Forza

Heh ^^^ a pretty low estimate if you ask me  Doesn't bother me too much, since I like to collectioneer though. :)
And NO, there IS NO Porsche, Ferrari, or Lamborghini!!! :grumpy: at EA

Anyways, I don't think that Forza holds a candle up to GT4... The production quality in the latter far superior. The screen shots I've seen of Forza don't look anything as good as GT. I despise the plasticy feel; it has its advantages (whatever those may be :)) but is not realistic. Perhaps I'm just a fanboy :D

Forza will never get GT's courses, and my... wouldn't it be a pain to say, " *sigh*. I wish I could race that on Trial Mountain :D
EA took Porsche, Ferrari, and Lambo then the rights to the NFL's game. What's next? 👎

You know ESPN is fighting with EA about that?
Also @ flamingwonky, I doubt any game will get GT4's courses, b/c most of them are put together and made-up. Only real world courses will get into other ganes.
Other companies don't know what KY used to build Trial Mountain, Grand Valley Speedway, etc., but that doesn't mean they can't come with their own.

PS: I like the PGR2 Carrera GT more than Forza's. MY real problem with Forza is the wheels at high speeds. Cars wheels at high speeds don't like that, and so far, every car in the game have wheels when at high speeds, look all the same, just different colors. At least PGR2 got it right for their cars.

I really do hope to see PGR return for a 3rd installment. But that may happen on the XBox 2. Why can't all these companies just get along, with GT4's graphics and cars, PGR2's cars and tracks, and modes, and EA's right to the cars.

Oh yeah, I see the ultimate game now, but it will never come out. :guilty:

Yeah that would be nice if they could all just get along.

Yeah, but the again, going against what I said earlier, if they made the ultimate car game, there'd be no need for another car game.

If EA took its Burnout 3, and NFS (Not Underground) titles...
IF PD took GT4's power...
If R* took its big title...

Actually, that would turn into the game I'd love to see. It'd definately be a long-a** post if I typed out all the details, but put it this way...

GTA game mixed with GT4 and the NFS series games, and maybe a dash of the Half-Life 2 engine, and Doom 3's lighting effects, and now set it all in one big made up city that takes a little of Vegas, LA, San Francisco, Miami, New York, and...

BAM!

My dream game!

He was replying to your post above that on when you asked why no lamborghini.
And flamingwonky, its better to have recieve RUF than Porsche.

EA probably had no idea about Ruf thank goodness. And that may be because neither company really has anything to do with each other besides sharing a body style.

Sure, but I'd prefer Porsche to RUF any day, just for the historical value. I own NFS: Porsche Unleashed, and there's a lot of Porsche to be had... :). Think of it: 356, 914, 924, 944, 968, 550, racing GT's. Not just the boring old 911 mods anymore. I think PD could and would add at least 20 Porsches if they owned the rights. About RUF: I'm partial. At least they make some potent fire-breathers. :sly:

-Considerting all the companies getting along, meh it would loosen competition, although the concept of sharing is interesting.
-I never said that other games will ever have GT's fantasy tracks. I commented that the player of these unscrupulous rip-offs will want them to test out 'machinery'

I saw it on Cinematech. Looked pretty good. Those plastic looking cars in the pics look way better when in motion.

Dammit.... Have you pehaps heard of a video game publishing Company called Electronic Arts, or EA? They happen to publish a franchise called Need For Speed, and for licensing purposes, they have bought out the rights to the given automotive corporations a long time ago. Fearing, correctly, that Lamborghini, Porsche, and Ferrari will make a selling point for Sony's Gran Turismo and will therefore steal sales from their Need For Speed franchise, EA has refused to share licenses to these automakers. That may explain why these automakers (except Porsche which came into a rear door as RUF) have not been in GT1, GT2, GT3, GT Concept, or GT Prologue? Is this all.... clear enough for you?

license expires 2005...

ESPN is actually suing EA for buying the NFL license.

You know what. EA better go back to racing supercars. I don't care if they keep the Skyline (which actually would have been nice in HP2), and some others.
Anyone remember the 1st NFS? They had a good selection of Japanese cars. Those and others need to come back.

EA, please, please change your NFS series back to the way it was. The way that made it famous!
Vin Diesel must have warped EA's mind, and now EA is a slave.

Guess, that d*mn F&F that was supposed to come out months ago is coming out in March.

From what I can see, no EA has the licence for Lambo , Porsche and Ferrari no more.

It is lately priviledge of Microsoft, paid with millions of bigones, I suppose.

Still, some surprises maybe awits us, the first ever GT4 review (issued in last Dengeki, see the specific thread) could give us some answers very soon.

On the topic of Ferrari and Porsche et al, it is unfortunate that they don't appear in the Gran Turismo series, but I personally feel that these name brands do not make or break a game. There are other makers of supercars that PD can go to. I'm sure very few (at least in North America) knew of TVR before GT1, now it's a common name. GT2 had Venturi and Vector and GT3 introduced Pagani. I'm looking forward to racing Bristol cars (hopefully they're in) and the Cizeta V16T. Just because they don't have the history of the better known names doesn't mean that their cars are less amazing.

The sad part is that to some people do judge a racing game soley by the cars in it. I did it once before. I bought NFS IV just cause it had the firebird in it. Well, it was horrible.

I said that to say, it's not the cars that make the game, but the game that makes the cars!

i have played the demo for forza and must say its looking good and being a fan of the gt series since the begining i hope it will be as good as gt4 as i feel xbox has never had a game that will stand up to any of the gt games, the demo included the ferrari 360 challenge and a porsche 911 gt3 and some le mans cars nice realistic handling etc

i just hope you can change the controls in the full game because i hate using the triggers for accel and brake

huh? change controls? those are the only ones that you can use as brake/accel realisticly, because they are analog, the other buttons are digital, they would suck goats for a sim.
i got the demo myself, nothing spectacular, seems like beta code to me, the sounds are great, the damage needs a lot of work (too forgiving for a sim). the controls seem fine, but i really can't tell unless i play it with a steering wheel.
it looks ok, but i really don't want to judge the game from that demo, because it seems like beta code and the demo itself isn't close to GT4 in terms of quality.

But it's worth it, I don't have one yet but I have used one, and I'm hoping for a GT4 + DFP special pack comes out when GT4 is released.

code_kev
Tha con, a pad costs 20 quid, the DFP costs 80+ and is designed for racing games only.

You're the one who said you are a "racing enthusiast" and you love racing games...to think that you would think the DFP is a waste, or over priced is a bit odd...because until you've used it, you'll never know.

And front, the pedals are still leaps and bounds better than the trigger. And I've never had a problem with them...of course that's probably because I don't stomp the hell out of my DFP...unless of course you are just saying that out of spite for the fact that xbox has no good wheel...either way though...DFP is great.
