General Model Kit Building Thread

wow they all look so good. i use to build them but the hobby shop in my city closed down. so unless i want boring ones from walmart i have to order of the net.

Clutch I have to order off the net to for the good ones. as for my light's your right they do look like Die-cast car lights. The non detail is the way they look on the screen from GT4 you can tell if the tail light's are solid red or with the amber parts so I tryed to keep the model as close to the game as I could.

Here's my entire collection so far, starting from when I was in second grade (I'm 19 now).

(Sorry for the big pic, but this way you can see them all! :dopey:)

I love building models lol, it's alot of fun being able to build the car as well as design how it's going to look. Some are stock, others are custom. Quite of a few of the newer ones have added features and parts, customizing is fun!

Hay Buick you have a Model Museum right at home. Sorry all that I have not got in back sooner I'm build ing in 4 Group build's on 2 sites. But I'm goint to start on the sky line in 2 day's of posting this.

Very nice, the paint looks great. Did you modify the suspension? It looks loooooow.
The Mini looks good too. It would have been really cool if you painted something on the roof like a Union Jack or something...

I did not modify the suspension, I went to to great lengths to ensure accuracy in all parts. There were two different rear leaf spring shackles included. I used the taller ones to make the accurate ride height. The stock shorter ones made the rear too low; it is a frequently documented inaccuracy in this particular kit. Thanks goes out also to an anonymous and kind local forum member on http://www.camaros.net for letting me make some measurements and take pictures of his 1:1 for reference material.

I wanted to put something on the roof of the Mini, but I just don't feel like my painting skills are good enough to do that. :D

Thanks for the compliments, and criticism is always welcome too and in fact encouraged.

Well, for all those that think I just buy my models assembled, your wrong. I just finished my 3rd Revell 1/24th car model and am soon starting on my 4th.

Basically, 2 years ago for my birthday I got a Ferrari Revell set including a F50, Enzo and a 360, also my friend got me a Focus WRC car.

I've completed the 360, Focus and the F50 and am about to start work on the Enzo. Is there any tips you guys can think of to help me make this one perfect.

P.S If you want to see the Focus, 360 or F50 just give us a shout and I'll put some up.

SHOUT! (but for no particular reason)

I am finally picking up on building these once again, starting with a Shelby GT-500 kit from Revell. It's a shame, though, that the molding lines are so prominent on this kit, as well as flash.

Congratulations on your progress in this field, by the way.

The Enzo.. you do know that most cements dry fogged on clear acrylic, right? Superglue will work for the windshield and head/tail lights. The last thing anyone wants is an Enzo with fogged lights.

that's going I all way seam to type a "t' and not a "g" sorry about that. Any ways I thought I would show my starting pix here I talk about my work on othere sites but I will only show my starting work here first.
Ok I have started with an Aoshima NISMO GT-R kit, I have put in the frount brace for the
radiator. An put on the White bace next I will be painting the orange stripe. Wish me luck.

Now as you all know that on the hood the company name is there. (In orange) I'm going to try the make this and not make a decal.

Now as for the roof I know there is a PlayStation Logo up there but there is one more thing. I will go and take more pix. I'm going to mask this off to.
Now on the back the word Offical only comes on the (Pace Car) Not the (Race Car) An the race car is what I'm doing here first. here's the back of the two cars.

You see I have a lot to do I will keep you all up on what I'm doint first. Oh by the way the name of the car is the 2005 Nissan Gran Turismo LM GT-R (Race Car) An yes there will be an engine in it. Han any one seen if the car was build by any one else I can't fiend any thing like that or if any one made a real 1:1 scale car look like this. For any one that didn't know what 1:1 means it's the scale of a full size or Real car. If any of you can thik of some thing you think I should try feel free to tell me. Oh and as for the engine I think it will be some what stock only with some small changes. But I'm still thinking on that.

Hay can any here can help me out I want to put up a new Avatar, but there is now place to upload my new avatar. Here is the new avatar I want to use.
Gran-Turismo_Skyline-GT-R_R346.jpg

From what I see, as the Pace Car is fictitious; nobody has embarked on such a project. You're writing the book, as far as I'm concerned.

For the avatar, you need 100 posts to be able to put up a custom image. Or, you can wait a TREMENDOUSLY long time. But don't spam posts.

