Forza

Come on swift, you don't have to pretend that you don't find smashing things fun!

The Real Driving Simulator, So long as you don't crash....or push the car TOO hard

I agree with you 100% code_kev..
I don't mind if car damage is in a game or not, but GT has this big slogan "The Real Driving Simulator" Maybe it should read "The Real Driving Simulator, So long as you don't crash".. Having said that the could make 10 GT games, all without damage, I would still buy 'em all!!!

As would I. It's all a matter of preference.

Sure, Burnout 3 is lots of fun. But what I'm saying is that in a game with such precision as GT, adding damage will take a lot tweaking and testing. I mean, can you imagine the Daytona like battles that could insue if you can run someone into the wall and cap their top speed or braking ability? I'm just saying it's something that has to be taken very seriously. It could easily make or brake a game.

Swift, I never suggested daytona style damage in a sim, I ofc meant realistic style damage.

Cool, but what is realistic? I mean, unless they went and wrecked a whole bunch of cars in various tests, how could they even get close to being realistic. That's what I'm saying.

When I said Daytona style battles I meant the "rubbing" battles that go on in Nascar races.

I mean honestly, if you hit a wall at 80 IRL in a reguar car(like most in forza/GT) you're car would be pretty much done. And if that's how damage is going to be in Forza, that would get old really quick.

...... I will give it that, but the fact that GT4 lacks car damage, how can you say it looks more realistic than Forza?...... Can't figure that one out!
Maybe it is simply because many people find it hard to believe that driving a smashed up Ferrari #12 Risi Competizione F333SP like a bat out of hell when the entire front end is crumpled up, the spoiler is twisted, the windshield is completely shattered, etc...... to be somewhat unrealistic.

I also own a PS2, Xbox, and GC, and I will get Forza as well as GT4 and Enthusia.

I will say that I have won the three lap race on the Laguna Seca demo with every car that is available. I realize that the F333SP is the best car in the demo, and my present goal is to break the 1' 12"/lap barrier. I was messing around with it yesterday, made a bad turn entering the home stretch, and decided to have some REAL fun.

I waited for the Toyota #27 GT-One to pass, and then pushed him as far as possible up against the tire wall in the north end of the sand pit at the first turn. I kept harassing him for a good while, keeping him boxed in and basically ramming him until I got bored, and eventually let him go. Well, he manages to get back on track and continue on his merry way around Laguna Seca, in REVERSE. Funniest AI glitch that I have ever seen in a racing game.

M$: our AI may not be the best, but our cars suffer major superficial damage and our drivers suffer major mental damage.

here's forza's nurb, I dont know whether to laugh or be impressed to be honest

Gt4's nurb remains the king of looks and design. I thought forza's nurb would look better than pgr2's :indiff:

The trees look really nice, and the texture quality wizzes on GT4s, but it doesn't look as realistic.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news cobra, but the nurb isn't the best looking track on GT4 by a LONG LONG LONG way. It's pretty plain.

The textures aren't better. They're smoother. That's the whole game's problem.

Aren't you complementing GT4 in that second sentence? Fanboy.

Well we have opinions, and that's your opinion. I should have said gt4's nurb is the best looking for me, so no craziness would start. Like I have said many times, gt4's nurb looks more realistic than any nurb featured in any racer. To be honest code, forza's nurb looks like crap, the textures suck and the trees suck. Everything looks hazy, what's up with that and there aren't enough trees around. I'm not in the least impressed with forza's nurb, it looks pathetic and weak.

As far as this GT4 v Forza debate goes I will be buying both, I still think GT4 will be the beter overall game but Forza has some great features GT4 doesn't have, especially the online mode.

Yes I am you trumpet, I'm a GT fan :P

When I said better textures, I meant sharper and smoother ofc.

Umm How can fully 3d trees suck compared to the paper cut outs? MY BRAIN FAILS TO UNDERSTAND THIS LOGIC ARGGG!!!

Pathetic and weak? Looks ok to me, nothing amazing, but certainly not bad.

Neither pgr2 or forza have that hunting look the gt4 nurb has :P damn those nurb pics of forza make it look like a nfs game for some reason. Ok, maybe pathetic and weak were too mean, I take it back but gezz, it looks nothing like the nurb.

Same here.

Just copied this thread from the Official Xbox UK Magazine forum:

Forza Demo-thread

From what I saw of the exclusive trailer on Gametrailers (Forza Demo-Trailer), I didn't think i was that hot. I own both a PS2 and Xbox (both bought them on launch-day) so I'm not being fanboy-ish.

If you read Barred comments:

- no enviromental mapping
- cars feel like there on ice
- A.I. that has no regard for your car

I know GT4 will be great.

I have no clue what Forza will be about. It could still be a good game, but I have enough "good" games. I only want the best.

i checked out that link to the vid of someone playing the game & i dont think i am that impressed with it too much. i am sure i could adjust & get used to it, but it doesn't seem to be that good. i am impressed that they have 2 tracks i long to play on GT though...... Road Atlanta & Road America
maybe with all the LeMans cars & the news of LeMans being in GT4, they might have am ALMS raace @ Road Atlanta. Panoz cars are in, no reason why Dr. Panoz's race track shouldn't be in.

because the paper cutouts look better and were done better than the shabby 3D trees in forza....that's how.
