Fuel

So is it in and how is it implemented? Do u get to adjust it or does it fill by itself and does it run out based on how hard you are pushing the engine or runs out based on distance?
I would also like to know if the game determines fuel consumption based on how hard you drive the car, or if it just consumers a certain percentage no matter how you're driving.
I would also like to know if it matters on the engine itself, for example, a 1.6L Honda would consume less than a 7.0L V8 found in the C5R.

Well i just finished racing with my little sister. she was driving a Nissan 350z and i was driving the Dodge Ram Hemi at laguna seca. I think it was on lap 2 or 3 where my first bar of fuel went off. On the other hand it took my sister nearly two MORE laps to lose one bar of fuel. thats the only test i ran. but ill try again later with cars which have larger displacement differences. 👍

Wow cool. Try and see if it depends on laps or... and by they way did your sister beat u.hee

Would be utterly awesome if fuel consumption depends on displacement.

WAIT! I think it is! The Prius has it! So why not the non-hybrids?

A bit of topic but....does anyone know if you can save in Endurances in PAL? I know it can't on the Asian version but is there anything to know about that for PAL?

Why not the option to turn fuel on/off? For example some people would argue it is a realistic addition - some argue against it. However there would have to be incentive to actually turn it on, say for example the car would be lighter if you used less fuel, as you could match the amount of fuel with how much you change tires. If you had fuel turned off though, It would weigh the same as it would as the car would do on a full tank. That way there is best of both worlds.

Ooh and by the way im new here :)

im with you on this one sleek stratos. ive long thought too that fuel should play a part in gran turismo. it wouldnt overly complicate anything, and it would add another level of strategy to the game. gran turismo 5 (if they call it that) will definately debut on the playstation 3, and with all that extra processing power, sony should try and simulate more of the actual workings of a car. fuel consumption is a great idea, and should be included, because apart from the car itself, it is one of the most important factors in actually moving the vehicle. ive often wondered if sony have toyed with the idea of a fully simulated fuel management system, or even better a fully simulated engine with wear and tear affecting overall performance. it would be a fantastic of you could 'krypton tune' your car virtually dont you think? to appease the casual gamers, there could always be a switch on the options menu to turn it on or off, just like manual or automatic transmission. personally if it was included, i would be willing to use the option - the more simulation the better in my eyes. one last thing, dont you think that it would be great to have some diesels in the game?

Diesels...as in something like a VW Bug Turbo Diesel?! Hmm...I suppose you'd have a slow start on the snow tracks... :odd:
But that would be a cool addition! 👍

Has anyone noticed whether topping off the fuel during pitstops or just leaving it like it is actually does anything positive like reduce weight?

Or is fuel consumption in GT4 just a matter of adding a few more seconds to a pit stop?

Either am I blind, or has no-one actually said what happens when the fuel runs out in enduros etc...? (Or maybe people daren't risk it  )

Yeahs so anybody found out yet? :indiff:

Well this could get interesting with fuel in the game..may make it more of a strategy deal on the Endurance races! What I'm concerned about if the computer is going to have unlimited fuel :yuck: also and time to fill the car up especially if its a heavily powered car :scared: hmmmm....any thoughts guys? :dopey:

hopefully its race over. that would be the most realistic. you should be paying attention the the fuel level. if you dont and you run out its youre own fault.

diesels would be cool. i think there were even some old school diesel grnd prix cars back in the day, they would be sweet. also the duramax, cummins and powerstroke trucks. gotta get that sould right though.

I am a hard core Racing fan. The more realistic the game is, The more I enjoy it. I personally like to have Fuel, and Tire wear in all my games if possible. But there are a lot of people who dont want to be botherd with it, And thats cool also.
I try and collect all the Driving/Racing games I can because of my love for Cars, and Racing. My Son also enjoys playing these games. But he is still very young and just wants to drive and have fun. So I think it would be nice if, They would just put the option in to turn the Fuel, and Tire management ON, or OFF. Not just in the GT games, But all Driving/Racing games. That way, Everyone would be happy, and enjoy it.

If fuel/tire wear could be turned off in the GT series, it would be a 'start-of-the-game' option, and it couldn't be changed. If you were to choose to turn them off, you can't get 100% in the game. Thats a hope for later, though.

If you run out of fuel, your speed is limited but you can still limp back to the pits and get refueled. Just 1 more compromise made to make the game appeal to a more diverse audience.

Yea else you would eb ****ed at 24 hours races b spec, so its just to make the game not impossible, and to hard to manage, else it would be frustarting, anfd in real life, cars (also race keep going at limited speed for a limited time, so its realistic, the driver knows to do that, and the car slows down.

well the pics of the pit stops do show cars getting gas but does it really run out..

be prett cool if i does...........my worst thing with racing is tirse My hard driving wears tires fast...........

There is the one diesel in the game. It would be interesting to run that BMW 120d side by side with the petrol BMW 120i and see whether the diesel was more economical. A longish race at the ring would prove that (I have a code modified from the existing Japanese version codes where I can set for any number of laps... its on my Seb site... see my sig), or anywhere else for that matter). That would be dependent on tyres though.

yes it does run out, and the tyre wear is now pretty releastic, not unlike in gt3 (1 lap test course = tyres gone in gt3)

`diesel is more eco, its less preformo :)

Can you set it to non-infinite fuel in 2P mode?
No, and you only have a fuel bar in Endurance races, also there are only pitsstops in Endurance, i believe, can someone please disagree this(cuz i would like to have pitsstops and fuel always)

Ive got the fuel bar in all of my races. I thought it was unlimited fuel, until I started doing some 5 lappers :)

Fuel bar is in all races except when you run test laps at a course in GT mode and I think it's unlimited tire/fuel for arcade. I could be wrong on the arcade part. As far as pitting, pretty much any 10-lap race will have pitting. The first pits you see out of the AI is normally at the GT Championship in Professional Hall.

Has the AI improved when it comes to pit-stop tactics, cause A LOT of people hate it that in GT3 most of the AI would pit in never EXXXXEEEPPPTTT FOR THE LAST LAP, there they would ALL pit in nicely:dunce::dunce:: there goes another pit-stop tactic:dunce: :dunce: Has this changed??
