I don't get how they are announcing this as an "all new car" when it only looks like a facelift to me. :odd:

Every Generation of the Viper was more than a "Facelift". the addition of the Coupe in 96 and The Deletion of the Rollbar on the RT10 for the last Gen Vipers was enought to justify as a "all new car"

The entire chassis was almost completely new. It's called evolution, not revolution. When you've got something good you stick with it, and Dodge obviously had a winning formula from day 1.

One more teaser before the reveal

I have a feeling this generation viper may be the last of the breed with insane displacement.

Can't keep on making the engine displace more and more without effecting emissions and fuel efficiency.

And with car emissions regs certainly getting more and more strict, Fiat may tell Dodge to change up the formula if it comes down to that.

I'm going with Forza, though the first headlight pic looks awful GT5-ish. Would be odd for the Japanese game to get it first though.

Look at the center vertical bars in the grille. On the prototypes these bars were slanted apart toward the top, like fangs. In this model they're parallel. I wasn't sure how I felt about them being slanted...think this is a last minute change?

yeah it also forms the more traditional Cross/ + that is symbolic of previous vipers and "Dodge" so i guess even though the branding is changed they wanted to keep some heritage there

the headlights are sort of C6 meets SLS AMG

Wow, very retro, which isn't bad as the GTS Coupe was already a beautiful car. Love the fact it seems to have been helped modeled in Forza as well. :D

dodge used forza to make a presentation now gt5 players (i'am one of them) should probably wait for gt6 :(
RocZX yeah i think it was on the 1st gen viper

And cue the whining the about PD.

That aside, I'm loving how it looks so far. Its taking immensely alot of cues from the First Gen GTS. Love where this is going 👍

There are some Italian styling clues as well, a bit of current Ferrari echoes through in the front end and those rearlights look very similar to the ones used on the Maserati Gran Turismo.
That's Fiat ownership I guess, didn't really follow the development but was Pininfarina involved?

No matter who was involved, I think it can be boiled down to the fact that the Corvette and Viper have taken inspiration from classic Italian sports cars since their inception. It's pretty par for the course with cars like these since Italy borne numerous beautiful sports coupes before they lost all their design sense. That's basically where the whole idea of big front-engined, rear-drive sports coupes came from.

I know, GM's design department were obsessed with Ferrari in the sixties and seventies but it wasn't only the Italians which started the whole Corvette/Thunderbird rivalry but mostly the post-WW2 popularity of British sportscars, often brought to the US by US pilots who drove them in the UK.

It mainly struck me that the styling of the new Viper seems to borrow heavily from current styling trends from the other 2 sportscar makers owned by Fiat, as much as it harks back to the original GTS which took inspiration from the Shelby Daytona.

My love with the viper has ended ..

i just dont see anything i like about this car ..

not one thing .... well the logo is nice ...

No, the first one is very forza 4 esque. The first pic looks like it was taken out of AutoVista which would make sense. The other three look like casual forza in game play. Easy to differentiate between it and others.

And where did the Daytona Coupe get its design inspiration from? The same people they were trying to beat - Ferrari. And they did. From the beginning the Viper has been the Daytona Coupe reborn. The story overlaps quite a bit.

I just hope the car picks up from where the SRT ACR left off and not from the standard SRT-10 coupe of the last gen. I'd like to see this car less oversteer happy, and more glued to the road this time around. As much of a ZR1 fan I am, I'd like to see this car beat it, which would give Chevy the incentive to up their game in that area.

Not sure if I missed this but do we know what engine it will run?

So...if this new Viper had design consulting from Ferrari and Maserati, does this mean the new Viper is a Pininfarina design? Because they do the designs for Maserati and Ferrari. They were the ones that came up with the Maserati GranTurismo and the Ferrari 458. And doesn't Pininfarina also do Alfa Romeos and the new Fiat 500? If so...that just makes me more eager to see what the new Viper looks like.
