's the case, I apologize.

So I'm going to revise my statement; I hope race length is adjustable in the career mode because that'd be cool; failing that, I hope the spread of different events is good enough to cover for it.

Theory and opinions: But honestly it'd be weird if it wasn't. Why have fully simulated tire and fuel wear if you can't adjust the event length to make that important? You tell me if I'm on copium, I may well be, but I'm just finding it odd.

I only have a Playstation so I likely won't be getting this game but it's good to see at least some positivity for a game in this genre. I hope the end product will be able to deliver.
Get an Xbox too. It’s fun being able to play GT and Forza!

You don't need a Xbox, a cheap gaming PC will run it in 1080p. Obviously you will need a more expensive PC if you want to play it in higher frame rate and resolution.