While the orange hood is possible to paint, decals for the scripts will make the job easier. Tamiya has a couple for their R89C; they are almost a perfect fit.

Thank's on the avatar info I will be posting a lot of my pix of this build that my help the number count go by faster LOL. I will look for that R89C LM car for the decals. and I think I will try to make some up in my Photoshop program to.
Also on the roof there is a GT logo over the Playstation Logo. As for this history build I will be doing both cars. The thing that sticks out is in the rear the pace car has a stock muffler and the race has a Big mouth muffler, and some deff. logos. As for the interior I'm wating till I get the body done first. But I will tell you I'm going to make up some orange seat belt pads with black nismo on them. When that time comes I will post my art on that for you all to see and tell me wich ones you like.

Sorry, guys I'm still taking shots of my things, waiting for the right lighting to appear in my room. At the moment it keeps being too dark.

Ok guys I'm painting an engine for a deff. type of car an once that is done I will add my orange to the color red that's left in the color cap and do the stripe for the GT-LM. I hope to have pix up to day if not by tomorrow.

My latest project, even though it is 1:12 and this is a thread for 1:24... the rest are in my fotki account... http://public.fotki.com/slowman

Oh, it's gorgeous. I've just scanned eBay in the US and put bids on one and a '67 Corvette to match.

Your superdetailing is excellent, I love those copper wire brake pipes. :) (At least, I assume you've used copper wire...)

If I win both kits, I'm going to consider some chopping and changing to get a small block Corvette and big-block Camaro.

Oh, you've made my day. :D

I've always wanted a 1:1 '69 Camaro, never quite found a good value one over here in the UK, so I've got a '62 Corvette and a '68 Cougar instead!

Now, if you guys can find me a decent kit of a '68 Mercury Cougar, I'll be impressed. I've been searching for weeks now, and the conclusion I've come to is: there isn't one!

I might get the glue out now and repair my 1/24th Ferraris to photograph and show you... it's about time. :D

Heh. Thanks for looking, it made me dig further. There was an AMT kit... a 3in1 1/25th scale. And the one that's available on eBay is already bid to $150... rare beast!

Ok sorry guys I had some real set backs to day, but here's where I am.
First I masked the roof and hood at the same time to get the lines just right. Once that was done I masked off the full car then I started in on making the Roof LoGo stencils.
I got the shape of the roof stripe and free handed the GT logo and the playstation co. Logo. An cut out the two logo stencils and put them on the roof.

Gran-Turismo_Skyline-GT-R_R3410.jpg

Ok once the roof was done I remasked the hood with the two place's masked off. The Game Logo(Gran Turismo) and the car company (NISSAN) I will do those later on my Photo/shop.
Gran-Turismo_Skyline-GT-R_R3412.jpg

I know all you guys are thinking why did he do all that he can just make the roof logos up on a photo shop program. (I don't have a laser printer)-(An I'm not going to pay any one any thing to my work for me) LOL I don't have the money any way.
Ok now that, that's done all I have to do is the trunk stencils. I know what you all are thinking he can't do that to. (BET ME) I have started on it and I will have it done later to day with the paint on it or over it. LOL Man was it hard to cut out the first two stencils, I ended up stabbing my leg when I got "mad" (Not to deep) I hope I do this right.
Ok here you go a nice clean trunk to do.
Gran-Turismo_Skyline-GT-R_R3413.jpg

first like the roof I put tape over the place and free handed the images I need.
Gran-Turismo_Skyline-GT-R_R3414.jpg

Then I pulled the tape of an placed it on the cutting bord with the clear masking tape over it for the making of the Logo stencils.
Gran-Turismo_Skyline-GT-R_R3415.jpg

Ha Ha I'm going to make you all wate for those images.
Later DuD's & DuD-ets

OK your the first let's see if we can get at least 2 more to say any thing. Hummmmmm....... LOL I love this build it's has bin a fun project to do.

you know that this one and the Merc.A160 are not the only two Game models I have done. I have also done one from the game NFSU's intro car the pink Mitsubishi Eclipse. (Lesa's Eclipse) I wont show the car on here as to it's from a different game unless GTP will let me. if you all want to see that car just go to my album and scroll down, it's under the A160.

Ow! Accidental stabbings always hurt. I cut several of my fingers trying to seperate the wheel assemblies for a Corvette (I made an error).

Great work! I too eagerly anticipate the final result.
