I haven't played it in a couple of years, but the thing that would probably stick out to me now (as it always did) was that cars were too prone to snap oversteer. Not anything approaching GT4 terrible, but the game had about the perfect amount of it for mid-engined cars and weight transfer in general for them seemed pretty good or was at least faked well enough (speaking as a guy who has spun out a couple of MR2s in real life, you could definitely feel the difference in game between an SW20 and a W30), but then there was nearly as much of the same thing for even the most overpowered and/or lightweight skinny-tired FR cars.

I never once played the game without a DFP or DFGT, FWIW.

What would you say about TXRD2 nowadays?

still the best pure touge sim, that's got it's arcade feel, i'm aware of. I havent kept track of what's new on pc, and got no time to play anything atm.
but it's only realistic if you want to tune cars to be, and also play with a decent wheel.

btw i made a vid on why c1gp is awesome awhile ago, and just remembered, its a step back from txrd2 if you are looking for realism, but still a fun game. takes a bit too much unrealistic skill, since you add enough power, and cars just seem to want to slide as soon as you throttle.

I will have to give that a try. Looks like I will enjoy that game as much as TXRD2.

When I first played it, coming from GT, I'd say Enthusia has a bit of a learning curve to it. My first race was absolute trash, but later on I came to get used to the controls.

When Genki started making the TXRD series, that's where they found their niche because they have the help of Nobuteru Taniguchi who is a D1GP driver and represents Team Genki Racing for D1GP.

Back to TXRD, I agree that TXRD2 was a really good game. It was challenging at first but after practicing, I was able to drift perfectly and it was an accomplishment also for me because I can finally drift in tight tracks. My favorite car to drift was the S2K and for rally, the Starion Rally Car.

TXRD2, interestingly enough has a special place in my game collection as it took me years to beat. I'm not going to lie how insane my reaction was when I befriended Ground Zero over not only his R34 but being one of the more harder bosses to befriend since he was one of the last bosses in the game. *Don't think he was considered a Slasher, am I right?*

You see, some people think you have to beat your opponent without hitting anything to get them to befriend them. Some also say to drive the same car that your opponent was driving. That is not true. You have to beat them and race them again. If I'm not mistaken, your car also needs to have more horsepower than your opponent's car. It's not something that will happen in one go since befriending them relies on luck.

And also the Opel Speedster. Damn that car was OP in TXRD2. The car almost handles like a F1 car from what I remember and was also pretty quick.

No, he isn't a Slasher because he didn't represent Hakone. Not if he's the last individual racer.

You win a few races, but you also should lose a few races. Racing a few times work.

Funnily enough, I haven't driven it yet.

Was it? I doubted the Speedster at first because it wasn't fast when I first bought it but seriously? Like an F1 car? I should buy that car again.

I actually got lucky when I first bought my used car which is a modified Mazda Atenza that has the Mazda 6 LM Race Car look.

Maybe yours wasn't fully upgraded or tuned differently. It was literally the best car in the game along with the R34 and the Mitsubishi Evo. That's what I remembered. The car handled like a beast. Loved it in Hot Pursuit 2 and loved it even more in Drift 2.

Any updates for a new TXR?

Love the series, have started play another play through for txr3 and Drift 2 while only using the G27. It definitely adds some better control inputs, especially in txr3. If they do make another one, I hope that it will have cockpits, steering wheel, and H shifter.

From what I've been hearing lately from their Twitter page, it looks like they are hiring people for their team. Although they said nothing about the game from what I remember from those tweets, if this was the case, I doubt it they can get the game released by this year. *According to a older tweet, Genki is aiming to get the game released by this year.*

Thanks for the update! I emailed them a few years ago and they would not say "no". I guess I will have to keep my eye on this thread from now on!

This thread is the only reason I am coming to this website currently.
I'm usually around to board GT related hype trains. But TXR is my true favorite racing game.

Same, but mostly a lurker. I had to create an account as soon as I saw thing thread. ITC is one of my favorite games of all times, and I have spend years replaying TXR0, TXR3, and Drift 2. I just wished I had found this almost a year ago

Need help guys. Just recently bought a copy of TXR Zero for 0.50$ and I started off with Mazda RX-7 FC3S with a hp of 205. So are there anymore power tune up stages available besides stage 1-3 because I feel like my FC3S isn't that fast enough. Also I've beaten the Rolling Guys crew so who's next?

I would try to look up a FAQ guide for it, but I do think it goes up to stage 9.

Personally I buy the Evo III as, to my knowledge, it offers the most power and ease of use for the early stages of the game.
Aww shucks. I was deceived by the FC3S' hp and price.

Although I totally enjoyed Zero, my main gripes about the game was unlocking the highest level parts available for body tune, engine and mufflers. While you will most likely get the parts before you finish the game like let's say, there will always be that one car you're going to be using a lot, if you wanted to get those parts for your other cars, this is probably going to take you weeks. There is a trick to obtaining it like leaving your game on while on the victory results menu or whatever for 30 hours without exiting the menu which I did use to get the parts for my R33 so while you're waiting until the time comes when you hit 1864 miles, you could be doing something else like watching a movie, playing on your other game consoles or go out and do stuff. Still I just think it's sort of a pain to do this for every car rather than doing it for one car and then the parts will be available for every other car in the game.

Another thing is that once you finish the game and you've already spent all your millions that you got from beating Speed King and White Charisma, *no you don't get another million dollar bonus for beating Unknown* the game becomes a big grind since all the races you do will always pay you $1k. Although if you're concerned about this, best thing to do which I would only recommend if you already beat Unknown which in other words, you would already have beaten the game, you could continue playing the game from there without saving so you can try out all the cars and there upgrades, visual modifications, etc. with the exception of the level 5, 7, and 8 parts for the engine, body tune and mufflers since there's no way you're going to be leaving your game on for over 30 hours. Regardless of those 2 flaws, the game is still good though. The game did have some interesting cheats which I would like to point out.

So did I bought a good starter car or not?

It's sufficient, by the time you complete the C1 you should be able to buy an A class car which will carry you through most of the game. Being that it's still early in the game, if the car happens to not work out you can always restart. But it should be good enough.

Thanks for advice guys. The reason why I chose the FC3S is because its featured in Wangan Midnight as one of the major character's car.

Also, how can I do the odometer trick since I converted the cd I just bought into a disc image file meaning I can play games without needing the cd.

Go race and after the race, when it is still on the auto pilot, take the CD out (but dont reset or anything). The game will still continue and the car will be automatically driven. This is useful to gain a bunch of miles while you do something else

You don't need to take out the disc for Zero. Removing the disk was with Three since it wouldn't let you rack up miles while idling that way.

Am I the only one who chose to begin with a C class car (AE111)? Not all that powerful, but light. The game puts alot of emphasis on how weight affects acceleration.

The only time I start with a C class car is in drift 2. In TXR zero and 3, I usually go for the lighter weight, rwd, A class starter car. On the highway, more power can hide my crappy driving or bad tune settings

I need to try more of the C-Class cars in the game. I may try the Eclipse or something FF.

But how? I'm on a digital version of Zero.
