This game doesn't even have events for race cars, and it won't have them ever because of FOMO?

This time gated content is one of the silliest things we have in gaming right now
I've only just discovered today that we can't use race cars in the open tour series. I was going to use the Formula Mazda for the 700 one, but now I'm levelling up the '09 S2000 instead. A bit ridiculous that we can't use the car of our choice in a so-called open series.

It isn't 100% clear to me yet that the reward cars won't be obtainable when the featured tours are removed. They haven't explicitly said that's the case, and you'd think the game itself would be making it incredibly clear if this is the only time a particular car will be able to be obtained, especially given there's no means for a car to pass from one player to another.

Is anyone losing saving progress?
I'm losing progress for the featured tour with the KTM GT2, it always reset back to the second race at Watkins Glen for some reason. The first time I played till the 4th race at Road America and it reset back to the second race then I replayed the whole series in 1 sitting but it still reset back to the second race. I try replaying the third time last night and still get reset back to the second race after the game reboot.

And for some reason the game now said I have 3 trophies eared but I only completed one series and the KTM GT2 series still get reset back to the second race. I did completed the hole KTM GT2 series twice, maybe thats how it calculated 3 trophies.

Can you cite which parts of his post are inaccurate BS as there's a host of points he raised that most reviewers (on the payroll?) ignored
Reviews are not paid for, that is illegal in some countries.

Just because a reviewer didn’t pick up on something that others have or the bugs didn’t appear while they were playing doesn’t mean there’s some grand conspiracy that they’re getting back-handlers under the table.

The games industry is far too mature for “undisclosed avertorials disguised as reviews” to be a thing anymore. Any sponsorship or similar must be prominently displayed at the start of an article or video, as per legal requirements in many countries.

Same for content creators. They disclose if a code was given for free (it usually is) and if there’s any editorial input (usually there is none) at the start.

And for today’s fun mistakes…

The Mk2 Golf’s speedo is in KM/H, despite being an American spec car, but also reads its MPH in KMH (60mph is showing as 60kmh) so it forever looks like you’re going incredibly slow.

And the Mercedes 190E needs an engine rebuild, because the oil pressure reads 1.5. Under any form of revs it should read at 3 and be at where it is now at idle. We restore classic Mercs, this one must be completely buggered 🤣

First the horizon festival gives us Ferrari's with broken active aero, and now Motorsport gives us knackered mercs haha.

I mean, technically the Mk2 is overheating as well, temperature gauge is only supposed to be at half way during really bad warm traffic, it should be just below it.

They've also given the Mercs and the 60s jags all backlit gauges when they should be bulbs shining down on them. The stuff you learn when you work on and drive old stuff every day

Is anyone losing saving progress?

1) a few days ago I completed the open tour B class (4 races) completely with the Subaru ST209 FE and got the car from level 1 to 12 while doing so. Even picked the C63 S Forza Edition Merc for the next A class part but then couldn’t continue to some weird error message about fetching the data from the server so I logged off.

2) Yesterday when I wanted to continue playing all my progress from the B class open tour was gone, I had to do all the races again. So nothing of that saved, except that my ST209 FE was still level 12, so that part stayed. I played the 3 first races again (Grand Oak, Silverstone, Indianapolis) and the game crashed when I was in menues for the 4th and final race at VIR.

3) When I started the game up again I was back at only the first race at Grand oak completed. Holy moly I have never seen such a big issue with save files on Xbox before. 😡🤬
Yes, it happened to me with the... whatever the weekly one with the KTM is called. It has also happened to a few of my friends, including one who had to complete the Miata one 4 times before it saved, and has currently attempted the German whatever one (in the tour that gives you the Lexus) twice and it hasn't saved for them.

Not that I get these games for the career anyways, but the progress loss has basically stopped me from playing career at this point, as the AI is so bad it's zero fun to race with so I just don't enjoy it whatsoever anyways, and I don't want to have to redo them over again. I was really only doing them to level up some cars and unlock the showcase cars, but I can level up cars with the AFK thing and the showcase cars can wait I guess.

I just hope it keeps working for the Featured Tours or whatever they are called, to get the Acura.

