Technically though transmission refers to the whole driveline, so triple plate clutches, carbon driveshafts and mechanical LSDs could come under "tuning the transmission."

Drivetrain is just another word for transmission. The terms generally used are drivetrain (which is the transmission- anything that transmits the engine's power to the wheels) and the powertrain, which is the drivetrain plus the engine.

In America they tend to call the gearbox 'the transmission' though.

Mazda is an odd one, 47.7s (just and it took a lot of gearing/BB changes) again at Brands, not my cuppa that's for sure.

The Mazda has great traction but you need to go really deep into the corners to take advantage of it.
