Gah, imagine the PR nightmare if the game launches with the same old forza aero and no other options. There was already heaps of it after the direct showed off that miata.

Also to tack on, the Circuit Hakone that was shown in the trailers is set at the bottom of Mt. Fuji iirc. It would be cool if they joined Fujimi Kaido and Circuit Hakone as a tourist megatrack like a fictional Japanese alternative to the Green Hell.
I think that Hakone was made EXACTLY to replace Fujimi, specially since both seems to be at same place (or at least closer) on the map

I guess the STO, the Mission R and 935 just got tired of "From the ground up" and staged their own Shawshank Redemption... I'm sure they will be happy around our Mexican beaches

No Suprise
people seems like Fujimi beacuse its Touge themed but i dont know how it would fit a modern motorsport game
Kinda says a bit about where the average Forza players head is at. I get the impression there's two main playerbases, a smaller one that wants modern GT3 at Spa, and a larger or at least more vocal one that wants to do nothing more than to smoke weed (based on the gamertags and paint jobs I've seen) and do drifting.
"Built from the ground up" should be permabanned in Forza. It's so overused and cliche-worthy.
Next thing they'll say is everything is laser scanned and this Forza will have the best wheel support EVAH!

Sorry, all sour grapes and more than a little jaded and sceptical, I'll go back to my corner now.

Plus they get to flex their Real Time Ray Tracing on Tracksystem
Did anyone else pick up on what followed the 'real-time RT on-track'... "to create true-to-life reflections on all smooth mirror and flat glass surfaces" (around 5m20s in the developer direct trailer)

I could be reading into it too much by thinking windscreens aren't flat, but coupled with quite a lot of shots not really showing much in the way of reflections from car windows, surely they'd be too big a detail to miss out, but something doesn't look very real about them compared to how windscreens in the real world reflect?

They appear ultra clear in game, where normally we see the sky.

Digital foundry did a video on this:

They can have all the cutting edge graphical features in the world, but it doesn't mean much if they don't have a great art direction. The tracks they've shown off so far look decent though so there's hope.

That being said though, I really hope they work on their headlight/taillight rendering as right now it's a bit mediocre and it REALLY shows on the old old models.

You forgot that those keep hyping lambonarikonesegg ExoticHyper Cars even if Forzas are extremly loaded with those, also think that JDM is just about late 90s japanese cars and not includes some fun little cars like c Honda N-One or the Nissan Sakura

everything is laser scanned
Actually Forza uses laser scan for some time already, they even had talked about it during a GDC

I bet racing will be 3 lap races with no qualifications lol.

I honestly i am more tired of the pessimism with the game than the waiting, game is not out yet but people keep the pessimism

I mean even the career mode wasnt even shown yet, and is planned to show only in june but people keep trashing the game like if it would make T10 or Xbox talk about the game faster

Looks great, but i remember Greenawalt always hyping things a lot, and especially graphics.

Good if they surprise us with a great all around sim but..i have my doubts.
Do you mean for multi-player? As qualification for single player events can make most races boring imo (judging by PC2) and you could change the length of career races in the last Forza Motorsport, it was something like (Short) 2-3, (Medium) 10-15 or (Long) 30-50. They should have sold that option in the build up, as GT doesn't even have option.

What about the handling of the car. It is much more important than the graphic. Think about assetto corsa 1 (on pc) it’s the best sim racing in 2023 and the game released in 2013 I think
Nothing everything has to be a sim though. I don't enjoy the AC games on a controller, feels like I've got flat tyres. PC 2 is OK, when the car is set up right and it's not raining. So personally as a long-time Forza fan I'd like them to borrow elements from those games but keep it controller friendly. I think where they went wrong with the last game was the upgrade system used to fit certain cars into groups, as cars felt so much better when you ran them stock imo.

In fm7 with my stering wheel, I probably put 10-20 hours on set up the wheel and tuning car. And it’s never feel right . The car has weird physics with the breaking and when I turn on a corner my cars oversteer. On a controller It’s feel better.

It's also somehow even more emblematic of the "two choices: GT3s on Spa / get high and do drifts" playerbase split mentioned upthread, only it was kind of pushed into that role by the modding community. (And I doubt that it'd have half the car mods it does now, including the actual licensed race cars I like to drive, if a whole bunch of models hadn't been ripped from Forza.)

For me it's the car handling they have to radically overhaul for this game because if there's one differentiator between this and Gran Turismo that means I'll always choose GT over Forza it's that I just like the way GT handles so much better. I find the handling in Forza frustrating - no grip, front tyres scrabbling for grip as the car skates and understeers across the track....I just don't like it or find it fun. And having played games like AC I don't even think its realistic. Racing cars stick to the road and let you attack, in Forza they drive like they're on Morris Minor tyres. Maybe it's just me. Dunno.

But even if it is, I really don't find FM7 much fun to play and am hoping this offers a completely overhauled driving experience. Forza has always been so good with the car list, the circuits, the sheer number of things you can do, but the underlying gameplay just doesn't do much for me.

Well they won't change Forza to appeal to you, because many have also had the opposite experience that you have had. I have found plenty of grip in Forza. Over and understeer is typically predictable. I have found the driving and damage physics better in Forza than in GT, but I still prefer GT because of the attention to detail is second to none when it comes to the car designs. Not to mention the lighting, and their bigger presence.

I really hope they work on the livery saving times, it feels like it takes forever to save a livery in fh5, or save upgrades on a car.

After playing better sims, you can definitely tell Forza lacks "bite" with its race cars with slicks and aero. When I was just playing Forza I didn't notice it really but after going back and forth with other titles it's painfully obvious, but it doesn't really ruin the experience or anything. It's not a sim anyways so I suppose it doesn't really matter from a "realism" point of view, and whether or not it would make it more enjoyable/exciting is personal preference based on what people are familiar with.

I still think the most important part is making the racing actually interesting. Races in FM7 are incredibly shallow with no strategy, no managing the car and mechanical sympathy, no managing tire temps/wear, no drafting, it's just flat out attack with very little risk for overstepping and it makes most of the races pretty boring and predictable in both single player and multiplayer. Fortunately it looks like they are working on that with tire compounds and stuff, but we have to wait and see if they will give us in-depth settings to control these things and see how deep they really are.

Maybe I need to give FM7 another go. I certainly don't expect them to change it based on the fact I individually dont like it, but I am a little bit surprised people seem to like the physics because I think the faster and more race-tuned the cars get, the worse the handling gets, and that's been the case since I can remember. Playing a game like ACC really rams home for me how unrealistic Forza is. For a simcade that's fine as long as its enjoyable, and clearly lots of people think it is so why would it change?

I suppose if my argument is "I want them to make it feel more like Gran Turismo", the obvious counter to that is "go and play Gran Turismo then!" But the thing is, I've always wished that I enjoyed the core driving experience of Forza more because there's so much that it gets so right.

I'm firmly in the camp of liking the handling. Yes it's different to everything else but that doesn't equal bad. I find the more gentle you are with all your inputs the quicker you are and feeling of satisfaction is increased. Once your in charge of self induced over/under steer it's surprising of how much you can push, improve and have fun.

Everyone has their own opinion how the game physics should be but all that matters is if the physics match what a vehicle would do IRL. Having some type of miracle box that measures Gforce, speed and other parameters would be great. But they can get enough data from different sources like magazine tests and race footage to simulate the vehicles actual performance. Race car drivers input is good but data doesn’t lie.
