Yes indeed been a while, had to go and 'like' a lot of good posts here again as you can see :dopey:

So,.. those placeholders huh...bet that was another marketing trick no?
The whole game is a marketing trick as it is. I don't expect better sounds until GT7.

True, and who says that won't be a marketing trick neither but with better eye candy? I can't really see PD becoming competent again all of a sudden, after a whole PS3 life cycle of bad decisions.

Finally updating those sounds is only one step towards bringing back the GT we used to know.

Agreed. I want the best for this franchise, but... Vision GT? Premature release? Microtransactions? It's all a corporate scheme, in my eyes. Boost sales and "improve brand emotion." I'm all for a strong brand image, but they could be doing so much better for themselves. Sounds are pivotal the the driving experience, which is the focal point of GT.

I don't think they will have proper sounds for all cars even in GT7, if you ask me. They've been using more or less the same sounds for 15 years. It would take quite a leap to utilize a new sound engine and perfect 400 cars. I just don't see PD as that kind of studio. Doing things fast and right from the first try.

The new free DLC for Game Stock Car 2013 with the Formula V12 sounds...

This is the car:

PS: I see too much "pCARS this, pCARS that..."....GSC 2013 is where is at...for 25 bucks the best simulator of the moment in the market with one of the bests sounds. Doesn´t require a monster PC to run...

GT7 won't have better sounds. If you want sounds or proper game play get something else. I think PD is now stuck supporting casuals who think GT has the best sounds in the industry. I may change this profile pic to a screenshot from AC because I don't think I won't play GT again for a long time now /moan.

Like most of you have said, I don't see a huge improvement on the sounds that we will think oh it sounds great. Maybe just be passable.

I recently got NFS Rivals and the sounds on the cars are pretty must spot on and the gameplay is good. Shame GT is no where near NFS or Forza car sounds.

Why have a car game that doesn't sound remotely to cars that we can recognise?

It is like playing a football game and not having the best football clubs there to play with or using a football as a hockey puck or something. It's fundamental..

The link is from NFS most wanted 2012 with car sounds comparison to the real counterparts.

This is the main reason I have this game too...Sometimes I put it to enjoy the sounds of the cars.

Though...I also recommend Race 07, R3E, GSC 2013, some mods for rFactor like Historic GT, Enduracers, DRM 2.0 and some more. Your ears are going to enjoy a lot and also have some fun while driving of course.

I'm listening to the video while I'm doing a lot of other things, and my girlfriend just talked to me, that's not Gran Turismo, which game is it?
Damn it, even my girlfriend can tell the difference... and she didn't stop to make fun of the game since she listened to ANY of the comparisons.
Which video? The most recent one? That's Need for Speed Most Wanted.

lol, a few days ago I was doing a kart race in gt6, then my brother came to my bedroom asking if I was using a hairdryer.

@tomcat66, GT6 doesn't have "excellent" sounds, but those videos aren't showing true sounds, that car sounds totally different on my audio, maybe due different channel volume balance, which is crucial on GT6 where channel balance isn't tuned properly.

How do you make that "channel volume balance"? Sorry it doesnt matter how I play the GT6 sounds (TV-speakers, headphones, surround-system) it always sounds horrible. My Buttkicker has almost nothing to do in that game, no matter what selection i make in the audio-setup.

Today I did try the Cobra (AC 427 S/C) and couldnt believe how bad the sound of that car is in GT6. I switched to Forza 4 with the same car and finally the V8 sounded right (and my Buttkicker and my Soundwoofer had something to do).

@tomcat66, on your sound system channel volumes on db5.1, increase center channel and rear channel volumes, also small increase on bass channel help(more for buttkicker).
Finding good balance between center and rear channels gives out real sounds of game, bass also can be used, I'm playing with 5.1 headset so not wanting too much bass directly to ears.

If tried to show GT6 balances are on default, it's close to this: (0= optimal volume)
Left & right channel = 0
Center channel = -2
Rear channel = -3
Bass channel = -2

So need to rise from those -2 and -3 values to zero, by adding more volume there.

OK I will try that later today. Thanks

I have a theory on the vacuum sound effect. I think it's the spinning of the dyno that making the whoosh vacuum noise. It's not being filtered out digitally. Some dyno vids if you listen to them make that vacuum sound.

Good explanation. Check out this video and compare the sound on the dyno to the in car sound later in the video:
