GT does it, so having to model custom exhausts is just a lame excuse.
It's a very legitimate excuse considering how much they have to focus on that actually matters, all things considered.

Lame excuse, do you also think it's ok to have a steering wheel rotate only 90 degrees in each side?
As far as I know, GT7 also doesn't have time and weather on every single track. This is extremely minor in comparison. Would I like it? Absolutely. It's just dumb to label something as such just because another game does it.

Forza has a very useful zoomed in cockpit view which doesn't show the wheel or shifter and gives you a much better base field of view which you can then adjust later (assuming FM2023 gets the PC FoV changers from FH5) - highly recommended when racing with your own wheel - who wants to watch your own wheel and an in game wheel at the same time? Not me, and not most (all?) simracers.

Besides, since 99%+ of all Forza users are controller drivers, 90 degrees wheel movement isn't a big thing. Especially since presumably almost nobody drives with the wheel view, choosing either chase cam, bonnet cam or zoomed in cockpit cam.

I've seen lots of GT7 videos with the camera on the roof, since there's no bonnet cam or zoomed in cockpit cam. It looks utterly crap. They badly need some better camera angles for non-VR players :D

I am also one of the guys thats asking for a better interior wheel animation and such. But comparing it with GT7 in areas that its lacking is weird since you can make a even bigger list for GT7 where its lacking compared to Forza.

This also, the real wheel users love the zoomed in no wheel cockpit view better than all the views that is currently available in GT7 (outside VR). It wil be better if we have a bit more freedom with the cam like AC and PC for the interior tho. Forza Horizon 5 made made some good improvements on this.

The aspect of the game I really want to know more about is the weather system. Having weather on all tracks is great, my only question is are the tracks going to get dynamically altered. I Just did the 30 min LeMans race in GT7 and it’s so much fun! The weather is different every race, it was a crazy down pour in the first 4 laps, I should of got a Intermediate tires but I thought it wasn’t going to be bad.. I was wrong and so was the AI. I spun a couple times lol. Finally got to the pits and put on the intermediate, and even though the the rain stopped the track was still wet enough for my tires so it was an easy win.

Im wondering how FM is going to deal with weather and I hope it’s not like FM7 and a bit more challenging. A grid of 24 with dynamic time and weather is gonna be so fun I just hope they reworked the weather system!

From what I can tell, career races are always pre-set. The weather will be the same every time. Custom races can be fully dynamic.

Edit to add: The atmospheric graphics of FM looks very similar to MS Flight Simulator. MSFS was built on the Forzatech engine. I wouldn't be surprised if the same dynamic weather, or maybe a scaled-back version of it, makes it into FM. And MSFS's weather is incredible.

This plus 24-hour races on all tracks sounds very promising for some of us who enjoy endurance events...

This cockpit view, which the options menu refer to as "dashboard view", is how I've been racing since FH4. It's just nice overall to not have the wheel distract you when you're trying to race in this viewmode. I'd be shocked if it didn't return.

Last offtopic post for awhile... promise. 😇
DiRT Rally 2.0 is fun because it’s hard.

It’s even more fun when you’re comfortable and start pushing the limits of your bravery.
It's not fun at all. It's frustrating, terrifying and unforgiving.
No idea what you mean, all the cars are really easy to handle with a controller and have absolutely no problems at all with stability when braking hard. :D

Yeah, and they do it the right way, so that it's not intrusive and barely noticeable. Same as GT7, Assetto Corsa or BeamNG.Drive. It's just Forza games where they f-d up the controller steering input.

I am going to have to vehemently disagree with you there. Forza's filtering means the game is usable no matter how little controller skills you have. You are basically stating "I am very nuanced with my thumb stick so for me I want less filtering, and my thumb doesn't get tired doing long races with tiny nuanced movements". Good for you. For the rest of us, not so much.

Funny GT being mentioned there. Everytime you bring it up, it's a bit ironic. Oddly enough, I haven't found it difficult to switch from any games with baked-in filters on the controllers, with Forza and GT typically being the easiest considering they've had more or less similar filtering. I always found those two the easiest to jump between. Maybe its a you thing, and not a game thing.

NFS on the other hand, its just outright terrible all around and I never cared to adjust to that one.

did anyone download this before it got taken down?

The footage has RT (Both Reflections and Shadows, potentially Full RTGI) like the trailer. could be PC footage. Unfortunately it is compressed significantly.
found it:

One thing to note is that this is not the same as the iRacing version. Look at the vents in the cockpit, also the wiper position. The forza footage is using the Dashboard cam, so steering wheel isn't visible.

  • 2018 Audi #108 Audi RS3 LMS
  • 2013 Audi RS5 DTM
  • 2012 Audi A5 Touring Car
  • 2018 #23 Chevrolet Corvette TA Class (it would be the Trans AM Forza debut)
  • 1966 Cooper T81
  • 1988 Chevrolet Penske PC17
  • 1990 #20 Benetton B190
  • 1994 Mercedes-Benz Penske PC23
  • 2018 Mercedes-AMG GT4 (GT3 is already confirmed)
  • 2013 Mercedes-Benz C-Class DTM
  • 2018 #7 Peugeot 308 TCR (At this point is likely they have a TCR Deal)
  • 1958 Porsche #34 718 RSK
  • 2013 Renualt GP2
  • 2013 Renault Formula 1.6
  • 2013 Renault Formula 2.0
  • 2013 Renault Formula 3.5
  • 1976 Tyrrell #3 P34

----------- Bellow line are cars and companies that were for some reason on game files but no confirmation that cars were on FH5 -----------------------------------------------------------
  • Reynard Motorsport
  • Lyfe Motorsport
  • Nett Motorsports
  • Ginetta

It had also some recent indycars from last decade but i doubt they will put those cars with the new indycar exclusivity, but i know older CART cars were on other games like Automobilista so those are prone to show up

Well found! This lighting model looks WAY closer to what I was expecting.
Let's hope their future preview videos use proper lighting instead of what we got in the first one.

This looks soo good, this must be running on pc. And its nice to see rt reflection in the interior and exterior during gameplay.

Ah so that's where the mysterious video came from, somebody posted it in a discord server I'm in and I've been wondering about it all day! Looks like I'll have to keep a closer eye on the regional accounts now.

A few other cars (around 2013 model year) on that list were apparently there as physics references for FM5.
If they had scan the cars, it is possible they will put in game due the fact they need something to put instead of the licenses FM will lose from FM7, the most notable and already obivus are the NASCAR and IndyCar licence

I think some old IndyCars and some other types of open wheel will show up to replace the lost indycars

IDK about NASCAR, they could use the same car used on FH5 or bring back the stock cars from FM4, there other stock car series like SRX that dont have exclusive deals as far i know that would be able to scan the cars as well.

Looking nice now, really hope xbox is close to this, even if we have to run it at that video resolution.

Sounds are good too, possibly even has some road noise in there. Wouldn't mind some bass enhancers on there, or an EQ for us to control audio in settings to really bring out the low end.
