In terms of races we didin’t get what we wanted in gt7, but gt7 offers a lot in career mode forza wont, like licenses, missions circuit experinces, forza as of late just have the races, but we still dont know yet what kind of career mode we will have in forza motorsport, until later today, i hope its good one and more simular to fm4, where you class racing, i also hope you start with slow car and build your way up
with that kind of AI, I wouldn't call that a "career" in gt7. They are liars and I used to be the biggest pro GT but I just moved on from that company. They promised a superhuman AI, sophie or whatever, they ended up giving us a stupid small demo. They promised a long roadmap with 24h races and more events.... yet there is nothing. If we're talking purely single-player, gt7 is washed up. I hope forza can deliver this time and not pull something similar. They've been doing great with horizon listening to the community and such, let's hope they follow through with motorsport.

That extra couple of dollars gives you some unique Forza Edition cars and double credits. It's a great deal to me, compared to those paltry few dollars extra.
I also didn't see £20 English money as much of a barrier to entry against the £70 price of the main game.

Aren't mission circuits and weekly #Forzathon roughly equivalent to each other? Set tasks that you have to omplete with a specific vehicle or group of vehicles?

I'm not sure as I haven't gone back to GT7 after the first week or so's play as once the café menus and most of the licence tests were done, I wasn't really sure what to do next and it was difficult to progress without in game cash. It's a shame as I was hoping to play the game for months, not days. Perhaps I should give it another chance but I don't use my PS4 for any other games.

I'm glad I didn't buy the latest console to play it as I did with GT5 at the time. I didn't play that game for very long either although GT6 was better for me.

If FM2023 turns out to be a dud, at least I have quite a few other games on the Xbox to keep me occupied. I was surprised at how much I got out of FM7's career, though, so would expect to play the upcoming game for longer than I did GT.
Fm7 was my least favorite motorsport game, i hope a good change from that with new motorsport, gt7 is completly different game now than on launch ps5 has some advantages and full vr support was a good change, the races is still a bit dissapointing, but still a lot of quality of life improvment has been made, i play both forza and gran turismo,

It's £30 extra, over the full game price or as an add-on to Gamepass. You can buy a whole other game for that.

It's only £30 extra if you buy the bundle separately. The premium edition is only £20 more than the base game.
If I already have Gamepass why would I buy the full game?
Isn't that the point of the whole service, that you don't have to? Or have I fallen for all the marketing spin?

It's a good thing I didn't pay anywhere near full price for all those months of GP.

I'm just addressing the first part of your original post about "over the full game price". But if you don't intend to buy the base game I don't see why you'd want to buy the add ons bundle either. It's not essential to playing the game.

Show me one Triple A game or even a new game with any sort of following for $30. Retail price on most games now is $50 - $60.

I would argue the point of the Game Pass is to let you try any game you want as long as you're subscribed, the implication being that it's an amazing deal if you plan to play more than one game or discover as much of the library on GP as possible.
If you only really want one or two games and you plan to spend most of your time playing that, buying them outright is the better deal.

To illustrate what I mean, I can mention how I purchased Forza Horizon 5 as soon as it was available and I started playing since day 1 for premium players - November 5 2021. I have about 1,000 hours on it and I spent about 100 EUR since I got the ultimate edition. November 2021 was 19 months ago. If I had gotten the game with XGP, I would have had to pay for it every month, naturally. 19 months of XGP at the standard subscription rate is 190 EUR. Considering I can only really play one game at a time and most of my gaming time in a given week is spent on FH5, that would have been a terrible deal for me.

Now, if I paid the same price to discover a dozen different games over the same 19-month period, supposing they're all full-priced 60 EUR games, then instead of spending 720 EUR to buy each of those 12 games individually and play each one a little bit, XGP would've let me experience the same games for the same 190 EUR price.

TL;DR: In my sincere opinion, you get the most value for your money with XGP if you play multiple games. If you only really plan to use your Game Pass for one game, you're losing out.

