Dude what the ****! Can you tell me how to enable such settings please?
Put the following in media\pcfamils\renderscenarios\<graphics preset>\global.xml:
<DXRReflectionGlossyMinValue value="0"/>
<DXRRoughReflectionsFullRange value="1"/>
<RTGI_Enabled value="1"/>
<RTGIQualityLevel value="2"/>
<DXRReflectionMethod value="2"/>
Just bear in mind it might be less stable and you'll lose the sky reflection in car windows (but not bodywork), making them look a bit odd:

Has anyone ever noticed this, where when you play offline (being limited to Free Play only), the Car Pass cars are unavailable?
I dont quite understand. Car pass cars shouldnt be "available " until they actually drop the Wednesday of that week its supposed to. But there is a way you can test drive all of them once the update rolls out. I been doing that for awhile from this video on YouTube I saw.

The game seems to be ok running on my XSX,flickering on home screen has gone,liverys seem to load a tad quicker,apart from the awful D pad livery issue all seems good.
The car points buying thing could be a little simpler.For example a separate screen where you can buy car points instead of going to add parts,being told you dont have enough points,go to another screen to add points in 25 increments.It may be due to how many CP I already have though,I havent really had a proper session with the game yet.A few more QOL features added would be nice but it a step in the right direction.

I've been paying more attention to the appearance of cars in real life while walking around here, and have come to the conclusion that while the cars in FM do look like cars in real life, it's because hardly anyone bothers to wax and polish their car any more. I've seen the occasional car that looks much shinier than almost every other car, and my guess is those cars have been recently waxed and polished. When you see a waxed/polished car it looks more like cars look in GT7 and FH5. In FM, the cars generally look like non-waxed/polished cars.

However, I just noticed while browsing through the autoshow that the 1964 GT40 is an exception to this:

Unlike most cars in FM, it looks waxed/polished. Is there any way to make other cars look like this through the livery editor?

I mean, what I was saying was previously released Car Pass cars not available to use when you're offline.

Which is why I made a new suggestion on the Forza forums to make Car Pass cars available through the system, not the servers.

Well, I never polished my last car in eight years... then again it was refrigerator white. Anyways, two-tone polished should get the best results in FM.

I tried two tone polished the other day, but it doesn't make the car look like that GT40. That GT40 is metallic, but a real looking metallic, not the silly big flakes that you get with the metallic flake option in the livery editor. Maybe it's some sort of special pre-defined paint that we can't replicate ourselves.

These settings seem to get rid of reflections completely. Only glass surfaces seem to reflect anything.

After test driving the DLC cars heres my takes.

The Lexus RCF GT3 actually sounds good and has good grip but man is it slow and its PI reflects that. This I believe is the only GT3 car thats in S class, I wonder why its like that. Seems fast around daytona in real life but in game I topped around 170 when other gt3s have done 175ish

The Nissan silivia silhoutte is a great addition sounds good too and now we have the silhoutte trio from Japan. All we need now is Tsukuba and maybe twin ring motegi for a nice japanese track rotation using these cars. Also would like a few more group 5 beasts like thr Celica LB turbo, Lotus Europa, bring back the porsche 935 MD and the dekon Monza is somewhere out there

The Toyota....meh its ok. I just like race cars more

And the Lotus 98T is a monster and it slots in well with the early 90s F1 cars in game. It was way faster on the straights though and excellent grip. A couple more additions like the Brabham BT52 and the Benentton B190 would complete that class

The main menu floor loses reflections for some reason but everything else will receive the proper full reflection treatment as you can see here.

Like I suggested these settings are likely disabled for a reason, so there's no guarantee that what works for me will work for everyone.

Doesn't seem to be the case unfortunately when pasted in global settings, also what in game settings are you running?

Yep I also had the issue of those settings turning cars matte and basically having no reflections. Oh well I'll wait for the official patch when it's enabled but it's crazy its been there the whole time.

I really hope these settings fix how wheels look in the game, Forza's wheel lighting have always looked bad to me, just very unrealistic while GT7s look brilliant. Wheels are really important to get a car looking just right.

How do you drive the new dlc cars before they are available?

In addition to Rolex's how-to, another user shared you can start a free run, cross the start/finish, restart back to the pits & change your car by setting your car restrictions to the Car Pass car you want to try out. It should pop in & allow you to race it.

Are you guys running the game on Performance 4K or Performance RT or Xbox SX?

I tend to use the Performance RT setting more but then the shimmering and glowing around the edges of cockpit parts can get very distracting.

I use performance in 4K ; it looks better to me; at least it’s sharper; I tried few time performance RT, but the RT was kinda broken and I really don’t like the dynamic resolution; looks way too blurry.

Just tried it last night after the new update. I was so, so happy - first time I've smiled on the game outside of racing with my friends.

The new livery editor lighting actually makes it look like a totally different game, and thank god it remembers what you set it to.
Being able to customise cars too the way we used to finally means I can enjoy making random cars for random classes and see what they're like!

Same here. I use Performance mode. I found the game looking blurry in Performance RT and it looks like it's running in slow motion in Visual Mode (Okay, slight exaggeration. But still. 60 fps ftw😉).

I did my first career mode race after the update yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised with the AI. Still far from perfect, but much better now. Before I often found myself in no man's land between second and first place, that often gets a way too big lead to catch, and the rest of the field. Yesterday I started last on the hardest difficulty and then had a very pleasant battle for the lead with the top 2 after passing the rest of the field.

The highlight of the update is the revamp of the Car Upgrade system though. Being able to build cars the way I want, when I want, unlocked a bit of that (dare I say it?) FM4 sandbox magic ❤️

This is on PC too, RTAO seems kinda broken honestly. There is shimmering artifacts all over the cockpit especially the steering wheel. It does reduce if you pump up the RTAO quality setting BUT that absolutely tanks performance.

@TheAdmiester Is there a way to get rid of this RTAO artifacting in the cockpit that you know of? Other than turning it off completely of course

I played after the update last night. The AI does seem better and I had a close battle for first in the beginning of the race at Maple Valley during the AMG tour. It was less being shoved out of the way and more actual racing, which is a big improvement from before.

I'll also admit that having all the upgrades unlocked from the beginning is nice and allowed me to put the AMG SLS to almost the top of A class within two races, maybe I was wrong about the system being fine the way it was, it just never really bothered me. I can definitely see the advantages to the new system though especially for people who don't play multiplayer or just want to test a tune out.

I finally fired the game back up on my PC last night. Played for about 2 hours. I haven't played since maybe update 3 I think, but at some point between update 4-6, they made a huge improvement with the wheel settings. AWD and RWD cars feel much better than before on my Fanatec DD1. The game is fun again for me. I can jump in a new car, tune whatever I want and jump in a MP lobby and not worry about being competitive. The only gripe I still have is the FOV with triple screens. I know they will never fully support triples, but they should give me the option to save the FOV adjustment per car, like I can with my FFB setting. All in all though, in the 2 hours I played, I had 0 performance issues or stutter. Everything just worked. They are on the right path for sure.

Even on 32:9 ultrawide the fov is so inconsistent from car to car
Exactly. I was driving the new M4 and 45 degrees was the best I could do. Then I jumped into an 18' RS3 and I was humping the steering wheel. I had to crank it to 55.

Never seen any RTAO artifacting so I wouldn't know.

Happens to me also in some cars at cloudy weather. This is all on pc maxed out 4K DLAA btw.

Just look at the gloves and the side white panel of the car

(the video is not playing for me weirdly on this site)

That's just ray tracing denoising, happens everywhere in most games that use RT (and a deferred and/or TAA-driven renderer I believe).

GT7 does it all over the place when the camera is moving, it's probably just more noticeable in FM because FM has RT effects in normal gameplay.

Shame it still has the same bugs.

Spent 15 minutes in a Practise session, in a Featured Race online.

Gets to the Intermission countdown. Soon as it hits zero for race start - game crashes to Xbox home screen.
