I originally thought that after the reveal in 2022 "coming months" meant they'd occasionally reveal new things about the game every few months; here's hoping that's actually the case after June. (man, has it really been almost a year already?)

It seems people either want a full sim or a full arcade, not this in-between stuff. The fact that Assetto Corsa with only two games outsold the entire Motorsport franchise should be a big concern for Turn10.
Assetto Corsa has been on sale countless times on the largest digital storefront for as little as $4. (For reference, the cheapest Forza Horizon 5 has ever been on sale on Steam is $35; the lowest price Forza Horizon 4 has ever been is $19.79)

Forza franchise surpassed $1 billion dollars in retail sales in 2017.

Assetto Corsa Franchise has hit $114 million in retail sales in 2023.

That is 10x the revenue in sales without the release of Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 4, and Forza Horizon 5.

I think both franchises have done amazing.

Can anyone explain 'Achievements' to me, are people turning them off or are millions of people buying games and not playing them?

I think I've played AC once so far on my laptop (has integrated gfx, as I went with Xbox instead of being robbed) with my wheel when updating firmware, possibly once with a game pad but not sure if I did - I'm still to get into it more, but enjoying Acc on Xbox until it crashes. Anyway, I have the 4 highlighted extremely easy to obtain ones, 180mph, 120mph, 60mph and drive 30 miles in a session, eg 2.5x Nordschleife or 7 laps of Spa. Yet somehow massive % figures don't get this, from a game they bought?

Forza could be even worse, 31% of people not even completing the opening scene? Or 47% not making it to the first event?

Will AI botfarms do better at money laundering/lying to investors/insert theory here?

I see 74% on mine for the first race in FM7. Could be people never once playing online after booting up the game though. Though, it's not really that farfetched - as far as I know, GTS was a purely online game and the completed trophies for similar instances were a just as bad, if not worse, and with it being an always online game it means that they would for sure have their trophies reflected.

It's on GamePass. People could add it to their library but never get round to playing it. Or click on it by mistake to start it, then close it down.

I'm not sure what this post has to do with the upcoming Forza Motorsport title though.

It's possible people get gifted the game but never play it. @ImaRobot has a good point that people just aren't online. Another possibility is modding the game. Does Steam still count achievements if you use mods?

Might depend on the game, but I have two games I play where mods can easily help you grab achievements.

I think similar % patterns still apply to non-game pass games, I'll need to have a look in more detail. It was just a response to the huge sales figures being quoted. Apologies for the long screenshot size should've used desktop.

A lot of people try to explain it differently, mods, offline play etc, but of the % that we do have, they still drop rapidly across platforms, for achievements that are easy to get early on in games - there must be better, realistic figures for how many people will be playing fm8?

That is true for almost any racing game. I was just looking at Project Cars 2. 92% got the Rookie Licence but only 11% won a championship. Or if you look at Forza 6 that was never offered for free* on Gold or GamePass it has 83% on welcome to Forza. Something is going on sure.
Anyway the next FM will be on GP and will stay for many years so we will probably never know exact numbers anyway.

The only people that would really know are Microsoft themselves. Achievement system can be pretty glitchy as well.

I couldn't make it round the first lap of PC2 and have shelved it indefinitely. CBA with getting the controller to work right 😅

Same, platinum on GT Sport and GT7, but could barely manage a clean lap on PC2. I might have to reload it and give it another go while I wait for Turn 10 to get their **** together.

Microsoft, PD and Codies have really spoilt me when it comes to pad response. Criterion also got it right when they were around.

The unconfortable truth is... that PC3 is great with a pad and if you have a Series X you really should try it there, aesthetics be damned :scared:
PC1 didn't work on my Xbox One either due to juddery graphics. Twice bitten, thrice shy.

Agreed.

That game had some pretty big issues*, but "pad feel" wasn't necessarily one of them.

In fact it's one of the notable improvements over Project CARS 2.

*Although it's an Xbox One game, I wouldn't recommend playing it on that. Series X has enough power to brute-force past most of the game's optimisation issues.

Why did they bother to give us a glimmer of hope by spouting out "our forza franchise" on that one tweet then? Seriously it kinda comes off as personal at this point. Surely they must know how many people are waiting for news at this point (and not particularly happy about the wait either).

It might be copium but maybe they'll actually give us monthly updates for realzies after June. I'm desperately grasping for anything positive I can think of at this point because I don't like being overly negative, but man this wait is a bit grueling at this point. What little discussion exists for FM8 is mostly comprised of "wow I wish they'd release more new info" and it's eerily quiet everywhere.

The wait sucks ass. But it is what we will have to do....wait. I hope this means excessive polish.

This is up on their suggestions hub post:

FORZA MOTORSPORT

While we're focused on polishing and preparing Forza Motorsport for release later this year, we’re still keen to hear your feature and track requests, we can keep in mind what you want to see most for the future.
A driver in a cyan coloured race suit and helmet sitting in the 2020 Chevrolet #3 Corvette Racing C8.R with the door open. A blue and red 2020 Hyundai #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Veloster N can also be seen in the background.

Track Voting is a Motorsport-specific category, and we’re seeing strong passion from racing fans globally for Interlagos, which is the #1 voted track, followed by Fujimi Kaido in the runner-up position. While we’ll be revealing the full list of our 20 locations featured in Forza Motorsport closer to release, we want to hear from you which other tracks you’d like to see later on.

Yep. Welcome to PC gaming, where a lot of people have Steam libraries with literally hundreds of games that they've picked up for $5 or less over the last couple of decades, with the optimistic thought of "I'll play that one day, better get it while it's cheap".

Turns out it's just impossible to play that many games. And so you get lots of owners who have never even booted the game, or just booted it to check that it would run within the return window but never actually played.

So that's what we're doing today: attacking me?

It would be like Rio. Garbage for racing. Great for time trials.
I had fun racing on some layouts of Rio, but i would prefer they replaced with Interlagos or a São Paulo circuit based on Sambrodramo layouts used on Formula E and IndyCar

But my problem with Fujimi Kaido is the fact is a full on street racing track, and since Horizon is now a thing since Fujimi was last on Forza, i dont know if they would be motivated to put Fujimi instead of a circuit track

Unfortunately fans have been asking for it to be back for about 10 years now. Regardless of whether it is good for racing or not, it is a very popular request. the track is fun with lower class cars for racing(b to f classes), general drifting and 1v1 races (even as a photo spot and a track day location). Chris Esaki (creative director at T10) has made a statement last year saying that he has chosen these 20 tracks to be good for driving and racing. Fujimi would be good for the driving part (and racing slow cars, but thats an unlikely hopper lobby category) so it's not a bad choice. Plus they get to flex their Real Time Ray Tracing on Tracksystem as well as Built From The Ground Up© taglines. Would be a good cover track too.

Also to tack on, the Circuit Hakone that was shown in the trailers is set at the bottom of Mt. Fuji iirc. It would be cool if they joined Fujimi Kaido and Circuit Hakone as a tourist megatrack like a fictional Japanese alternative to the Green Hell.