___________

Ran our first kind of official league night on the new game and... it was a pretty rough night and we ran into several issues:
  • 5 different people out of the 21 who showed up got stuck a combined 8 times in the menu after selecting their car while trying to join the lobby for the first time for the night, meaning they had to alt+F4/dashboard their game and relaunch it to try again. The plus side though, was that we seem to have figured out a workaround, if you choose a rental car when joining the lobby and wait until it shows your car on pitlane, then you can change to your owned car without the game getting stuck. Seems to be a more common problem for PC players than Xbox, but we have had both have issues with it, and have had issues with it in the past while trying to join Featured Multiplayer lobbies as a group as well as in the private lobbies tonight.
  • Multiple people noticed their tunes reset on their cars when switching lobbies, but unsure why it happens.
  • After running our first race, the host (me, on XSX) went in to set up the second race, and upon pushing A to confirm the new lobby settings my game crashed to dashboard. The person who inherited the lobby (on PC) went in and put in the changes, and pushed A to confirm them and it crashed their game. The next person who inherited the lobby (on XSS) put in the changes and pushed to A to confirm and... this time it accepted the changes at least, but also crashed them to the dashboard. We just set up a new lobby, which meant going through the process of inviting people and having someone stuck trying to choose their car again, and unfortunately they got frustrated with the game and just bailed.
  • Our second race was created to run from the night into the morning, yet there seemed to be a de-sync as only 2 of the remaining 18 players (a few dropped out due to frustration with the game/the event running late because of the above issues) said they saw it get light and the sun come up, and the rest of us just raced under stars the whole time.
  • And after the event was over my game crashed to dashboard a further 6 different times, 1 while clicking "start race" in a lobby with a few stragglers, and 5 while scrolling through my garage/buy cars list, including 3 of the times in a 10 minute period. Probably 90% of my crashes to dashboard come while looking through cars though so it wasn't hugely surprising, just an unlucky night for it I guess.
The thing is though... once we got going, we had some genuinely fun racing, with some great battles thanks to the draft that actually works, and the first race's time of day change actually working made for a nice atmosphere as well. It should have been a great success and basically everyone had a good time, but it was also frustrating dealing with the issues as well as working around the missing basic QoL things that FM7 had, like the ability to manually order a grid, fast dirty times overwriting clean laps and the "mini-scoreboard" not showing lap times when lobbies are set to "compare best lap scores," and no "previous results" screen in-lobby.

If the events will be removed then the Acura DPI at the last event will be locked behind a time limited event, since reward cars are not buyable in the shop like the Lexus LFA is not listed in the shop.

The first 4 new cars added for each tour every week is probably permanent in the shop.
Ah I see.I thought the only benefit to do the races, apart from wanting to,was a discount in the shop. The lexus is a reward for finishing the enthusiast tour in the builders cup I believe.Same for the other 4 prizr cars,i dont think they are behind a time limited window,I may be wrong though.

Well, the 458 italia got an LB Works widebody along with new chassis mounted wing.

458 lb rear.png

This along with the new wing complete the GT3 look.

Kind of surprised seeing the Liberty Walk 458 kit back considering it wasn't available on FH4 and FH5.
I guess this kind of settle the "rumour" of licensing issue.

458 bug.png

The wing is also bugged.

Launch week info looks good for Motorsport

True Archivements put the game in #3 for most played in week only behind Fortnite and COD

Things looks good in Xbox Charts too

In USA was ahead of FH5, Cyberpunk, AC: Mirage and GTA Online in most played, Premium Edition is still in top 5 paid
In UK was ahead of GTA V, GTA Online, Starfield, Minecraft and others, Base game and Premium in top 10 Best Sellers

Did it?? Anyway, I gave the game 3 stars out of 5 on Xbox, so relax.
Your comment received a negative rating, I'm referring to the video, I don't know what it's about and I didn't open it either, because it doesn't seem to be my musical style.
I don't care what score the game is given, and I've also read that Turn10 is deleting negative scores.
The only thing I envy about the Forza games is the diversity of cars, nothing more than that.

