we did end up running another room last friday a bit later in the evening, which was a lot of fun. A good chance to get used to the car/track combo for this coming week. Though, I think I was still around 2-3 sec off pace :(

I will try to be there around 9pm this week.

I used to say I wasn't a big fan of modern open wheelers and I think that's still true of modern F1 cars. This car is different. You can really feel the edge of grip and with the new v6 tires and only medium softs, it really comes alive. One of the best cars in the game really. So I thought I'd try v2 tonight for the first time and started tuning and the next thing you know two hours had gone by. I came up with what I think is a decent tune although I wasn't paying much attention to tire temperatures and only running 5-6 lap stints. I was able to get down to the 1:19.6 range, but I have a couple of tenths left in me yet I think.

Words of advice. I exited Druids (first hairpin) in third gear. You can use second gear but if you shift at the wrong time or without using a bit of throttle the back end comes around pretty quickly and I don't think you really gain any time anyway because you are only in second for a couple of seconds. For the same reason I used 4th gear in Surtees (second left hander), 6th in Hawthorne, 5th in Westfield and Dingleberries and 4th in Stirling and 5th in Clarke. The car has a massive amount of grip for braking and turning and if you're using a wheel you can really hear and feel the lockup. The brakes could probably be a little more aggressive to the back and there is a couple of notches left on the front aero but I felt it imbalanced the car. The real aliens, however, might find the extra rotation and front end grip it provides quite useful. Finally, since the car has no ABS I turned the brake gamma up to 2.00 and it seemed to give me a good amount of travel with my GTEYE modded brake pedals.

Absolutely agree, V2.0 with the med tires is truly a thing of Beaty. When you get the car set up just right it is truly special. And responds extremely well to tuning.

If I'm home I'll join you guys for the race

That is my biggest problem - not downshifting one too many times while mid-corner.

BTW, I was able to get a 1:21.7xx last night, but maybe a little more in me still... I loved the feel of the combo so much I probably ran laps by myself from midnight until around 3:00 am. And yes I did have to work today :D

Reminder we start at 9:00 EST tonight. I'm guessing we'll run until at least midnight or so.

I'll probably be there but will likely only hang around for an hour or so. Been up since 5am so at some point the Sandman will arrive and knock me upside the head with an air gun.

Thanks for hosting @Wiz . Don't know what happened that first race. You spun, I got by you, onto the front street and I completely froze up, lost team speak too. Had to reboot everything and start over before I could get back. Then my mic didn't work and I was talking to myself for a while. :sly: Hopefully it's a one time thing. Everything was nice and smooth in the room and I had a solid 120+ frames going.

These AC events look awesome! Gonna miss this weekend, although I practiced the 2 cars on Brands w/ the Penso tunes. 👍 Escort is easily my fav car in the game. :(

The RSR Dallara F312 was sweet with high DF. Good luck, guys.

thanks for organizing this. it was fun. Good to see a few more cars on the track! will take brindle's driving tips and try to get down to the 1:20's with this combo still, maybe even that ellusive '19, but that may be dreaming (for me).

Relaxed club racing this week. Updated OP.

Edit: Going to try to start a little earlier this week. I put 8:30 in the OP but I'm going to try to be on by 8

I'll be on closer to 9 EST. Hopefully you'll still be rockin'

Good fun, guys. Thanks for teaching me the ropes. :D

EDIT: @Wiz in the 59's. :scared: 👍

The Nords run afterward was FUN!

Thanks to all for the fun night, especially Wiz for setting it up!

I had some good close racing with FatKrakr and Gravitron for sure!

My vote is for weekly, but I understand if it can't be done every week...

OP Updated.

I must admit that this combo is untested. I didn't have anytime to test anything this week but I wanted to get something posted.

I've heard very good things about this version of the track and we've had some good racing in this car before, so it should be a pretty good combo.

Not sure if I'll be making it tomorrow, @tezgm99 is in for the weekend.

I've not driven the GTE much, but if it's anything like the GTC, it'll be fun.

Montreal is a good track, not quite as complete (ambiance wise) as the modder wanted, but the main features are there and the track surface is as good as they get.

But but....live and distracting commentary! :sly:

Oh shoot, I just realized I wrote GTE when I meant GTC. GTC is the one in the picture in the OP. I need to get my act together, sorry.

I'd like to stick with the one in the picture (GTC). I hope nobody practiced too much with the GTE.

Haven't touched either! Somehow I don't think it would have made much difference even if I had been practicing with the wrong car. :dunce:
