Such yayaya.

Still, there'll be a technician job or two going to replace the thirty or so customer-facing roles, so there's that.
Just visit any large grocery store chain to see this at work.

The fast food design is one where the product is handed to you, so the guy standing there watching over 12 registers will not even be as necessary, especially since there will be no items to place in a bagging area.

I imagine fast food would switch over the way groceries do so that you can choose which you like, but eventually you have all but a few hold outs trying the self service lines. I imagine it would catch on even faster in fast food when people are walking out in less than a minute with their food while you are trying to explain to the human what you want specifically, and then have to go back because your "no cheese" got cheese put on it.

To be honest, I would pay more to have an automated fast food experience where an unusual order won't confuse anyone. The only variable will be how optional the automated menu will be. Did you know that you can ask for "no salt" on a burger at McDonald's? Neither do their employees, but it is stated in the FAQ section of their Web site.

You can ask for no seasoning (salt & pepper), or extra seasoning if you will, but there is no function for it on the British McD tills and it will likely confuse the front staff who have never worked in kitchen and never made a burger and don't know what the 'seasoning' is. Most places accidentally on purpose forget to season the burgers anyway.

Very calming.

Exactly. A drain is a drain is a drain.

A true but slightly disgusting story:

When I was at university, all the students in halls got sent letters telling the students to stop masturbating in the showers. It was apparently occurring so often that the after effects of such an activity were causing blockages.

And to remain OT:
