Volvo is a merc w05 in toca trim.
I'd liken it to these:

The monza gap is the largest we have seen so far .
And will be the largest. This track was always going to favour the Volvo which I saw when I tested there pre season. The car has good top speed, is good over the kerbs and handles reasonably good, but the gap to the next cars did surprise me though. I improved by about 0.8 - 1 second compared to preseason on this track alone with the new settings I put on about 2 weeks before the first round.

It might be the largest gap all season, but still. Say it's 1s on Monza - then for the cars to be balanced, the Volvo would need to be 1s slower at some other track for all to be balanced (or at least slower than others by some degree on half the tracks), not just equal on a track or two and far ahead on the others. Sounds to me that the BoP was being done without those gains taken into account that were apparently to be achieved with a good setup on the Volvo. I didn't see that either in testing (probably because I didn't have a setup for the Volvo at all). But I guess, now we know better.

I know it might seem for moot but I didn't see the Volvo being much faster. I only really tested the FFs though. The Rwds I still feel I couldn't give a good enough lap to represent them.

But for me at Brands the best was Mazda on a 47.1 I think. Nin with his extra pace and setup is just amazing to me.

MONZA STEWARDING:

Race #1:
@AudiMan2011 1 Strike for incident with @gtpanoz - time penalty would be ineffective.

@xZAMGMarmite 5 Second penalty for repeated abuse of track limits. Placing changes from P11 to P12 swapping with Panoz.

@LancerEvo7 warning for usage of track limits.

Race #3:
@hsv 1 Strike for the incident. I haven't viewed it myself but saw the outcome and have seen pictures and accounts. It was a mistake, zero malice, but deserves a book being thrown at you. On the plus side, nice contribution to the 2014 FRL Best Of Crash highlight reel 👍

Current "Strikes" - 3=5 Point penalty.

1 Strike:
@PatrisS136
@DK
@hsv

2 Strikes:
@nascarfan1400
@AudiMan2011

Race 3 would have been a good chance to be on the podium again, but in the first chicane Marmite hit the wall, so I try to stay clear to the left, but found no grip there and had to mow the lawn. Lost 7 positions. Then I encounter DK in the middle of Ascari going slow, so instead of accelerating full throttle out of there, I have to brake and get eaten alive on the run-up to Parabolica (-3 positions). Of course, shortly after that the Parabolica-incident happened. (-7 positions)
I.E. #Parabolicagate

Red Bull BullRing next....
Fixed. ;)

I'll be perfectly honest about this. The Volvo does needs to lose some power to bring into line with the other cars (for me & Andil anyway). We shouldn't be locking out front rows this easily, especially if we're over a second faster than the next car. I know Monza was always going to suit our car, but the gap to the next cars is just too large in my opinion. It should never be 1.4 seconds or something like that.

Later EDIT: At the end of the day we want a fight, a fight to win. But with a car like this the races become extremely straight forward and all you're monitoring is your teammate. Before qualifying you already know you have an easy 1-2 sown up in quali as well as Race 1 barring any unforeseen circumstances and that shouldn't really happen. Whilst it may feel good for a while having by far the best car in field, it actually begins to take away the fun in ToCA. I for one actually think T10 was my best season, because I had to wrestle a car which was struggling to finish in the top 6 up there. Of course with the specs being slightly off the mark other drivers may be put off by this and may even leave this series... You guys know what happened over at ITCC which ended up with Mel being banned, and now ITCC is pretty much dead as a result of this.

Guys, I'm leaving ToCA for now. The races for me are on the afternoon and I have been busy a lot on Saturdays for the last few months and it doesn't seem that will change soon enough. I'm always doing something on Saturdays, it being Uni work, playing football or just hanging out with my friends, and all times we start on the afternoon and finish on the evening, so my social life has me quitting for now ToCA. I was sure I would be free to race this season, but it didn't just happen.

It's a quick goodbye, I might return for one round or even two in the next season, for now there's nothing I can do.

I agree the gap has been more than expected and cannot be attributed all to set up and driver ability. 0.5 I can understand, heck 0.7 on a banzai special, but 1.4?!