Extra opinion: That very fact is also why XGP is absolutely not for me. With a subscription enabled I would feel pressured to get the most out of it, because every day I do not spend playing is a day I am not using my subscription for what it's worth. I much prefer one-time purchases even if the barrier of entry is higher, because at least I can stick the game in my backlog and get to it when I get to it. Time not spent playing games on XGP is still billed all the same each month. Of course, that's just my opinion, it's what works best for me, your circumstances/lifestyle/etc may be different.

(edits to correct my maths)

I agree, this is pretty much how I use it, to try out multiple games I wouldn't usually get if they were full price.

That's not really my issue, it's more the prevalence of these deluxe editions with content that would've been included in the base game in the past. Doesn't really bother me when it's cosmetic items as with Jedi Survivor or Hogwarts Legacy, for example. A bit more annoying when it's actual cars in a car game, or double credits to reduce the grind (quite similar to microtransaction credits, just an upfront cost rather than adhoc buys), or early access in a multiplayer game.

I hate it but the horse has bolted, it seems to have been accepted as a standard thing by the gaming community. Maybe I'm just getting old and shouting at clouds.

I'll still likely be playing the game - just jumping in a bit later and only having the basic content.

Definitely waiting for more info today… The trailer really didn’t do anything for me… I am praying for a couple of things.. Customization… are we finally going to have different exhaust setup/Sounds not just when you change the bumper? It makes me cry making your car faster and having the same exhaust or same exhaust note as stock… are we going to be able to have window stickers on our cars? It’s cool to run your own series with window banners.. I would love to have this In FM. Can we paint the brakes like before I have no clue why they took that out… Wheel support is huge for me also! GT7 after the update from before feels amazing! I would like to enjoy racing with wheel… I’m pumped up For A new FM can’t wait to hear the information!

fh5 already does this, changing the exhaust alters the pitch of the exhaust note

The new career mode looks fantastic.

Gives a reason to use different cars, has you invest in cars by leveling them, and gives you a reason to use them to unlock new upgrades.

Not to mention the new leveling while driving and each corner being a separate challenge.

Being able to hold on to your money for buying new cars and using xp points to buy parts is nice too.

The little we saw of the new AI looks great too, no more cheating AI is fantastic.

People can now stop calling this Forza 7 but prettier.

The better you drive, the faster the car levels. Level 50 max and a good driver will hit 50 in about three hours.

That was my literal first thought too. I yelled at the screen: "Well THAT'S an incentive to drive everything!" Genuinely this is exciting. Happy to see they took "CaRPG" to heart.

I feel like we're pretty much at the point where both superphotorealistic graphics and physics are going to give us diminishing returns -- that they'll always be worth refining and improving, but the changes and advancements may no longer be noticeable enough in themselves to impress most people. What to do with the engines that run off these graphics and physics is what should make or break them, and what so many hardcore sims forget in the race for realism and fidelity is that just giving people a bunch of cars and tracks and going "do whatever, go nuts" without any context or incentive isn't always the most compelling approach: they're sims that forget or refuse to acknowledge that they're also games. It looks like T10 knows this enough to make it an important aspect of career mode, and if their approach this time around is to get players to focus on really getting to know a car en route to tailoring it to their particular driving style and interests, I'm optimistic that'll feel pretty fulfilling as a singleplayer experience -- the whole "carPG" framing is what keeps me coming back, even if most of what it does is simply incentivize and "gamify" the feeling of a race weekend.

The only thing I'm iffy on is upgrades being locked behind the leveling.

To be honest, it's a bold choice. I can live with upgrades being locked behind the leveling if the leveling isn't excruciating. Conceptually it's amazing - yes, please give me incentives to actually drive and unlock stuff! How many posts have been complaining about how Forza just gives away stuff like candy?

In practice, all they have to do is not fall into the "Sense of pride and accomplishment" trap. It shouldn't be a chore to unlock the parts you want. I imagine different cars will not have the same parts unlockable (e.g., some cars just come with some upgrades already installed, etc.) so upgrade unlock rates won't be the same across the board.
