Well the track update is good
Hope one day spa got a update.

Yes, I noticed that many lights (headlights, taillights and track lighting) now have a twinkle and shimmer that they didn't have before. Try Sunset Peninsula at night with clear weather and you'll see.
Played with friends and yeah i noticed that,i had good time to drift and race on Sunset Peninsula also the spectator mode is great too(first time i used it).

So...not only do they bring Mustang month, but they bring the Dark Horse, Cobra R, '67 GT500 and Trans Am Mustang along with it. Yep, I'm definitely finding the time to play during this update. The Cobra R and GT500 make it worth it to me.

After spending most of my time with the Series X yesterday, I can confidently say that Performance RT is now the best visual mode available, and I recommend anyone with a gaming TV with good HDR to test it.

And the AI has improved to the point that you can have legitimately fun races with them, and they will catch and pass you if you lose pace.
The AI seem faster and more competitive now which is good but yet again I have still seen some crazy mistakes. Bunching up after some starts and running off track at times for no reason. Not as much as before but after half a dozen AI updates I would think this would be fully squashed.

It can look rough during night races, esp in the wet though. I was pretty shocked, made me think of how Project Cars 2s graphics also suffer during night races. (*This was before the update, so don't know if they've managed to improve things)

Update is cool and all, but the situation with come-and-go mechanics just got even worse.

The 2015 Formula Drift Mustang is apparently exclusive to the Challenge Hub, and while the requirements are easy, it's still possible to miss out on it, without it ever coming to the Showroom and as a rental car in Free Play.

That aside, the Acura Integra, Chevy C7.R and Pagani Huayra R all roar like thunder now and I'm enjoying the new and modern Sunset Peninsula. Gives me some form of FM4 nostalgia.
The 2025 Formula Drift #13 Ford Mustang was added to the Showroom for 205,000 CR along with the other three FD cars yesterday. The #13 can also be earned as a reward from the Challenge Hub if you want to save some credits, but it'll still be available to collect from the Showroom at any time.

The Alpine for this weekend's GP promoting upcoming Indiana Jones game. (It's an Alpine, not a McLaren with BWT stickers:lol:)

I don't know what reasons there are for this car not to be in Forza whit this livery or the original blue/pink.

In previous Forza games we had the Renault and the Lotus.

Was there any undocumented changes to physics? I could be wrong but it feels like stock tires grip more and body roll is much stronger prior to new update 🤔
Somebody else mentioned the same thing and to me cars do feel a little more grippy? I guess that's the word. Something definitely feels a little tweaked in the grip/physics department.

The trees in those comparison shots are really improved. That was one area in the new graphics which still didn't look so good at launch, so I'm happy to see it.

I suspected the 12-month watermark was when we were going to see more content-packed updates. While I don't expect update 14 to bring another boatload of new-to-FM23 cars, it'd seem that I've been vindicated by this Mustang Bonanza.

Alas, my Xbox decided it would much rather download the whole game again this time around. Should be done by now... I'm really looking forward to giving the old Trans Am Boss a spin 'round Laguna Seca, and comparing its mouthfeel with Pessio's excellent unlicensed Assetto Corsa rendition... I may or may not do a couple of historic liveries for it, as well. After all, I've plenty of reference pictures already.

Licensing is why.

There was a post on Reddit that claimed Formula 1 will only license 1 car per game outside their officially licensed games, but IDK if that's the complete case (a question probably best answered by @PJTierney if he can reveal such info).

^^^^^ Maybe they should dial back the graphics as this is the first time I've witnessed performance hiccups in a Forza game during a race (menus are a different story), I've always admired T10 for that. 🙁

It reminds me when Horizon 5 tried to change physics in Update 9 secretly and it was awesome but jelly builds and high powered jeeps and suv's just rolled over in sharp turns (which felt reel but whatever) so people wanted the old ones back. They dialed the effects down but it was great at least for a month because cars felt more real with better weight transfer and bodyroll and ABS OFF setting worked better too at least much better than at launch 😅

I haven't in Series X but I did notice some stuttering at the start of free play races on PC, but in my case they clear by restarting the race, so they most likely will patch that, hopefully very soon.

Yeah, I did that and it was better but then it happened again in the next race at a different track. While I know they'll probably fix it, it's just sad to see T10 lose the one thing I always gave them credit for.

We have league races on Mondays which unfortunately T10 moved their update day to back in April or whatever, and after the update the other day we did have several people experiencing stutters in a meetup style lobby while practicing, on both PC and XSX. Once we got to the actual races though it seemed to be okay for everyone.

