Well a few race shots from me.. it was close at times, and whilst there were a few incidents, I felt everyone did make an effort to keep it clean.. the M3 is a twitchy car at best, I had a much faster setup which I was testing, but it was very loose and slippy, with no traffic on the track it was a blast.. but racing's not like that!
In the end I went with a slower tighter setup as i felt there would me more overtake opportunities out of the slow corners. In addition any bumps with the loose setup and I'd have been knocked into next week
Here are a couple of my personal thoughts from the weekend's race:
- racing's not hot lapping! - you have to avoid the other cars.. so your car setup and corner entry speed needs to allow you to opt for a better/different line some times.
- when you get it wrong your better taking yourself off the track than someone else! (sorry forcone - thanks to the others behind for helping me get off track )
- Is the passing maneuver on? depends on what your exit line might be.. Is it right to go head to head for the apex.. then run the opponent off the track by closing the gap on the way out of the corner?
let me know what you think?
Now the pics..
Good example of close but no touch! outside car got a bit loose on the way in, I was tight to the inside line (slower) if I'd gone for the overtake we'd have collided on the way out of the corner.. he knew I was in the inside and left me enough room so I wasn't squeezed onto the grass..👍
A few laps later, I exited the turn to see all of this unfolding before me...in this case the old adage of "aim for where they are, cause they wont be there when you get there!" turned out to be true..
It looked like Chris got a bit loose on the way out of the previous corner, he got it under control then the car just went right into the barrier spinning into the path of the other.. they danced with the barriers for a while... if that's the glitch it's a nightmare!
Did I mention the racing was close at times.. here we go flat out into 130R
I went from last to third during this race.. this was one of only two overtakes..!!
So how did I make up so many places..
mostly other folks mistakes.. too fast into a corner meant a wide exit and a spin or loss of traction on exit, not that I'm complaining
Thanks for racing, and see you all on the track
P.S. If any club member wants the car paint, drop me a message with your race number and I'll stick it up on the storefront foc.
