Forza

From what I can see, no EA has the licence for Lambo , Porsche and Ferrari no more.

It is lately priviledge of Microsoft, paid with millions of bigones, I suppose.

Still, some surprises maybe awits us, the first ever GT4 review (issued in last Dengeki, see the specific thread) could give us some answers very soon.

the license for use of these three manufacturers ends at the end of 2004...forza is coming out in 2005, no license violation. microsoft wouldn't be throwing away money like that, even if they're rich. no businessman...no sane businessman would do that.

forza hitting in 05 means nothing seeing how forza was at e3 and other events this past year with porcshe and ferrari included. We'll find out whether ferrari and porsche are in or not in a matter of days.

C'mon guys think Forza. Here are two example screenshots to compare:
GT4:

Forza:

As you can see the surroundings are very different in the two games. Forza tends to use very bright pastels to create a 'pretty' racing environment, with few shadows. GT4 act directors have chosen a darker, more photo realistic color scheme. Note the asphault shine on Forza's track..... a very powerful sun reflection? The environmental detains are in different leagues, and I guess it's a matter of preference. :D

I like how you found a crap quality forza screenie, and compare it to a brilliant quality gt4 shot. Fair. That car in forza does NOT look that crap in game. Must be said though, forzas art direction can't touch Gts.

Btw why did you quote me?

I think that the shots are of relative quality. Sorry about the quote? :dunce:

Another screenie comparo...analyzing car models structure.

As is obvious, the RX-8 modeled in Forza looks a heck of a lot smoother than the Supra, albeit in a slightly toughed up pic (background...). Noice how the Supra has shadows around the joint connecting the front bumper? The model is clearly not meant for body damage :) The Mazda screenie looks very nice, I must admit. I love the asphalt texture, and the car is sharp.

Nice, comparing a doctored shot to a old meh capture of gt4, that's fair.
How about a pic from a more up to date build of gt4, like this
gt4.jpg

or
racingcar1.jpg

As you see, gt4's models look better due to better color usage.

Ohhh.. If only the PS2 could handle Bump Mapping/Pixel Shaders.. :(

That's the best part of Forza ; the road texture. And the PS2 can't do that. :)

e) No, not flaming. No, i don't hate Forza.. no... etc..

How about somebody post two pics of the same car? Making it different cars just seems stupid.

It also seems people who are making the choices are biased.

code_kev, have you seen the 6 new trailers of Forza? The one with the Carrera GT in black is awesome. And guess what. They got another detail GT3 didn't have. Spoilers coming up like they should. If PGR2 can do it, so can PD. The rear lights and that were sheer laziness.

Well, that's good to hear. I really hope PD increase the speed for the Zondas.
Anyone else notice how the Zondas never really even hit 200MPH stock in GT3?

yeah the gear ratios were really really... short.

Wow, those screenies of Forza are Wicked. That NSX looks fabulous and look at those CURBS..

Yep, that'd be cool.. And BTW that RX-8 from Forza doesnt look all that great imHo, but the background and roadtexturing on that same pic looks WOW!

Dayem! Why did my Xbox have to Blow, the same day I got the Forza Demo! (Thnks to "someone" for the help :) ).. But havent really played it yet..

slightly OT though,
I find the graphics of GT4 awesome, specially while watching the replay of the race, but while playing, theres just too much vibration (thing) happening, I dont know what to call it. Antialiasing? Those horizontal lines keep vibrating and take all the show away from graphics (only). I wonder if that happens in Xbox and Forza! ?

Look up the thread and you will see
Two screenshots posted, lovingly.
One of a Toyo GT-One,
The road reflecting shining sun.
The other car is just the same,
Too bad it's from a different game.

I've just spent some tome with the Forza demo. Well this game NEEDS a proper steering wheel very badly! An xbox pad is just disgraceful for Forza splendid physics. And this is why i'd prefer GT with its slightly but noticable worse handling model though with the DFP, to Forza with a gamepad.

hey have you seen the official website. of all the cheek for forza to have a new york course WHICH IS EXACTLY THE DAMN SAME AS THE ONE IN GT4 (not EXACTLY the same because on the back straight after the first corner, instead of turning of onto 57th avenue, it carries on straight up to 5th avenue). and also the have laguna seca, tsukuba AND the Nurburgring!!! hey, is it me, or are games like forza and enthusia just copying gt4?? well in my opinion, that's not right. i mean, ok, so a game can have 1 circuit the same or include a couple of cars which are the same, but to include cars and tracks which are the same in big numbers is UNBELIEVEABLE!!! What's next, both enthusia and forza WILL BOTH GET LE MANS AS WELL???

Probably. BTW theres nothing copy cat or cheeky about featuring a bunch of the same cars, ofcourse that will hapen all 3 of them feature real life cars and it's always the more popular ones that get picked. The same goes fo the real tracks used in games, however I do agree that the use of the New York track using a very similar lsyout to GT4's is a tad too far.

and also the have laguna seca, tsukuba AND the Nurburgring!!! hey, is it me, or are games like forza and enthusia just copying gt4??
Yeah, whats next? They added Lacuna Seca, Nürburgring Nordschleife and Tsukuba and maybe LeMans.
Too bad, these tracks have been already in other Racing Games before GT4. :dunce:
What a shame that they didn't ask PD for permission. :banghead:

well, i suppose they don't need to, since PD doesn't own any licences saying that those tracks must ONLY be in GT4. And besides, they are their own company, so I suppose they can put whatever they want into the game. But is it me or did they see GT4 and think "Oh look, GT4 has this track and these cars. I know!! To get good sales, why don't we copy GT4 and put those tracks and cars in. Then we can beat GT4 in the sales and claim top spot." Well I got news for ya, Konami and Microsoft, IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN, BECAUSE GT4 RULES THE RACNG GAME ROOST, AND WE AIN'T MOVIN!!! GOT IT???:lol:
