So far, more than £18,000 has been accidentally donated to Unicef, as people texted 'DONATE' instead of 'BEAT' to the donation text number.

Also, some people accidentally enquired about adopting a polar bear via WWF because their smartphones autocorrected the word 'BEAT' to 'BEAR', after which they received a text message saying "Thank you for choosing an adorable polar bear, we will call you today to set up your adoption."

I saw that UNICEF have done the decent thing and arranged for all those donations to be transferred. WWF don't take any money and say they're texting people back with a revised message informing them that they haven't adopted Hulk Hogan.

I heard someone from Cancer Research on R4 saying that No Makeup Selfie isn't actually their idea and they don't know how it started. That makes it an even more peculiar story...

It could be worse - my state has gone through about five Premiers in as many years, mostly because they are associated with or have the misfortune of falling out of favour with one of the most corrupt public figures in the country's history.