I have been playing in almost exclusively cockpit view and I have to say I am enjoying it. The engines don't sound as good as they did in prior games, but roughly the same inside.. It's not perfect, I had a funny glitch that let me max out the MX5 on race 2 of the cup, so far that hasn't happened again anywhere else.

Here's the problem with time-gated content- Everybody pays the same for the game. Some people, for a variety of reasons, simply do not have the luxury of time to put into video games. Yet they get less. At some point you stop playing or buying at all because you start feeling a bit ripped off.
When I cared about the cars in Forza Horizon 5, I remember watching the Forza Monthly run down, and I'd set reminders on my phone to log in that week for 2 hours to do all the events for that one car.

Not exactly an optimal gaming experience

Tried to import my FXX K Evo livery last night and ended up having to manually import each side as a vinyl group, then manually apply them to the one I own in FM. The design just wouldn't show up in the import screen no matter what I tried, and I wasn't using any locked vinyl groups either. Not a fun experience, I hope the next one doesn't go so badly.

Fixed ambient occlusion errors on both the exterior and interior views in the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V and fixed a separate issue of damage geometry clipping when viewing the car from a distance.

Fixed an issue with the 2014 Lamborghini Huracan where no light is cast from the car gauge and dashboard cluster, as well as the headlights, taillights and brake lights. We’ve also fixed ambient occlusion errors on this vehicle.

Updated the mirror texture of the 2018 SUBARU #1 Adrian Flux SUBARU Racing Levorg GT from a repeating pattern to its intended semi-gloss metallic silver texture.

Fixed an issue with the 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette Stingray where using the Remove Wing Upgrade left the Stock Wing visible on the car.

Fixed an odd behavior scenario that would occur for players who own the Forza Motorsport Premium Edition or Premium Add-Ons Bundle on both Xbox and Steam and use the same Gamertag on both versions where duplicated DLC cars would result in an error message prompting the player to repurchase the associated DLC.

Fixed an exploit where DLC car duplicates purchased from the Showroom could be used on another account or platform where the DLC has not been purchased.

Glad to see that they listened to the complaints about the car leveling. I want to come back to this game, but I'm feeling like it might be something I revisit in a year or so once everything has been mostly ironed out.

I was optimistic about the CarXP system, and I still enjoy it as a change of pace from the old cycle of getting a new car and immediately maxing it out. But once it turned out that career mode doesn't let you actually spend a lot of time with your car before pushing you towards a series where you have to drive a different one, I'm glad it was tweaked at least a bit.

So... after all the voices in the three months leading up to launch questioning the whole "2hr to level up a car", it launched with it anyway only to be walked back in a week?

I mean... right call, but now was only the second-best time to make it...
Probably wanted to see the general public's reaction to it. Unfortunately for them, it was the same as the early reviewers.

Still dumb imo.

What makes it worse is the general ire towards it was voiced before anyone had ever laid hands on the game. Said ire only worsened when the game released, and the upgrades were generally out of reach (technically speaking) once you completed an individual race series and moved onto the next, and subsequently a brand-new car.

I wonder whether they started working on a rebalancing fix as soon as the negative feedback started to come in and couldn't release it in a coordinated fashion until the update?

Not that it wasn't a bad decision in the first place and sounds like their focus testing was virtually nonexistent, but if they're damned if they do and damned if they don't... then I'm glad they did.

Stutter is most likely due to you picking “unlocked” frame rate. Try “unlocked (Vsync)”. This is a tip from the DF video.

Personally I found that my own strange stutter went away when I turned off ray tracing. I dislike the extra shimmer and aliasing from both RT and DLSS in the game right now so I run without them, and the game is silky smooth.
Nah that isn't what's causing my stutter, I tried that too. Weirdly I get better frametimes in gameplay by using the non (Vsync) option with an external framecap. The only way I've found to completely remove the stutter is to drop everything to the absolute lowest and use an external 60fps cap. I can still see it in the metrics but the lowest dip is above 60 at that point with all low settings. Just tried the new drivers and game update and it seems a little better, and I don't think that's a placebo, but the stutter is still there. There's definitely something weird going on somewhere.
