Do you want a gameplay rewind feature in GT?

As I said in the other thread, I would love a rewind feature because nothing is more annoying then having some stupid AI spin you out towards the end of a race. It would be handy just to rewind, change tactics, avoid the collision and go on to take my place. It would make the game far more playable and enjoyable for me because I wouldn't get angry when it all goes bad.

It would also help as a training aid, instead of running countless laps of a track to master one corner, you could just take the corner and keep rewinding so you can figure out which line is the best and how a certain car behaves.

I like how in other games if you use the feature though your times don't count

the more features the better imo. Not bothered that much if it has it or it doesn't because I wont use it, but if it's there then it can do no harm.

So far... 22 in favor, 190 against? Despite voting no, I didn't expect it to be this lopsided...

I dunno last night it was only 5/6% who wanted the rewind feature now its 10% so give it 10 days then see what people prefer :sly:

There is a difference between FM3 and GT5. FM is a arcade racer series. GT5 is the real driving simulator.:)
If GT5 is the real driving simulator dont you think it should at least leave tire marks on the road, all cars should have damage, intelligent AI, and the cars should roll? Oh thats right F3 has all those features so you dont want them. Heck, even F1 and F2 had tire marks and damage along with a much better AI than any of the GT series.

People dont seem to realize you dont have to use the rewind feature. In fact if you do use it you will not have a certified time on the leaderboards even if you have the fastest time...it wont count. You also cant use the rewind feature in the multiplayer. If you dont like it dont use it but the stupid remarks about Forza 3 not being a sim is just rediculous. Forza 3 is much more of a sim than any of the GT games by a longshot. If you dont realize this you are simply ignorant or blind. GT doesnt even leave black marks on the road from the tires. You cant even swap engines at all. Cant paint the cars other than stock colors. No car damage on all cars.. Come on thats your definition of a sim?

I disagree. Forza does not beat GT, but GT does not beat Forza and is certainly not in a league of its own, not even close.

None of the things you mentioned are essentially for a sim, though they may be nice. What's really important is physics, and both games have made decent attempts (though I do like how Forza does not pride itself on graphics, and GT4 was a huge let down).

But on the point of realism, people are making a grave mistake classfying rewind as "arcade". When you're really racing you can't rewind, but the only time you're really racing is online, where you can't rewind. If you're practicing for a race using some kind of sim tool, there is nothing preventing a rewind. And thus, rewind fits perfectly into a sim for training purposes. Whether you want to train or practice is up to the player.

So so funny how all the features that you said Forza has make it sound more like Need for Speed then a serious simulation.

The most important part of a racing simulator are the physics which Forza 3 appears to fail at miserably by having it's cars superglued to the road. Only jumps and pulling the e-brake can break the backend loose.

FYI, GT5 has damage on all cars and rollover. Not that these things are important to a simulator though, as Microsoft's Flight Simulator has never shown damage to its planes and nor has the tires left marks on the tarmac when landing. Does that mean its not a sim now.

Rewind is a trashy feature for trashy games to try and attract casuals. Any serious sim racer wouldn't touch a game with that feature with a 10 foot pole

Ok after reading all the threads on the rewind feature I want it in the game just to piss everyone off.

I think it's about time we show how much we don't want these features by not bumping these threads anymore and just letting them sink to the bottom of hell where any thread with rewind in the title belongs. XD

 at the poll. a resounding no it is and thankfully so

This guy sure is making the rounds. He was banned here and at teamxbox.com forums all in this past month. Poor guy.

IMO, if they have the time and resources available, add rewind. More options is better than less, especially when it's optional.

To put it in perspective, less than 1/8 want this feature, almost nine times as many people are against it.

Just because a million people believe in a bad idea, doesn't mean it's not a bad idea :)

9 times more people don't want it, but by my last count, 100% less people had a logical argument for WHY they felt this way.

And let's not forget, this poll doesn't reflect the issue properly.

There are people who don't want it, people who do want it, and people who don't not want it. The last group is not represented and would be more in line to count as opposition for the no's than anything else.

This poll is clear.

The results are clear.

Your welcome to start a new poll.

It's not logical on your account, which is clearly biased because you're hellbent on convincing everyone that this is beneficial. Plenty of people (yours included) have explained why they don't need this, ad nauseam. Most all of them make sense to me.

You're actually just being pesky and annoying now. Most people here don't want to hear about it any more than they already have, yet you go on and on as if the sky is going to fall if people don't agree with you.

They may make sense, especially if you share similar emotional and irrational views, but that doesn't make them logical.

And I personally think rewind can be useful, but the point I am trying to make isn't that they are useful, but rather that there the arguments that it WILL damage the agme are flawed.

I don't particularly like hearing flawed arguments against it, doesn't stop those same people from continuing to make them.

And I am not the one saying the sky will fall, I just point out where people are flawed, ironically the ones who are saying rewind will ruin the game are the ones who are declaring the sky will fall as if somehow rewind in GT would suddenly turn GT into Sega Rally full of 7 years olds on ritalin or something.

Look, you obviously have failed to see logic no matter how many ways I explain it.

Take another look at the poll. In the end, you haven't convinced anyone after trying every which way, and you're still a minority view. Cut your losses and run with it; until you can come up with a better argument.

Don't know if I'm interested in using it, but I'm in favor of the feature being added. It doesn't affect you if you don't want to use it, so why would you even bother arguing that it shouldn't be in there?

I mean, come on. If you don't want to use the damn thing, then just don't assign it a button. Problem solved, everyone wins.

Like I said, poll was flawed and you can't necessary convince anyway what they feel is wrong if they won't openly examine their own reasoning.

It's why we still have religious cults that believe inane things.

Example of flawed poll... voted no but really means don't care.

Dev, I have addressed this again and again. The poll is clear, do you want the feature or not? if you dont care then dont vote.

Please make a proper poll. All the comments you make dont do anything to make the poll better. Take action because actions speak much louder than words.

No, it's not a flawed poll, you're just not seeing what you want to see. He was asked a yes or no question.

Because if you'd have read the original question that started this, it was the exact same question this poll is asking, yes or no:

Would you like to have a rewind option in GT 5? Why or why not?

What sorts of things do you think a rewind feature would be good for?

So this poll was exactly what it should've been on the original thread.
