2014 will be a great year for all fans of (2D) Fighting games:
-Ultra Street Fighter IV
-Guilty Gear Xrd
-BlazBlue: Chronophantasma
-Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold
-Skullgirls Encore
-Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX
-Killer Instinct( new modes, characters)
and maybe Aquapazza(Europe?), Arcana Heart 3: LOVE MAX!!!!! (West?).

but the game I'm most looking forward is Dengeki Bunko FIGHTING CLIMAX.
I think it will be a great FG, firstly is a crossover between SEGA x Dengeki, and because of that this game will have a great roster of characters and surely beautiful stages.
As for Sega side, the only character confirmed so far, is the final Boss Akira (VF), but because the game will has a Sonic themed stage and also a Valkyria Chronicles themed stage, so I guess it will have for sure some characters from Sonic series as well Valkyria Chronicles, and VF characters.
As for Dengeki side this game will have:

Anyone who watches Anime, reads manga/VN will recognize certainly these characters.
I can't wait to play with three of the most famous Tsundere in Anime ( Kousaka Kirino, Shana and Mikoto Misaki)

This recent rumor says GG Xrd and FIGHTING CLIMAX will heading to arcades in March.
http://shoryuken.com/2013/12/26/rum...-fighting-climax-heading-to-arcades-in-march/

If that is true, maybe both games will probably have a console port in the next Fall (Japan).
I really hope to see FIGHTING CLIMAX in the West.

Didn't I report that awhile back? ASW always goes the arcade route then on to consoles. Skullgirls encore?
While Mavis Beacon’s work to popularise educational typing software may have become overshadowed by her long history of drug abuse and violent crimes, we’re finally seeing developers courageous enough to make touch typing training tools once again.

Earlier this year we had Typing of the Dead: Overkill and now we learn that fighting game Skullgirls will have a typing mode added.

'The Typing of the Skullgirls Encore' mode will be added in a future update and asks you to type out strings of words whenever you attempt a super move. Nail the word and the already powerful move will do 150% damage. if a couple of errors slip in you’ll find it does just 100% damage. Mess up entirely and it will do a piddling 10%,

Because most players will be playing with a gamepad, this new mode will require some pretty fast switching on players’ part; making an already difficult game much harder.

While the mode is already working - the developers showed it off in a recent Twitch stream - it will be released with the console relaunch next year.

Asuna's got such a great posture in that stance. It'd be a darn shame if she wasn't top tier.

But to get back on topic, Fighting Climax ain't a game of interest. Anime fighters never stood out to me.

Only Ultra Street Fighter IV is because I already play the base game. Killer Instinct would be a greater interest if I ever get an Xbox. Maybe 3 years later.

@Omnis, I love how Max ends this combo @9:38:

Though it may be more impactful to soak in some of the earlier matches.

Tried to teach my friend to play street fighter on a DS3 on my pc yesterday. He couldn't do a shoryuken and eventually gave up. And he says he likes street fighter. A true fan.

Does anyone in this thread play SSF4 AE on PC by the way?

Had a lively run this morning on SF. Was glad to know I wasn't completely braindead this time, but it'd always hurt knowing you have to accept a kick in the face when you know you reacted correctly. Why? Lag. Ugh.

Was at 970pp, went over 1000, and then plummeted back down to the 700s :(

There's a recently-growing KOF community here. Seems Marvel is slowing dying off though.

Tonight's session at the locals was great. I've never played so damn well before.

I would like to say Video or it didn't happen  but I won't. Recently, I need to brush up on Tag 2 and Project M

Been looking at some classics lately and have been looking at buying this "The King of Fighters 95" for the Sega Saturn.

Edit : replaced image as hotlink was disabled.

Now I'm not a massive fighting games enthusiast or anything but I always remember it being a cool game I wanted to play, it was just a little out of reach when I was a kid (expensive as you needed the memory cartridge, and it wasn't widely for sale in most shops).

Has anybody had any playtime with it? I've seen a few videos but nothing that can give me a real perspective... I'l just say that this is not cheap and will set me back as much as (or more than) a brand new game on a modern console.

Your best bet is to buy the PS3 version. It is a perfect port of the Neo Geo version(though I suspect that it is an upscale of a PS2 copy that was released two years earlier that I know was based on the Neo Geo version). Plus, it's pretty cheap.

The issue with that is that I have somewhat of a Sega Saturn + Dreamcast collection and I choose games based on that. But of course the quality and enjoyment of the game is real important too, having games on PSN feels real cheap to me and I don't know it sort of diminishes the experience, I could probably get a Neo Geo emulator and rom it if I was going to do that... Thinking about that maybe that is what I should do!

I have no idea how the Saturn version is but I'd think it could manage a perfect NeoGeo port, the Saturn was originally meant to be a 2D console after all and was initially aimed at the hardcore arcade gamer. With that said I know nothing about this game, wasn't aware there was a PSN version and I have no idea how the Saturn port is. Will do more research.

Thanks.

Did some research, watched some videos. It seems the Saturn version is near perfect just like the PSN version (though the PS1 version is not). Not identical though... apparently there is some very slight difference in colour tone and some very slight difference in volume levels/mixing on some things. It's one of those situations where if you really have to look that deep for differences then you're good to go!

Cost me £34 for a really good condition copy with the ram cartridge. I just need to get an arcade stick now, not much fussed on the official saturn one, looks really cheap and crummy.. Seems a waste to play the game with a gamepad though.

Mostly finding well used examples of this stick, I dunno it looks pretty cheap to me.

A SEGA Saturn and Dreamcast fan? Very nice!

For what I saw, usually SNK games always had better ports on SEGA consoles (Saturn and Dreamcast), than on PS1.
So you made the right decision. But even being a good game, I think 34£ for KOF95 was expensive...
