Me neither but after reading this I popped it in to give it a go and I was quickly reminded why I can't stand the PS3........................Update....Update......Update......Install....Install.....and after about 45 minutes I finally get to play.

 I forgot about that..

I think it is Forcone-FIN. Yeah we should have a few GT races too since I now have the G25 mounted on my "rig"...! I really love the feel of this wheel. I remembered it was far far worse. The FFB is super responsive and powerful! Superb for drifting! Also driving around my most hated track London in my BMW 1-series diesel on slicks was hard on my wrists, you really feel the grip!

You prefer using the G25 over the CSR for GT5?

I actually do! (I have GT2 to be exact. Almost the same thing though?)

Might be the settings on the GT2 as I pointed out, though. Have to try and tweak them someday... Had so much fun today drifting with the G25, it is so so so much easier to spin round quickly than the heavy-Fanatec. I honestly love the Fanatec in circuit racing but do not like it as much as a drifting wheel.

Good thing I didn't sell the good ol' Logitech! Now I have use for both of them again :)

I don't know if it's the same as the GT2, I'm the wheel noob xD I have to wait exactly one week, then I can order my wheel (finally!!).

I remember my old Logitech somethingwheel (it was blue), when I drifted (in GT4), the wheel was perfect for drifting. I changed the (no idea what it's called) "insert correct word here" 24v for the 12v, so it was easier to drift.. But how is the Fanatec different?

Is the blue one Driving Force or something like that? I think the main difference in drifting is that the lighter rim of the G25 makes the wheel a bit faster and more responsive, and the FFB is somehow more... Hmm... Sturdier :D I don't know how to describe it. Fanatec is very accurate and smooth but G25 is a bit more of a "brute". Powerful and "twist-your-wrist"-sort of wheel (some people may argue - read Thrustmaster and CSR Elite owners, haven't tried either of those myself). Also the leather rim on the G25 is better for drifting IMO. On the other hand I love the Alcantara on the GT2 for circuit racing. :)

Have you played about with the drift setting?.

Yeah I've tried to, but even at 5, it's still a lot slower and heavier to spin quickly than the Logitech. That's why I'm completely incapable of drifting with 900 SEN on the Fanatec, whereas 900deg on G25 just seems so right 👍

Yes its not the best drift wheel, the CSR elite is supposed to be good for drifting

If I had the cash, I'd probably buy that, but currently have so many different things to throw my money at that a new wheel is quite low on my list...! IMO the Thrustmaster T500RS looks most interesting to me, but since it's not Xbox-compatible, it's no use to me. And it's probably not THAT much better than my current wheels... :P

But maybe if my house buying project succeeds, I finally have the room for a proper rig, then I'll be spending a lot on this stuff again! :P I've already established with my girlfriend, that there will be a dedicated gaming room! The house has to be big enough for that!

there is a rumour of a 360 compatible thrustmaster wheel coming out, there is a teaser trailler with a garage number 360 on it so maybe a thrustmaster high end wheel for 360

Thanks for the info on the wheels 👍 Hope the CSR will be good enough for drifting. And yes I think you're correct on the blue wheel, it was the Driving Force. I bought it around 10 years ago, I think..? Haven't played with a wheel since 2006, so I'm quite hyped now :D

I think it will be good enough for drifting, though the non-round rim might make it a bit "interesting" if you go for more than 540 deg rotation... :P For circuit racing, it will surely be just as great as the GT2! Did you also get the shifter set for it? The Porsche shifter is not great, but not crap either. I think they now sell the new "improved" version, which has a metal knob and a different casing (correct me if I'm wrong). The mechanics are pretty much the same I think?

I only shift with the H-shifter, whatever the car. I can't be bothered to change it to sequential every time I'd need it :D And my current rig doesn't allow both of them to be connected at the same time properly. I think Chris does the same? Not very practical on R1 cars etc. but a very good skill to learn. Especially in Forza, since it has a proper "clutch simulation". I tend to brake with the engine pretty often, making the car oversteer just slightly in to the corner using clutch and the gears. I suggest learning that once you feel comfortable with the wheel itself. :) Also, If you want to learn to use 900 deg rotation, I'd start straight away with it. It was easier for me that way at least. Now I always use 540deg in Forza and immediately start sucking once I dial up 900deg of rotation. I used to do everything with 900deg when I joined FPM, but have now come to the conclusion that 540 is better for racing, for me. :)

Whoa, got a bit carried away with this message. Well, I guess it doesn't matter... Feel free to ask anything about the wheel, I try to help as well as I can! 👍

Oh yeah the wheel isn't round! Didn't think of that  I'll try all the settings on the wheel to see what I like most. I think like you, 540 degrees is enough. I also got the CSR shifter set for it, it comes with the pack. Looks like the updated one..

I think I'm not going to use the H-shifter all the time. Probably going with the sequential shifter in R-cars and H-shifter in the lower classes. No idea if my rig allows both shifters on, I know I got a shifter holder, but didn't built my rig yet :embarrassed: Maybe something I can work on today! The wheel also has paddle shifters, I guess I'll use that for F1 2011 (and soon 2012 :D).

I like your clutch technique. I didn't knew you could use it so pro, I thought it was more a fo sho' thang.. Very nice. Do I also have to use the clutch when pulling away at the start, like in real life? And what happens when you shift without using clutch?

Thanks for the big post! Go get carried away a bit more so you tell me all your secret techniques :sly:

Just played Forza but didn't remember to pay close attention... :D Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the car stalls if you dump the clutch too quickly or with too little gas. And when you shift without the clutch, you get transmission damage if you have damage on. And the next gear engages quite slowly, sort of stays in neutral for a while before engaging. Isn't it like that...? I don't remember

Im using a CSR Wheel and paddle shifters only. When I take off from a dead start you dont have to use the clutch (I dont think I do)..Just gas it and upshift quickly for me since I have no assists. Also Forcone is right..If you try to shift WITHOUT engaging the clutch it will kinda hang there for a minute, engine reving, gears grinding before it goes to the next gear...Come to think about it Ive never tried to DOWNSHIFT without the clutch..Hmm..

Patrick, what is this "clutch and heel toe" you speak of....???

Yeah I have been trying to master the Heel/Toe technique for a few months.........let's just say I have a long way to go LOL. It definitely takes some getting used to but to me it is rather troublesome unless I keep with the same car for a while. FPM Season 3 will surely improve my technique since we are keeping with the same car.

Does this work?

Are you guys driving with shoes on? And if so, normal ones or...?

Yeah I use shoes, water shoes. I can do it but it hasn't become engrained in my muscle memory yet. Nice find BTW Carlos.

I race in my socks....and no heel-toe for me. Too much work for this lazy bum. :D
I tried racing in socks/barefoot and just can't get used to it. Something feels wrong when I try it. But then again I race those R Class cars, takes above average concentration, superb eye hand coordination and God-like skills............unlike B class!:D

Ooohhhh! Hey Jimbo, don't feel bad when you get lapped by those B class cars...in your R2 car. :embarrassed:

Just kidding Jimbo! ;) Trash talk doesn't suit me well....last time I talked trash I got the full-lock glitch on the last lap of the Sunset race! :scared:
