Forza

Rabbi Doom in interviews with the game makers THEY said that they didn't want it thought of as a GT killer. Looks like its back to you :P. Think said interviews are on gamespot or IGN, I forget which, and I cba looking as I'm eating. I don't know what every MS employee in the planet said, if one said that, I'm eternally sorry blah blah blah :P

When people refer to it as GT killer or whatever, what crap are they talking about.. The GT series has sold over 30 million copies world wide, how the hell is Forza gonna kill that? They can't, simple as that!! :scared:

When you say a game kills another, you don't usually mean sales. For example, ICO kills tomb raider [insert random number]. Tomb Raider sold WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY more, but it's crapper. Not saying Gt is crap, but you get the idea.

True, true, but you can't tell me that Micro$oft and PD wont be eagerly watching each others sales hoping to hell that M$ beats PD in sales with Forza and PD doing the same with GT4?

Forza = new venture, lots of potential. I don't personally like it, but I haven't played the full game yet. I'll give it another shot at release.

GT = a tradition, and a cult. Unrivaled performance. But all good things end in time. Who knows.

Take it or leave it, I think Forza will do well.

It will be a very long time before Forza and it's sequels ever catch up GT's sales, however referring to Forza as a GT killer does not mean it will outsell GT from the start, it just means it will sell very well and be a better game than GT, which I doubt it will be, it will sell well to X-Box owners, but theres too few of them to bring sales up to GT4's levels.

Forza is like GT, it's whatever you make of it, your given freedom to do what you want with your car, race what you want how you want and win prize Cr to buy something else you want, yes theres rice-a-like bodykits in there, but theres also some race car type kits too, if you don't like either, don't fit either and stick to road cars or ready built race cars.

And Code, that interview is at IGN, and the developers were saying how much respect they had for Kaz and his crew for what he's done with GT.

The chances are big that Forza like GT1 don't get very noticeable at the start, but one thing is for sure that if the second edition of Forza come's out it will be tough competition.

For the sheer number of cars GT has and the realism it's no competition. I can't tell if forza wants to be a tuner game or a racing game? But, given more installments it can grow into a solid racer like GT. I'll check it out. I like my xbox.

Competition is always good. Keeps developers on their toes. :D I believe it's Acclaim whos working on their own Sim aswell. I think it was Acclaim.

Ubiquitous
Acclaim doesn't exist anymore.. it's Konami that is making Enthusia.
Thats what I thought. I knew it couldnt be Acclaim... oh well. Thats what posting at work does to you:(

hasbeen acclaim is working on 'Juiced', go look it up if nobody knows what it is. sposed to be a cross between arcade/nfsu and gtish physics. now THQ is working on it.

I played the game and it blew, as did alll other challengers to Gran Turismo.

Gran Turismo is still the undisputed king. Nothing will ever touch it. Period.

The game was finished long before Acclaim went bankrupt. All THQ did was purchase the rights and publish it. Thats all that was needed. I managed to get a copy on the Xbox and I didnt like it one bit. I felt like throwing up when I saw the intro.

Juiced is finished. And, what copy of Juiced do you have? The demo?

Juiced won't be released to till the summer of this year b/c they are afraid of GT4 and NFSU2 stealing the sales.

I personnaly played the demo for a long amout of time the other day and just when I started my first race, I switched the assist to off. As this is the way I play racing sims. I was impressed by the quality of the suspensions effect but the driving felt to rough from what I expected. I mean it's not like I haven't driven the LSR circuit a thousand times ( not only in GT3) but the sterring had something strange.

For the graphics, I think they are mostly good but not as photorealistic as GT4. Meabe because of the damage engine. The damage didn't impress me at all. I mean, I really had to force myself to break the car for it to break a bit. As for the overall experience, I'm a bit downed by it. I mean I am highly anticipating the game and wish it to do great. Okay this was mostly negative sides but it as a lot of good! I don't care about the system or anything. I care about the games. And if Forza can bring competition to GT4, well that's great because it will bring the quality of future racing game even further. I know by the time it comes out it will be better than what I played and we can all experience an exellent game.

I never said it was the game developers who said that, i said Microsoft said it. And there are plenty of examples of big wigs of microsoft touting there mouths about stuff they have no idea what they are talking about. That is one of microsofts biggest problems, there propaganda. That is one reason they are so succesfull in some areas and so crappy in others.

Remember sega gt, I remember in an interview, one of microsofts big wigs called that there GT killer. That game sold on karisma alone, if everybody who was a fan of the gt series would have rented it first rather than blindly following microsoft like the sheep they are, i am guessing that game would have sold less that half the copies that it did.

The Microsoft big wigs are trying to ride on the coat tails of the GT series and i can see why the game devolopers are saying "no", I would. I have never personally read one of these interviews but i will belive you code_key simply on a matter of judgement. Honestly there is nothing worse than something that is over-hyped. And if it's one company that does it the best, i would have to say it's microsoft.

I honesty wan't to see forza met with great success but to me it looks like the game is going to crash and burn, simply because some microsoft big wig had to go and call it the GT killer.

Its not just them, the offical xbox magazine called it that aswell. I seem to recall they refered to True Crime Streets OF LA as the Grand Theft Auto killer. The only reason they they simthing like that is becouse its not on their own console

Look Rabbi_doom, if a magazine of official says their game is going to a xx-Killer, that will not cause the game to crash and burn as you put it. It's previews, reviews, demo's and word of mouth that count most.

As I've said before...

Forza may well turn out to be good, but it's never going to be bought by 90% of the people on this forum as they don't have Xboxes. Forza will never justify buying an Xbox to play it, not when you have a PS2 with GT4 and a DFP... in this respect Forza can never touch GT4.

It can certainly be the best alternative for the Xbox crowd but unless it is supremely perfect in every way and gets a wheel as good as the DFP it will never touch GT4.

No, as a person with a PS2 and the intention of buying a DFP when I get GT4 Forza alone does not justify me buying an X-Box to play Forza, but then if I had an X-Box GT4 and the DFP wouldn't be enough to justify spending £100 on a PS2 and the £40 on the game and a further £100 on the DFP. Forza does not need to be supremely perfect either, GT4 isn't, far from it it has ton's of mistakes, small and big. There are large ommisions too, and while I sat in the GT4 camp before on the umber of cars after seeing the final car list theres far too many of them with under 60bhp which will be agony to drive, Forza just leaves them out. GT4 will be the better game overall (for single player anyway) but come April I will be getting an X-Box, and Forza and get it on live, but not just for Forza.

Indeed, I were thinking of getting an Xbox when Flatout and Halo 2 was released. But when it all comes to point it's nothing more than a large, black AND green piece of marketing plastic. The 2500 sek, about $300, is an enormous investment for me, since I unlike some other kids (right Zsolt = :)) have to help and work for my parents to get my money.

Forza riding on the coat tail of GT? Thats like saying Halo deserves no credit becuase its riding on the coat tail of the Doom series. Forza was built to better the GT sim genre and if it is pushing further than the GT games then credit should be given for that fact alone. It will always be up for debate on weither either is an overall better game. I feel sorry for all the close minded GT elitest who are too scared to believe that anything to do something better than the GT games. You all will be missing out.

I'm guessing your still at school? It's not as big a deal when your working to spend £140 on a console and game but it's still a lot of money, but I'm interested in Halo 2 and theres a few other games coming out the X-Box that look like they might be good too.

Is sek swedish kronor ?
If it is, the standard price for XBOX is about 1500 sek.
