So far we can only see the graphics, and we won't know how it feels on a wheel (hopefully competitive). From all the talk about physics and feel for the last 4 years, it seems they really want an intuitive feeling sim with all the bells and whistles of a AAA game.
i feel like arguing about how bad it handles should be saved till we get out hands on it.

On the other hand we can compare how far the graphics have come. I know people hate talking about graphics, because they think it detracts from a sim, but i disagree because it needs to be immersive. MS aren't doing VR for now, so it has to look good on a standard display. I know a lot of people still play PC2 on VR for an amazing experience too.

I've always hated how Forza's engine renders chrome so if this is legit gameplay, I'm pretty pleased with this update.

Chrome is finally pleasing to look at.

The updated specular highlights (I assume similar to FH5) are also a big improvement. I feel like Forza graphics were pretty static from FM4 up until FH4 with improvements to resolution and mesh quality - the games have always looked off to me, too reliant on those moving cube maps and other sub-optimal contrivances (the hood view SSRs are particularly unpleasant once you see their limitations). The motorsport games in particular have just been a little ugly to look at for me, somehow harsh. This feels like the first genuine step up. It's still a bit on the "artistic" side of the visual spectrum, but it looks pretty natural now. Also, thank god they finally re-modeled the Dodge Charger.

Very curious about this. What signs point to this?
I'm curious because most people i have seen just call all the car models 'carried over'.
I'm not certain. All I can say is that has always looked wrong* in Forza (like many cars) and in those images, it doesn't look wrong anymore. I hope they remodel everything that wasn't a new inclusion from at least FM5 onwards.

*Look at the thumbnail image here. It looks like a salvage title car that's been put on a frame straightener or something...it's just not right. The one in the FM8 materials looks much more accurate.

Was a long time Xbox and Forza guy but haven't touched It since 2018'ish. Have heard all this speak before from Turn 10. Hopefully they do deliver because it's certainly time to upgrade the PC.

Thats all i've ever read about "cars are wrong" in Forza. Still today i wait for proper proof where its cleary to see.

Those charger pics: I'm sorry but the only difference i can see is one is blue the other orange :D
There's plenty of evidence. R32 Skyline - red is laser scanned mesh, black is the Forza mesh. Google "Silvia Forza model wrong" and you'll get a lot of results similar to this.

For most cars it's not so wrong that you don't recognize the car, but its wrong enough to look distracting and put you in the uncanny valley if you are more perceptive. I do design work for a living so I'm pretty detail oriented. This is pretty much every car included in a Forza title before FM5 in my opinion. I'm pretty sure they subcontracted out the modeling or modeled from 2-dimensional drawings rather than sourcing actual cars. This combined with the weird/harsh lighting and poor reflections implementation has always given me a bad vibe about Forza games, at least up until FH3 which improved things somewhat with the lighting.

People know me as the ultimate Forza hater, although that isn't completely true anyway. But I will admit this does look good... I shall stay tuned because this could be the true sequel to FM4, in my view at least.

I mean I also thought GT7 would be the true sequel to GT4, oh how wrong I was...

Interesting.

I have seen the r32 and the s14 as the two most common ones. Are there any other major ones?

Let's be honest, Most People are talking out of the rear. Unless they're working on FM then they are just speculating, throwing crap on a wall. With thousands of people throwing crap out there some will stick, and 99% will be out of pure luck. Not some insight they possess.

So, i quickly looked up the leaked car lists from FH4 and FH5, and kept only the racecars (that aren't in any current game).

The ones in yellow are confirmed for FM

Honestly, if you look close enough, it's pretty much the entire roster of the first 4 (motorsports) games. Ones that are particularly bad, for me:

Subaru 22b (still bad as of FH5)
Ferrari F355 (still bad as of FH5)
Ferrari F40 (fixed at some point)
Honda NSX (fixed at some point)
Lamborghini Countach (still bad as of FH5)
Ferrari 246 (still bad as of FH5)
TVR Sagaris (still bad as of FH5)
Acura RSX (still bad as of FH5)
Acura Integra (fixed at some point)
BMW E30 (still bad as of FH5)
BMW E46 (still bad as of FH5)
Chevy Chevelle (still bad as of FH5)
All of the old Corvettes (still bad as of FH5)
Honda S2000 (still!)
FD RX-7 (still bad as of FH5)
FC Rx-7 (fixed at some point)
350z (still bad as of FH5)
370z (still bad as of FH5)
996 GT3 (still bad as of FH5)
Golf R32 (still bad as of FH5)

In the first two games it was sort of forgivable and honestly wasn't really distracting considering the relatively low fidelity (mesh and resolution) of the game overall and the kind of smudgy/bloomy presentation. But as the games got sharper and more photorealistic in their presentation, and with the laser scanned assets brought in later, the poorer assets have become really distracting.

Man, I remember when the CR was introduced in the franchise, it really highlighted how poor the base S2000 had aged to me.

The f40 is only partially fixed, same with the f50 and Enzo they used to be abysmal but were modified to be closer but were only modifications of the original models. They need to be scanned for 100% accuracy.

The base S2000, 22B, and Sagaris are so poorly modeled that I refuse to even use them in the game.

I was honestly being pretty charitable. Realistically, every Ferrari included in the first 3 games wasn't good enough for even X360 era, but most of those assets are still hanging around as of FH5. The 360, F430, Testarossa, 288 GTO etc.

edit: Ok ONE more just because this is another one that has always bothered me. They made the countach fat in the middle. It's not as far off as some others, but it just doesn't look right the way "other" games models do. It looks like a good kit car, almost there, but just not quite.

Its like every point on the surface is with 5% of where it's supposed to be, but everything is just sort of wrong. Like the tail lights just aren't the right size. The curvature behind the door is exaggerated. The wheels are not quite right. It just drives me nuts.

I've always wanted to own a Forza Motorsport game and I'll now have the opportunity to do so on PC! I just hope it runs properly.

Forza's version seems to be matching this one, if you remove the ugly bumper guards and whatever cover they have on the rear for safety purposes.

This one matches it even better:

Some of forza models is bad, take look at Ferrari f50 its much better detailed in gts and gt7, very noticeable even during gameplay

I hope the shuffled championships return(FM4?). I liked going through the tiers(economy cars to race cars) and then restarting a new Championship. Each time, slightly different than the last.
