Update is live now, 5.50GB on Xbox Series X.

Added bonus: with the car progression systems finally improved and addressed, it's time they address come-and-go mechanics, such as career mode tours, as well as to add every tour reward car in "Buy or rent cars" in the coming updates.

All content added should be permanent so that no player gets left behind.

Just removing the car locks for customizing your cars will make a huge difference to the game, adding a bit Forza's spirit and identity back. But they can't stop yet, as there's more they need to do if they want to redeem themselves after the wreck that is their launch day. Also, I hope they've done something about the constant crashes I get every so often after a few races, changing cars' colours, etc.

Need this in the car upgrade screen as well.

Such a miserable environment.
I wouldn't mind if the customization menu was in a garage tbh, like the one in the back in the main menu. If that's too much for T10, than I agree it should have the paint booth's changeable backgrounds as well.

4.8 GB on PC - Win store

I just tested the updates by doing the Hockenheim and Spa races in the Ringer tour (Series X) The first turn in those races is always a contested point and now are much cleaner. However, they are still prone to sideswipe you, or not yield when you have the inside, and their braking still has no subtlety, it's all or nothing, they can't trail brake, they can't brake at the threshold. Small steps, I guess.

Anybody else since this update that the sky on tracks is flickering like crazy?? (PC) before no problem like that....

I've only done one lap of Nordschleife in rivals since the update, but didn't see any problems. Steam version, High quality, DLSS off, RT off, 120fps.

No graphical issues here, benchmark result was identical to update 4 and 5.

My verdict on the new AI after 6-7 races:
  • They don't collide with each other in the first corner anymore, however this is predominantly achieved by having them all slow down more and swerve less. It feels like an "aggressiveness" slider reduction.
  • During normal racing, the cars feel just slightly more aware when you are alongside them. I was encountering slightly less side collisions when moving through the field, however it's still definitely a problem.
  • AI Brake checking you is probably also a little improved. I had it sometimes, but only when cars were fighting, not when cars were just driving by themselves.
  • As for the first few cars not breaking away... Based on what I saw, the top 1-2 cars still perform a very quick opening lap, but then on the next lap they seem to slow down, driving a slower lap 2 than lap 1. As a result, the cars in the lead don't break away from the pack as much, but somehow it feels really artificial to me, not logical.

Still, the benefit of these changes is that you can increase the difficulty without having to worry about the top 1-2 driving away from the field, and you can start from the back without encountering a complete mess in corner 1. However there's still plenty of work to do.

Is it just me or did they adjust the default brightness? I had mine set to .5 and everything seemed a bit darker for me in the one race I've had so far

Being able to fully upgrade your cars from the start has made the tours too easy, as the AI doesn't fully upgrade to the limit until the later races.
I don't care and took full ad-"Vantage" of the new pay-to-play car points mechanic to buy a decent tune for my Aston Martin so I could snag the vintage 911 in the outgoing Open Tour before it disappears off to FOMO heaven tomorrow.

Yeah, man, everything was tickety-boo until I got to Maple Valley in the A-class round and they decided to turn the lights out.

I must have forgotten to put 50p in the electricity meter or something.

So, the update fixes a major pet peeve with the paint booth, finally adding alternate lighting options... And then proceeds to break it entirely by removing precise adjustments. Hotfix coming soon, I hope?

Think they're gonna need to add upgrades to the race menu, so you can match the AI's PI more closely.
Although, I just bumped the difficulty up from 4 to 8.
I'll give them credit for adding the new tracks to old tours at least.

Booted the game up, bought and upgraded an MGB GT for the E Class online races... first race was bumper to bumper, trading places with 2 other drivers, one Mini, one Mazda Cosmo.

That's what Forza is all about for me. No faffing about with CarPG mechanics, just pure racing with a variety of cars online.

I'm finding it easier to browse tunes and paints since the update. Before it just froze after the first five and wouldn't load any more. This used to be a problem with FM7 for me too, so I'm glad it seems to be gone now.

I am IN LOVE with the removal of car locks. It feels like that bit of forza's old spirit is back where you're free to customize your cars as you please (as long as you have the credits to do so to exchange for car points). Though I love that there are options where, if you don't have enough credits, you could earn car points by leveling up your cars AND earn credits per race.

Everything else is a wonderful bonus! I truely hope T10 continues to listen to the community and improve/fix the game. Can't say I can pat them on the back just yet though. They still got a lot of work to do. Also, can we PLEASE have a sponsorship system ala Grid Legends that adds mini missions for extra credits in game?

There doesn't appear to be that much painting going on at least the few times I've shopped for paints. I wanted to change the Audi GT3 and I figured there would be a ton of choices for it but there wasn't many at all.

Only thing I can currently think of (My bad, my long-term memory isn't what it used to be in my 20's-Early 30's) to be even better would be to remove the f.o.m.o off the featured tours duration and to add them to the permanent Career. This and adding customized weather switching during Free Racing.

