Funny/Strange News Stories

America is invading Texas. Even Chuck Norris believes it.
It would be funny, if that is actually what he said.

Martial artist, actor and film producer Chuck Norris this week added weight to online commenters' concerns on US news website WND, where he urged Texans not to believe government reassurances it is simply a military exercise.

"I think there's something a little more involved than what they're telling us," he wrote.

"Whether deterrence, display of power or something more covert or devious, let's not come with any patronising nonsense of impotence and simplicity when its origin is in Washington.

"It's neither over-reactionary nor conspiratorial to call into question or ask for transparency about Jade Helm 15 or any other government activity."
Invasion was never mentioned.

Invasion was never mentioned.

Ted Cruz has mentioned invasion and Chuck Norris has given support to Ted Cruz's taking the Government to task. That's support of the invasion conspiracy by association if not in word, no?

Chuck Norris also said;

I’m glad Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is asking the tough questions of the Pentagon about Jade Helm 15, particularly because its “exercises” come too near to my ranch’s backdoor as well, at least according to the map.

What is Jade Helm 15?
FORT BRAGG, N.C. (USASOC News Service, March 24, 2015) - Members of U.S. Army Special Operations Command will train with other U.S Armed Forces units July 15 through Sept. 15 in a multi-state exercise called Jade Helm 15.

How did all this paranoia started?
The paranoia about Jade Helm, which started on websites like Alex Jones's InfoWars, had started with familiar fulmination about a mass seizure of firearms or a cover-up for American"death squads."

Who is listening to paranoid people?... Chucky "The" Norris

Norris's column JADE HELM 15, CRIME STOPPERS AND KSK

You have a good point... Invasion was never mentioned... But who believes paranoids? Chucky?

I'd need to see Ted Cruz's exact quotes to be able to answer that, but Ted Cruz is his representative in the Senate.

If that map is accurate there are multiple exercises taking place in multiple states. Asking why the military is having such a large exercise is something that should be done. Conspiracy theorists will be there too, as they are anytime government does something big. This is a problem anyone who questions government or other large organizations will face: getting lumped in with the less sane sounding element, and then being discredited because you are on their side of the issue, even if you don't share their paranoia.

Chuck Norris also said;
Ted Cruz is his senator and he said he is glad he is asking questions. That's not close to invasion by association. That is supporting your senator acting in your interest.

EDIT:
Ted Cruz has mentioned invasion

I had to go find it myself. This is the video that seems to pop up in every article I can find that says he bought into the conspiracy theory.

He understands the concerns, his office has heard about it, and he thinks it is because government has created reasons to cause distrust. They have reached out to the Pentagon, were assured it was a training exercise, and have no reason to doubt those assurances.

Yep, he's just another crazy nut claiming this is an invasion. Chuck Norris liking him asking questions about military exercises happening close to his own property is also a crazy nut.

Or, the true funny story here is how the online media has twisted the beliefs of a few paranoid people into a narrative into a tale about a US senator (who happens to be running for president) and a large celebrity (who isn't shy about endorsing Republican candidates) are crazy nut jobs who believe the US military intends to invade a part of the US.

Or a big round of back patting oneself on their own back; they get to question the government, act like they're doing something about those untrustworthy liberals, wrap it back up as a job well-done because of imaginary problems that weren't really there in the first place. Swap out as necessary for the majority/minority party.

Thus:

Bring your car in for repairs at a Democratic repair shop:
Get a huge bill for items you didn't need or should have fixed by yourself.

Bring your car in for repairs at a Republican repair shop:
Get a misdiagnosis due to laziness to look for actual problems.

Oh wait, this is not the America - The Official (whining and crying) Thread.

Yup, that's pretty much it.

It would be funnier if they weren't so influential when it comes to policy. There's a reason why we are the only developed nation in the world that has actively moved to repeal climate change legislation.

That's a joke site, right?

If not, that's like the time someone tried to convince me that using a private school with better performance than the local public schools made me a bad parent.
