You know what we all missed? The 30th birthday of the Viper...well, 30th birthday to the day it first went on sale, anyway. What's more it joins the Jaguar XJ220 in those 30 years. The Viper has been almost continuously produced from '92, and the Jag, hasn't, but the fact that these two share their birthday is quite cool.

Come back in 10 years for that milestone.

I'm not even 30 years old.

What?

20th anniversary edition? Maybe. I see base, GTS, SRT 10 (maybe ACR)and 20th anniversary in the lineup.

I think the Final Edition SRT10 was meant as an Anniversary Edition/end of generation thing. But, who knows, maybe they'll show the 20th Anniversary Edition 2013 SRT Viper.

This may be real http://forums.viperclub.org/threads/651543-*FOUND*-2013-SRT-Viper-Hot-Wheel-diecast-pics!-(rear-end!)

if so not good i never really liked the Gts style to the Viper. Im more of a SRT - current Viper person ..

Let down
Deal with it. The GTS if one of the best looking sports cars ever designed. It embraced classic race car designs of the past, managing to look beautiful and evil at the same time.

Agreed. The car was clearly designed with motorsports in mind (older GTS.) Double wishbone all around and a shape that allowed the massive power plant to be located as close to the center of the car as possible much like the Panoz cars. All while looking strikingly attractive with a look that is immune to time. It's an ideal GT racer.

And then it went on to dominate for years because legit. The SRT team has always known how to build a machine.

Matter of taste man. I personally got bored from the design after a while and thought the looks were overhyped. Not saying it's ugly though.

The one that was just in Buffalo? I didn't go to that but I had a friend who did. I can ask him.

It was not at the Buffalo auto show, it will be in at the New York International Auto Show in NYC.

Oh ok. I gotcha. I didn't know there was another one coming up.

If that Hot Wheels model is accurate, I'd say this car will be one of the hottest supercars on the road. Certainly worthy of being called a Viper, that is for sure. Dunno why but I had a feeling the next gen Viper would be more "GTS-like" than the sexy, but not GTS sexy SRT-10. Can't wait to see what they do for an ACR model

Well in fairness, it is a toy car, so a lot of the detail isn't modeled. Plus, it's all one color.

I know it not an exact model of Viper, but if you look at the shape of the tail lights similar to the Aventador.

Hmmm, my only complaint really is the headlights. But other than that if the car actually ends up like this, but in real form I will be satisfied. It looks better than almost anything that has come around in recent years. But the more you look the more you realize that those headlights work best with the new body shape.

It does appear that way, but again, there's probably a lot of details we're not seeing.

Unless of course, they go with arrow-shaped lamps in the casing, then you're absolutely right. :P

One point I must raise that this Viper goes against traditional Viper traits. The first Viper was released with no roof (RT/10), and then the GTS. SRT-10 convertible in 2003, and Coupé in 2006. Where's the lack of a roof?

As a kid when the car was out I would have agreed with you, because I loved the RT/10. However as an adult now, the GTS is just very nice and has a look that will stand the test of time. the stance is just beautiful and the rear end is nice as well. The RT/10 is just too rounded too me, now. I do agree though it's all a matter of taste. The ACR is still the best looking viper ever.

I'm very pleased with the lack of lack of a roof. The coupe was always the better track car. It should always come before the roadster, which is more of a street cruiser. At least that's what I think. I was pretty worried back in '02 when the Viper was being sold as convertible only.

Really? Do you mean the GTS based ACR or the SRT-10 ACR? If you mean the later then I'm confused. The GTS is a better looking generation.

I can see your point. But it would still be nice to see the general trend continue. Anyone also notice that every style change seems to change the manufacturer. Chrysler; Dodge; SRT? :odd: What's next?

This is what we've become? Analyzing a hot wheels car? Desperation at it's finest(or worst).

:D

For me it is the opposite.
I loved the old Viper when I was younger and the older I got, the more it bored me. I must say though, that the design grew on me again in the last couple of years, guess I'm old enough to notice some other details I haven't before, or whatever.
