Well from my point of view, the issue with money was you're either willing to spend it or not. I decided I was so I got a job that would let me make that much money, and now it's a matter of waiting until I'm in a position to buy. As a consequence, the people around me make as much money or more than I do, so buying expensive cars isn't out of the question and at least one person I work with does own an American supercar (C6 Z06, admittedly a little bit cheaper). It doesn't take away from your point, I'm just in a small group where the overall picture may not apply.

Well I'd go further than that, I think we even both understand the other's angle. I think what we disagreed most about really was the definition of a driver's car. I don't see how the Aventador was shoved into last place in its comparison, but I don't doubt what the MT drivers thought about it.
You're absolutely right. We're not very good at arguing with each other, are we? :P
Let's not underestimate the effect looks has on car sales here. I think the Viper has a pretty strong appeal to certain people. The Corvette has gone pretty European, the Viper hasn't.
As a European, the C7 looks incredibly American to me. I see no European-ness in it. If anything, I'd say the Viper looks a bit more European.

LOL, c'mon man. This is exactly what I was talking about in the Funny Pic thread.
Except its coming from some Pennsylvania kid who's spent the last 18, 19 years of his life in the US.....

Nothing more than documents approving your entrance & right to live in the country. You're about as European as the illegals here are Texans.
Let me get this straight. I can't decide who I am, but you can? I'm sorry, I don't understand.

You don't have to be any nationality to come to the opinion that the Corvette has "no European-ness" in it. But you decided to throw in, "As a European" as if that gives you more of a reason to come to the conclusion when you've been an American for 20 years & an European for 1 or 2. It comes right back to what we talked about; ever since your move to the UK, you've done everything to distance yourself from the US to a point where you don't even act like you ever lived there. I don't care what nationality you are, but don't act like you've been one long enough to decide what's what regarding it.

Would be the same as an American living in Italy for a year dictating what real Italian food is compared to the world.

Don't act as though you can tell me what I can and cannot do with regard to myself. We're done here.

Don't see how at all, and rather than get into an argument with McLaren you could ignore him. I thought there was some viper news being discussed here not a page full or your feuding transgressions.

Yeah, I'm sorry about that, I should have stopped it much sooner.

Could it hurt them to remove some of the exotic features that go over and above what the Corvette offers such as the carbon-fibre hood, roof and tailgate, magnesium cowl etc and sell this entry-level version at tens of thousands less?

The cost of tooling up alternative parts materials for an already small production car would likely be enough to make the price difference small enough that people wouldn't buy the lesser one.

Perhaps with a more straightforward marketing direction under Dodge, they'll have some more success with the new Viper. But, when it isn't a clear performance gain over a Z51-equipped Stingray, they've got to do more to differentiate their product not only against the major domestic competition, but also, against the onslaught of "affordable" European alternatives now that the F-Type R Coupe and several others are on the shelf.

I'd also consider not going to Le Mans a bad choice this year, but, what are you going to do. "Race on Sunday, Sell on Monday" doesn't work the same way it used to.

Well, I dunno about that. It helps when there is a clear link between the thing on the track and the thing down at Honest John's Dodge Emporium as opposed to, say, a NASCAR Toyota Camry. Pulling out of Le Mans was probably the better idea if they couldn't make a successful run with what they had.

According to Beth Peretta:

"Adding two endurance races at Daytona and Watkins Glen to the schedule [on the creation of the United SportsCar Championship] meant extra expense, which meant we had to step back and get all our ducks in a row,"
