Another congrats for AMG (for the speedway 150 also - sounded like a crazy run)! I didn't get much accomplished this weekend, but did put in a fair bit of practice on several missions - only completed R8 @ Infineon though. Quickly came to the realizations I don't know Sarthe at all, have no clue how to drive the Superbird, and need major work on the three turns at Laguna leading up to the corkscrew.

Nualum & Moloch, Thx !

Aah the shopping trolley, my fav car NOT. Brake early really really early and lots of gentle steering!

Copied from the stock thread.
Also noticed the stock thread has now surpassed the 50,000 views mark! Well done to all involved in making this a superb reference guide and one of the most popular threads on GTP! :D

I'm pleasantly surprised to see so much interest in this 200-subforum. It's been around for just 6 months and the new threads have already attracted over 18000 views.
I'd like to thank all contributors. Also happy to conclude that getting this subforum set up did not turn out to be a waste of time.
We seem to be posting some quality info in here (at least that's what I believe we're doing).

Keep it up. 👍

Hey AMG,

I'm glad to see your licenses are mostly shining gold now... 👍
I told you you can nail them, remember...

Thx for dropping in Fizio, 👍

Yep, I thought I'd concentrate on those for a while as gaining points had become a bit of a nightmare. Going from 40 to 61 gold and especially the Audi R8 at Infineon (S13) helped me with the impossible FGT races. All of a sudden I was able to get 200 points at Inf in the Audi against the FGTs.
But only because I pitted less than they did.

Hopefully racing at UKGTP7 (this weekend) will help me along a bit further. I'm keen to see how the other participants race and I hope to gain some insights there. :)

Just thought I'd say Hi...

After achieving 100% completion and winning gold for all license tests I thought I was almost through with my GT4 addiction. And then I found this new challenge. Thank you all, I suppose :boggled: ;)

I have just passed the 20.000 mark and am still working my way through the beginner events, so a lot of work still to be done.

Will keep you all posted of my progress. I will also post some of the cars I used into the stock car thread, the beginner races seem to be lacking a couple of 200pt cars.

Nice to see you. Good luck with the points gathering. If you stay here long enough you will find there's a real helpful bunch of guys here.

Thanks nige,I don't think I will ever join the 100,000 club but enjoy the new challenge :)

C'mon Ozi, the first 75-80k are easy AND we need new blood in here. Most of us have already passed 100K so it will be good to see new people taking over. Keeps the subforum alive :)

I've been making predictably slow progress due to not playing enough, but all the info compiled here is superb. Now that Vash has completed his amazing blitzkreig of stock wins to max points (major kudos) i'm looking forward to reading nige and bttlefed's final victories too.

In the meantime, I'll probably keep taking the road-more-travelled of cars, tunes, and lineups until my skill level is somewhat higher... I still haven't gotten to the point of making any real contributions to the forums, but I'm further along than I first thought I would get and still absolutely hooked.

Yes! Just finished the first goal: completing all beginner events with 200 points. Currently at 22.347 points, next goal: 25.000 :)

Like ozirules, I think 100.000 will be a tall order, but it won't stop me from having fun trying

Seven tracks finished for 200.

all the above non max races done with an F1 car. I nearly twice nailed GVS for 161 with an F1 but lost in final 2-3 laps.
El cap is a nice track to run 200 pointers except in FGT, those cars fly and so do I but not on the road. :ouch:
Tokyo, the dip on the straight after the 180 turn always makes me crash. Ive even tried with a 60 point F1 car and lost 20 secs by lap 5.

I might make a few more points in MX5 but that's it.

All 1MRs are a no go, and FGT is just a nightmare. I just dont have the reaction speed to turn it to my advantage. Every race in FGT has been a nightmare.

To be honest this quest is getting to me and I honestly don't think I'll ever make it to 111.000.

Keep your spirits up AMG! 110,777 is one heck of an achievement and I'm sure you have a bit more ability than you give yourself credit for. If I could lend any tangible help beyond cheering you on I would - your contributions here have been great.

On a related note: I'm rather dreading FGT myself. I have little-to-no experience with really high speed racing and it's going to take a boatload of practice before I get the timing/reflex/precision down - several of the missions have shown my how far I have to go...

110,777 is one heck of an achievement

It is, and I've had to battle for every point. But it still feels like coming in 2nd, and no one remembers those. Not that I'm looking for that kind of gratification. I want it for myself, just having the satisfaction of completing something in GT4 other than 100%. (and yes I know its only a game but it bit me hard)

your contributions here have been great.

It gives me an immense pleasure to have gotten this subforum up for all to enjoy (we have nearly 25K views). Route's thread was/is an immense source of information but it became bloated due to popularity. I'm sure the Aspec oldtimers (Slotcarrod & ANK) that visit here on and off are pleasantly surprised how this has turned out. And Moloch still makes his appearences too. (have you found anything useful MH :))

Some FGT 200 pointers can actually be achieved by a mediocre player like me in an F1 Seoul & Fuji (200 ballast wing 55/77) and the tyre wear is ok.
HSR & Sarthe are "easy" as the AI need tyres fast, Nurb is ok too as AI crash a lot.

