Does anyone here play Guilty Gear for PSP? It's somewhat like Street Fighter when it comes to sprites but that game is awesome.

Got a chance to play Divekick against my friend. It was hilarious. It's a nice break from Street fighter that I can't take lightly anymore. Last fighting game I could have a blast playing less seriously was Smash Bros. Brawl. I still want to play that game again with someone. Too bad the serious people play melee instead.

Guilty Gear like Street Fighter? *insert long complex paragraph on how Guilty Gear is a bit harder than Street Fighter* #kappa ( please don't take it the wrong way) ;)

Talk about learning a BnBs in skullgirls:
c.LK c.MK s.HP[2] sx
s.HP[2] sx
cr.MK s.HP[2] sx
cr.MP s.HP[2] sx
jump,*instant j.LP xx j.QCF+HK, land
jump, j.MK xx j.QCF+MK, land
s.LK[2] cr.HP xx QCF+MK
s.HK, jump, j.LK j.MK j.HK xx QCF+MK, land (possibly char dependant)
s.LP[2] s.MP cr.HP xx **DP+HP (recharge stance)
`*You can get a little bit more damage against characters who can get hit with instant j.MP if you replace this instant j.LP with instant j.MP --gtlx
**If you are looking to DHC and not replace your charge, use qcf+HP instead for more damage --gtlx ((Alternatively, QCF+LK xx LKMK Opera xx DHC --VIVIT))
***Doesn’t work on Double
****Doesn’t work against most crouching characters.

D, do you play any fighting games?
I used to, I really enjoy fighting games (SF, Tekken, Soul Series, Guilty Series, BB series, P4, KOF, DOA, DS, MvC, etc. ), but I haven't been keeping up with my video gaming.....it's been almost a year since I've played anything unfortunately.

I was under the impression WWE games were considered sports games.

I imagine you know what I'm saying when I'm comparing something like a football game to Street fighter. WWE and UFC don't carry the same kind of fundamentals like SF ... or even Dive Kick.

Here are my (probably) controversial opinions on fighting games:

DoA-criminally underrated
SF-criminally overrated
BB-best 2D fighter ever
MK-sucks
VF-never played
T-worse than DoA
SC-best weapon-based fighter

You're the first person I've seen that thinks Street fighter is Overrated. Not saying everyone thinks this, but most of the time I've seen Street Fighter put on this unreachable pedestal everytime there is a conversation on fighters.

That's really the reason I said they were probably controversial. The few I've played just didn't "feel" right to me ya'know? The fact that I grew up playing 3D fighters may have been a factor in that though.

I grew up playing 3D FGs too. Tekken 3, 4 and 5.

Then about 6 years later I started playing Street Fighter IV. I won't make any such claims which game is the best fighter. While all FGs have levels of fundamentals, they all distinct styles of play that make it unique. SF, and now Marvel are admittedly now one of the easier 2D games to get into. KOF and Blazblue on the other hand aren't. Mortal Kombat is on a whole lower tier if I'm not mistaken. That doesn't mean the game sucks. That only means the game has mechanics that don't dive as deep as others in the core of fighting games and what really makes a fighting game a fighting game. It's easier to understand with SF and said game is popular all over the world. That may not mean it's overrated. It just means it has the hearts of long-time players and is a popular choice.

I like the flow of 2D fighters purely because I'm obsessed with the rewarding feeling when you execute what you wanted. With SF, you're going to find you'll need to not only time your attack buttons to link your attacks in a combo, you'll also be doing some intricate things with the joystick too. The speed of playing with quick moves also drives up my concentration. That just became a personal preference of mine after trying at Tekken 6 another year later. Tekken felt slow and sluggish.

You bring up some interesting points, but I never said I thought MK sucks due to the mechanics not being as deep as other games. I dislike the ridiculous amounts of gore and the gameplay feels to (too?) stiff to me. As for SF, I understand where you're coming from, but, as I said, it feels off to me for some reason. That being said, I never really spent any time with SF4 so things could have changed since I last played. (If my memory serves correct the only one I played was some form of 3)

EDIT: Just realized I cut out the last paragraph of your post. In reply to that part, I agree with you on Tekken being "slow and sluggish", and as for the rest, thats why I play fighting games period.

VF-never played

Fantastic series. Very easy to get into, but extremely technical and extremely satisfying combat in my humble opinion. My order in this series from most favorite to last favorite.....VF2, VF4, VF1, VF5, VF3, VFkids. Many great memories playing the earlier games in this series years ago in arcades.

Thing I didn't like too much about Virtual Fighter was that there were only 3 attack buttons, but there was a lot of overlap in attacks if I remember correctly.

I grew up with only two 2d fighters, Street fighter and more fondly Mortal Kombat. Tekken was the first 3d fighter I played and I didn't play another until MK went 3d (at the time, was only into those series and not necessarily into Fighting games yet so hadn't heard of Virtua Fighter, DOA, Soul Caliber or anything else).

In fairness, the over-the-top gore is essentially what makes MK what it is. Been that way since the first one. I do agree that the gameplay is sorta stiff, seems like its been stuck like that since its gone 3d.

Yeah, I do..I should put a kappa hashtag...

Oddly, I could always argue against why Tekken is one of the greatest 3d fighters I have played; why SF-new gen is overrated; How Blazblue isn't the best 2d fighter; and how Bushido Blade is probably better then SC.

I think it is very dependent on ground basics and spacing. Just like third strike.
Guilty Gear is another fighting game similar to Street Fighter.
I really hope you don't say that again
#kappa
I probably be corrected by Sanji soon enough.
