I also think his edit looks more like lights I imagine in my head, now to edit that hood. In all I'm happy the Viper is changing it's global image and is coming up to other $100k car interior levels. Very happy one of my top 3 cars in the last 20 years moved away from the ugly monster it was becoming with the 4th gen SRT-10.

It sounds nothing special to be honest.

Then again, it's just a game.

Vipers never sounded special. Simple, short exhaust with small mufflers and a firing order that doesn't help. None of that artificial exhaust sound.

I've never heard another car that sounded like a Viper. It might not get your blood pumping but it's definitely unique.

We already had a video with the sound of the real car...

He's not giving full throttle, but that's still better than a game video imho.

I love that look of the front lights you modified 👍 And I'm a GTS style viper fan.

Quite honestly, I think that's exactly what the car needs. Those lights look great.

Well, here they are! The guys who ain't feelin' the front lights! What up fellas! :sly:

Maybe some people prefer the new front lights/styling, while some others feel that the design has strayed from the 'Viper's classic look'. At least I think that way.

Personally, I don't see the evolution of the front lights. The position of them is too far off to the sides, unlike the previous generations. Its like a whole new design without any connection to past designs. So, the one I made was just my interpretation of how it should have looked if I was designing the new Viper.(I wished :scared:)

But maybe they got it right. Evolution requires change, and change is what they have done. Anyway, I'll probably just get used to looking at it after a while. :)

You can scream all you want about it, but that video shows how sexy and brutal the car actually is. Now it needs blue paint, and white stripes.

Answering to Road and Track: Has the ZR1 found its rival?

Yes. The ZR1 is a truly admirable car, very purposeful looking and with performance to storm almost anything out there, but the Viper is on another league now. I want it, badly.

Let's wait to see what the GM brings to the table with the C7.

Ferrari Chairman speechless after seeing the SRT Viper
Ferrari Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo was "speechless" after he got up-close-and-personal with the 2013 SRT Viper recently, according to Chrysler boss Sergio Marchionne in a Detroit radio interview on Tuesday.

"The car is a superb machine," Marchionne, the chairman and CEO of the Chrysler Group, told WJR-AM radio, according to a transcript of the interview posted on the Chrysler Web site. "I had the chairman of Ferrari down here for the board meeting last week and he had a chance to look at the car, and he was speechless. I mean, for Ferrari to admit that the car is a unique vehicle is a hell of a compliment to the work that's gone on here. So I'm delighted. I mean, so far, knock on wood, we're doing well."

I didn't know that Ralph Gilles was president & CEO of SRT, but I have no doubt that bringing a designer to the head of the company has helped better the Viper in many ways. In particular, the interior is by far the greatest improvement over the previous generation of Viper. Despite performance figures and specifications, it was impossible to take the outgoing Viper remotely serious with its embarrassing interior appointment. Stepping it up was crucial:

The first 2013 Viper just sold at Barrett-Jackson for $300,000. Proceeds, of course, went to charity and the car came with a package that included:

- SRT Track Experience with instructors
- VIP Trip to Petite LeMans (probably with SRT Pit Passes)

And that was all that was mentioned.

Thanks for posting this, I was watching but fell asleep. I would of thought it would of sold for a bit more. The first ZR1 off the line sold for 1 mill.

Yeah. But there was nothing really special about the car other than that. If I were SRT, I would've made the first car a Special Carol Shelby Tribute Edition SRT Viper. And have it Blue with white stripes and maybe come with a Carol Shelby signed picture or something. It would be a tribute to the guy inspired and helped create the first Viper and it would've made it a very rare, one of a kind collector's car.

SRT also mentioned that the car at the show WASN'T car car being auctioned off. The auction was for the first buyable SRT Viper with the VIN # of 0001. Meaning whoever bought it, would have to weight until probably September/October for their car. Why they didn't have the actual car being auctioned off there, i don't know. It seems like that would've driven the price up a little bit, though.

Because the Viper is still in Testing stages.. 300k for a Car that havent been Tested by Magazines, with no official performance stats is still good.

Testing stages? It goes on sale in Q4 of 2012 as a 2013 model. There's not a lot of testing time left. Like I said, you'd think they'd have a special edition version or something completed. Oh well. My original point was, it didn't go for higher than 300K because 1. The car people were bidding on wasn't even there, so whoever won it didn't get to drive it home...which, really, if you think about it, is a good thing. That just means that SRT will ship the very first Viper your local dealership and you don't have to waste the time and money to haul it across the country. And 2. The car was a regular GTS with nothing really special about it other than the proceeds went to charity and the Petit LeMans VIP Package with the SRT Driving Experience thing. I've noticed that charity cars don't usually go for much at Barrett-Jackson. In fact $300K is about average for 'em. So...not a bad price...I just wish it would've gone for more...like showing up GM.

The Dart was still in Quality Testing in early Mayh before the roll out in this month so its Possible also the Viper havent probably been Crash tested.. Secondly This was Orange County Barrent Jackson. not the big one in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Yes its a GTS but thier isnt really much of a Difference between the SRT Viper and SRT GTS model other than the Obvious Luxury's it has

Christ it looks great in those photos. Makes the last gen viper seem incredibly dull and dated.

Would never happen as Carroll's namesake hasn't been tied to a Dodge in over 20 years now & if it was going to happen, it would have happened long ago.

Today however, Ford is the only marque Shelby will allow to produce their own Shelby-badged models outside of the manufacturer's own Mustang creations along side the GT40 & Cobras. So, there isn't a chance in hell Dodge/SRT is going to place what is now essentially a Ford performance branch logo on their halo car, or allow any tie in.