That's still a lot of work for you, I was thinking you were with less races to do.

And almost all the help I could give you is already posted (by me or by others, since those where the setups I used).

But still I can give you a few more tips:

HK (Hyundai event) - wall ride the turn at the end of the long straight (if well done you can overtake 2 or 3 guys, just by doing this in lap 1)

FGT championship
Tokyo - Wallride in almost everywhere (I used the Audi R8, new, no oil change, R2/R1 in those races)

NY - Wallride the 1st 90º turn after the heirpin (this if done well will make you do the turn much more faster and you will exit the turn faster too, same R8)

El Capitan - all ride 1st heirpin

I basically used 5 cars in this championship, 2 R8, (since if I changed the oil I would need to start in R1 and I didn't wanted it and the car lost power, it was used in 11 races), 1 2J (Stage Turbo 3 and R2/R1 tires for Côte D'Azur), FGT (ballast and less downforce for Suzuka and Motegi-Road Course, both the hardest races in my opinion) and Black 787 (don't know the setup since this was done way before all others, only used in the Super speedway).

I think you can get 111,000 without too much trouble. You have wone quite a few races that are too hard for me so I think you can win the following:
Alpine Tokyo R246 - 15 (its all in the weight distribution)
FGT NY - 61
FGT GVS - 80
There is 156, all you need is 67 from the FGT at Tokyo and El Cap.

I got 200 in an FGT for all the ones I am listing here - you just need to muck around with the suspension to suit each track. I once heard a driver (Group A I think) say that a race car should always feel as if the rear end is about to break free - when it feels like that the suspension is set up right. That is how I try and set up my cars and it seems to work reasonably well.

Tokyo FGT was probably the best 200 pointer I have had and it is all about that point you mentioned (I assume you are talking about turn 6 - Akasaka Palace) - once you work out how to get around that corner without spinning and without loosing too much speed you will be set.

Edit:
have you found anything useful MH :)
Unfortunately I don't play much any more so nothing new - I am tempted to give the 1000 miles another try after recent posts but that is about it. The other races are just too annoying. To get to 111,000 I would need to do all the long enduros and given the unpredictability of my power supply I just don't think it is worth trying - but, maybe one day. I think I need another tv that can be set up permenantly for GT4.

What nualum says is absolutely 100% correct. Hey AMG I think or should I say ,we think, that you CAN make the max. It's been a brilliant achievement so far and I think it will continue. Yes we all have our ups and downs. You, more than anyone, know what I've been through on occasions.
KEEP YOUR SPIRITS UP. We are all here to help each other. You, more than anyone, deserve our help where we can give it.
Good luck,

All FGT 200 pointers can be achieved by a lesser driver than yourself! The key is to spend plenty of time qualifying. Run a few laps, come into the pits and tweak your setup. Repeat until the car handles as well as possible. Know the AI pit strategy, and devise a strategy that allows you the best use of your own tyres. Also be aware that the AI will lose a few extra seconds on inlaps and outlaps, and that they have a habit of crashing in these long races.

I'm still some way off 100,000 points, but have completed all of the FGT for maximum points, the first eight detailed in the linked post.

Since it isn't even possible to complete the game for 1-point-per-race with just prizes, it's not possible to do it that way, either.

I was wondering: is it possible to achieve all races at 200pts A-Spec, only with Prize Cars??

You'd have a problem with e.g. 1 make races. There are no Saleens, Copens or Crossfires you can win in other races to enter these 1MRs.
But it would make for a nice challenge to see how far you CAN get using your idea.

I have a subscription to every thread in this forum+ instant notification, I cant believe I missed this one. Will give it a proper read. + rep 👍
Will keep you guys posted on how it goes :)

AMG.

Question:

PS the Wing ratio is 1:1.4 e.g. 75/105. Ive so far used this exact ratio to lower wing on e.g. the FGT but was wondering if this ratio should be adhered to or could you also (purely as an example) go to 64/105. I know you can set it but does that "upset" the car? I assume sticking with 1:1.4 is the best way to go when lowering values.

Actually I say it wrong: I know (at least I guess) it's impossible to make it this way. :)

I would have say: "Is it possible to achieve all races at 200pts A-Spec, mostly with Prize Cars??"

A hard challenge. You would have to make a "map" of your progress! Tell me if you're going to do this challenge!!

Maybe I'll do it with you... But for now, I'm just trying to get 100% for the 1st time. A long way...

The stock downforce, like the stock suspension or gear ratios can be altered to whatever you like. While you can upset the balance of the car, you can just as easilly improve it. I found that reducing the front downforce to minimum had negligible effect on the car (perhaps a tiny bit of understeer), but reducing the rear had a larger effect causing oversteer and increased tyre wear.

That, Car-Less, might be due the the fact that the rear drives 900HP while being pushed down by only 550KG (more with ballast, of course) and downforce...

Just passed my second milestone: 25,000 :D

Still running the '73 beemer in as many events as possible, but could not get that final 200 points to break the 25,000 barrier, so I settled for 137, just to get the 25,000.

Which makes me wonder, what would be the least number of cars required to max out A-Spec points?