Did it get stuck on "Updating..." or "Starting update..." or whatever it says before it actually starts downloading anything?

I've had that for every FM8 update since May where it caused me to miss a league race while the entire game downloaded again.

If the download won't start and you restart the console (or apparently leave it sit on "Updating..." for too long according to one of our league members who experienced it), then yeah you will have to redownload the whole game, which for some people isn't a big deal as they have fast internet.

I've posted it in here a couple of times and always debate posting a PSA before updates but it doesn't seem too many people experience the issue, but if it gets stuck on "Updating..." if you pause the update, then resume the update, it should start downloading like normal. It will often take several clicks of the "Pause all" in the Queue and "Pause update" specifically on the game and a few minutes of waiting, but it should eventually change to "Paused" then you can either click the "Resume all" thing in the Queue or specifically on the game.

Hopefully this can save you some time on future updates.

I don’t know the specifics regarding other games (especially for “current year” cars), but for driving a full grid and representing the Formula 1 World Championship (ie: all cars, drivers, tracks), EA has the exclusive rights on HD platforms (ie: console/PC).

F1 cars to appear in other games, but very rarely a current season car from what I can tell.

I’d like a modern F1 car in Forza though, but for now the AMR Pro is a very decent substitute and a lot of fun to drive at the limit.

My club also races on Mondays. Fortunately we didn’t have many issues with this update, though there is a bug in Multiplayer where the first time you enter Practice/Qualifying you’re locked to 100% fuel.

So up until today I was always doing test drive mode in free play to do hot laps, but today I decided to try circuit race mode for the first time to start getting into custom races. Late to the party I know. With all the options they give my imagination was running wild to do some open wheel or multiclass sports car races. Imagine my surprise to find out there's no option to do open practice or qualifying in free play. I've gotten so used to it from the builders cup and online races, it makes jumping right into a grid start feel strange.

I have a little hope that they will introduce qualifying to freeplay. Every other update they seem to add something to freeplay and that's one of the most requested things along with splitting up Forza GT division. Give it time and I bet they will add it in

I think Forza Horizon 5 will go to PlayStation in the next year or so. It'll sell very well if it does.
Very doubtful for a title that is now three years old and with no compelling future once the delisting process probably begins two or three years from now. Too late by now. Regardless, putting games like Forza on Playstation only seems like a good idea if Microsoft is prepared to quit the gaming console business.
Less so Forza Motorsport because Gran Turismo 7 exists and would have the track racer market captured.
In that case I doubt they would distinguish between circuit vs. road racing. Both FH and FM would steal GT7 market shares and vice versa.

What’s the logic behind this?
Not really applying rigorous logic here, it's more of a hunch that I've had for a while and came from discussing with friends how Horizon 5 wasn't nearly as polished in its first year of life. That seems to be the pattern with all the latest Forza games, both Motorsport and Horizon. With Forza Horizon 4 and 5, we started seeing serious bugs squashed, multiple new cars per season and things like new game modes, parts and features around that mark. I am starting to doubt it's coincidence. Year One is Car Pass content, pre-planned stuff that they didn't implement at launch, and some band-aid fixes and improvements, and Year Two is where the game finally starts to come together. How did we start FM23's Year Two? With the first all-new track they added since the launch of the game (although Sunset Peninsula is returning from FM4, and one could argue Road Atlanta is an "all new" replacement to Road Whateverlanta as well), more new-to-FM cars than in the last six updates combined, a brand-new drift mode, and highly-requested options for private multiplayer lobbies.
I know, I know, Forza Motorsport's developed by a different studio, and one can't just assume they'd hold similar post-launch development schedules just because their product's name starts with "Forza", but I'm not surprised to see a similar tempo with T10's updates.

I did all that and I was still stuck; then my console just decided to reboot.

Oh, well - thankfully, I was in no rush to play Forza, or I'd be a lot more annoyed by having to redownload the whole game...

Loving the drift mode. Just took the FD Supra for a run around Sunset's club track and really enjoyed trying to keep the car sideways and on track too. I can see myself spending some quality time trying to channel my inner Kawabata and improve my skills. Kudos also for the extra information on screen showing speed and angle its a nice addition to the mode.

Big fan of Sunset Peninsulas return, I love how the infield isn't a freeways width wide the whole way round like how Grand Oak and Hakone are, there's actually braking zones and places to pass. It's shorter than I remember, but I guess that just comes from not having raced on it in 12 years.