Im glad we got different menu music, those same 2 or 3 songs was hurting my ears after awhile
Some of the new music tracks are like "Siri, compose me some telephone hold music" but some of them are actually quite good.

Sure, but I expected access to more than five liveries per car. Now I can access them all I've managed to find some which are much better further down the list.

Perhaps the new lighting options may encourage more people to paint. I dunno but I think they probably need to work the bugs out of importing liveries from earlier Forza games so that we get a bigger choice.

So before the update you were limited to 5 livery choices per car?

Tonight I ran three races, TCR at Hockenheim, Ferrari F430 at Mugello, and the LMP2 Nissan at Kyalami. I can't tell much difference in AI behavior at all. Hockenheim there was a pileup at turn 2 with a Honda divebombing at turn 3. Mugello had a pileup at turn 1. And at Kyalami they waited until turn 13 to get into a wad and then a Ferrari just barreled around the outside at Cheetah, went off track and just kept going. If this is what they call change they had better back up and think again, I can't see it.

As far as not having the lead car or cars rocket off they still kind of did that but instead of staying there they fell back. Almost like a rubber band situation. But the lead car backing up created a single file line almost Gran Turismo style.

My observation is similar with this so called AI tweak they did with this update. Did several races and not much difference at all really in the AI behavior. In fact there were times where it was worse than before the update particularly the first lap. Ive noticed a lot more AI cars running into each other and even into me but once the cars get some pace and create space then its mostly smooth sailing. The lead AI car is beatable now but theres still a lot of weird hiccups they need to fix, they still seem scared to pass slower cars and still slam on brakes for no reason.

The spotlight cars are a huge disappointment.

Here are the spotlight cars of the update:
Wk 1: 2014 Alfa 4C
Wk 2: 2002 Nissan Skyline R34
Wk 3: 1969 Dodge Charger
Wk 4: 2014 Huracan
Reward: Pagani Zonda Cinque R

Open Tour Reward: Ferrari 599XX

2 of which are already in the game.

but the Car Pass is much more insane than before with an unexpected additon, the Nissan Silvia Super Silhouette. The McMurtry will be out on April?
Agree on the spotlight cars, the only one of the new inclusions that seems useful is the Alfa.

The 4C is a great car and a great addition to the game, as it fills out a manufacturer with a small lineup, is a unique model, has a comparable "rival" car in the game in the form of the A110, and is versatile in that it should be useable in at least B and A classes, and possibly S class too. If they bring back cars like this then I'm fine with returning content.

The 2014 Huracan is actually probably the most useful Huracan we will have in the game as it will be the slowest and therefore have the most room for build variety, but since we already have like 3 other Huracans... big meh. Unless they want to bring us the new LMDh or some vintage models, I've had enough Lambos for a while.

Paganis are cool I guess but I don't see the Cinque being all that useful for... anything really. Maybe it will be okay in R class lobbies?

The 599XX is also disappointing. We already have the Evo in the game which is the more driveable version and I have never heard anyone say "boy I wish we had the pre-Evo version." Hard to believe this thing would be a priority when you look at all the cars we have lost from the last few titles, a bit of a headscratcher.

I too was hoping for the Speirling in the Car Pass, so I'm kind of disappointed. The Nissan is cool though, the Lexus is like 8 years too late but an alright car, and the 98T is okay I guess. The Toyota is kind of a rip off though, unless it has some cool GT86 Cup bodywork to put it on it or something to differentiate it from the BRZ. Kind of a waste of space, but not as bad as the Audi from last week I guess.

Hopefully, but I can see them just ignoring it until next update.

Our series has a new season starting in 2 weeks and I hadn't started on a livery yet. I started to try some things out tonight and immediately noped out after like 5 minutes because of this, very frustrating.

I haven't played since November. Are all of the limited time Tour reward cars still not available after the Tour ends? If so I probably still will only play once the Charger is available for a month on Game Pass. The fear of missing out gimmicks in modern games have gotten really annoying to me.

The time limited cars still aren't available, although they did send out a free Acura DPi to everyone, which was one of the first time limited cars if you missed out on it.

Also the Charger isn't new, it's available now and was in since launch, they are just using it as one of the "Featured" cars for the weekly tour thing, meaning it is on discount. For the first few months almost all (or was it all?) of the Featured cars were new (although your definition of "new" might vary) to the game, but it hasn't been that way the last few updates, where only a few have been new and the rest are just discounted.

Comparison posts like this always make me curious so I felt like checking this out for myself. Not many people may know this but the RTGI is already present but disabled - it can be toggled through file edits, although the effect definitely isn't as strong as that official pic.

Same position on track but with a fancier looking time of day:

I can't replicate the nicer blurred reflections but this could just be a setting that I'm not aware of so far:

Was curious about the tire wall in the background though, in the official shot (and in my game, even without modding) the AO is much nicer where the tires meet the sand, making the wall look way more realistically placed in the scene. Is your shot from console? I wonder if the RTAO is weaker or missing there.
Dude what the ****! Can you tell me how to enable such settings please?
