Well, that was pretty easily my best endurance race ever. 2 hours and not a single spin, gravel trap visit, or mechanical damage. And I guess I could say I reached the kind of finish I was aiming for at best.

That was :ouch: finish. Unlucky.

Lucked up 2nd today.

Took advantage of the other Prototype drivers misfortunes and saved twice by TITANIUM FORD.

You may take half my points away as per rules, but not my satisfaction of getting a podium in my first run with the car. Although, I feel bad for the fact that my stupid little nudge on lap 1 might've been enough to ruin @FlyingFox's race right there...

I was bloody angry during the race but I have calmed down now. Apart from that off and having a bit off an off due to damage incurred during that nudge I too had a clean race.

Had a couple of battles with HSV which was fun. Third was a gift but I'll take it.

So what was it like running with the Alpines on the opening lap or two?

Thanks Jocke 👍
Good job, jammy. :)

My start of the race was little mess. I was under the table fixing my pedals when I heard race countdown started. I just got on pedals when race started but was putting little too much RPM's and my rear wheels were spinning badly. Lost my pole there but got it back when Lancer make little mistake. After that race was like I was planned my strategy.
Good racing by GT-O's - easy lapping and no issues there.

Didn't go to plan. In being so focused on gearing for Mulsanne I managed to mess 2nd and 3rd gear up so I'd lose 5 car lengths. Still put the car P3 behind @LancerEvo7 @jammy21 . At the start I was surprised and distracted by Jammys slow getaway and backed off, allowing Lancer a run. Then I got swallowed up by everyone.

Handling wise car was alright. Brake issues were solved as I got used to driving a low-DF car again in Qualifying, and tyre wear was fine. There is room for improvement. Phone call on Mulsanne meant I had a hefty crash and lost a couple minutes, and just toured around for final half of the race to reel off the laps.

Not a great debut, but long way to go yet. Congrats on @smuffyatfcp for prevailing in a tight GT-O scrap and also nice job @DK to keep running despite your early issues 👍 Good to see @hsv and @FlyingFox finish as well after they had early issues.

What I'm wondering is if there were instances of the Alpines keeping up with the other cars on the Mulsanne Straight during the course of today's race.

On a different subject, what are your thoughts on the possibility of a new Logitech steering controller as posted in the news section? That would be great if that was the case. :)

It took a while for it to get there but it was actually the one being kept up with!

It changed my mind on getting a PS4 (originally didn't plan on getting one).

I actually no big hopes for this race going in, considering the lap times that had been posted here and seeing Smuffy in the same car turning laps that were a couple of seconds faster. I therefore just put in a couple of laps in qualifying and ended up towards the back of the field for the grid with a 4:08.7. I was optimistic though that I could run those sort of laps on a regular basis in the race.

The Cobra's torque made it possible to move up a little at the start and I had a good fight with @raceorama123432 for the first couple of laps. We tried staying with @Carbonox , but he was a little faster and seemed to be mixing it up with @smuffyatfcp out front. O'rama seemed to be having some trouble with stability under braking and I think that's what enabled me to pull away a little. I then settled into a rhythm where I wasn't risking too much, and tried to go for consistency, which worked rather nicely.

After about 40 minutes, Carb pitted, obviously on a 2-stopper, and fell back behind me & O'rama. My tyres were still on 9 then and fuel-wise it was not a problem to go past the hour-mark, so I stayed out, as did Smuffy. The lap times didn't drop at all, even at the end of my stint. After our stops, Carb was in the lead again, but then he had to come in for his second stop and came out just ahead of me. I managed to catch his slipstream and to scrape by on the Hunaudieres, and for the rest of the race, I always saw a yellow spot in my back mirror waiting for me to make a mistake. Smuffy was ahead by about 15-20 seconds from what I gathered. Carb d/c'd just about as we started our last lap, which finally gave me some room to breathe, but really unlucky for him. Didn't put a foot wrong in the race, so this was about the best I could achieve on the night.

I had to do some extreme fuel-saving in the final 3 or 4 laps when I realised I'd have to do a 29th lap.

Best I could get was a 10.7. The car feels great, I was definitely near the limits of it.
