You guys do understand that the "soundfix" video is a user creation and faked, right?

I was wondering the same thing. How hard is it to overlay the sound of an actual hot lap of a corvette on home turf? Not only that, the shifting is not in sequence.

I have a hard time believing that everyone really does take the time to properly consider what they are saying and don't just spill bile out of sheer reflex.

Those few posts were pretty embarrassing; even if you miss the title or misunderstand it, there is no way the audio in that video could be mistaken for anything but a real-life recording. It's like those "game vs. real life" photo comparisons that some people get confused by.

Now there is nothing inherently wrong with such an "inability", it's just that the opinion that follows such a display of cute obliviousness is inevitably dampened a bit.

At the very least, you all paid @RACECAR a massive and deserved compliment. 👍

Yeah, I feel like I've heard that soundbite before. Lap of Laguna in a ZR1 possibly?

It was from this video by Auto Bild:

Was the only video I found with no taking and enough footage to use the downshifts and upshifts.

And to expand on what G.T.Ace said, these videos are essentially me carefully dubbing over the in-game sound with the real audio, the idea being to not only make something pleasing for the folks (and using a more creative outlet for my disappointment with the sounds), but to also get the attention of PD. I did this with GT5 in the thread here and am currently doing so for GT6 here.

And because I'm surprised didn't already do it in this thread, An example I did before GT6 came out:

I remember watching this when it was first uploaded; good sutff. 'If only' I thought to myself.

The thing is though (and I might be setting myself up for a beating with this one), I personally believe PD knows what 'good sounds' are. Them dubbing sounds in trailers is obvious proof. It's just their executions are not up to standard, mainly because their main focus in the past was obviously graphics and physics and sound maybe wasn't as much of a concern. But with all the recent backlash, they realise how important it is and now they're working on something even better that we have yet to see[or hear]( I'm with @Griffith500 and his theories).

That's what i've been saying as well. For me, the Bathurst/Mt Panorama trailer is indicative of PD knowing full well what a car should sound like. Yes, they are dubbed however if they had no clue whatsoever, they would have just included in-game sounds on the trailer. I'm beginning to think that PD is focusing on the sounds as much as they focused on graphics. I think the method is complete but as Griffith has mentioned, it's applying it to the PS3 where they're having problems due to lack of resources.

So! How about those placeholders, any word yet on them being replaced?
In a universe where Japanese was easy to translate probably not.
This universe, no.

I think PD are not fully concentrating on this issue because the casual audience don't care. I'm not saying they are not doing work on it, its that it may take much longer than we hope if they are not going to surprise us with a random update.

What do you think about engine sounds in this video:

(yeah I know it's available in forum, but here I want to know opinion about sound fx)

The Bathurst trailer didn't even have correctly dubbed sounds in the first place, you see the cars doing something and the sound is representing something completely different, it's like bad playback/lip synching, not to mention that they reused the same sample on 5 different cars with completely different engine configurations, just on that trailer alone, I'm amazed that some people didn't notice, In fact, that Bathurst trailer is remarkable for being one of their worst faked trailers.

I would say this is the worst one:

As painfully obvious as the bathurst trailer was, I'm still stumped at how you go through multiple sounds for one car AND not sync up the audio for brakes and acceleration .

My god, it's laughable and to think that some people were all over it.

I'm not buying another GT until they fix the sound engine, it pains me to say this but damn i can't take it anymore. Some engine sounds are better then others but most are just rehashed from GT2. Adding insult to injury so are some of the car models. I have went back to pc sims from 2005 and to hear me out, i think in a racing game sounds/physics are more important then graphics, at least for me.

All this clap trap about the PS3 being too slow to allow for decent sound is just that - clap trap.

There have been many driving games on the PS3 that have more immersive and more realistic sounds than GT4/5/6.

The bottomline is sound is not a priority for PD and they do not care to use the correct samples.

If they did, they would have done so starting years ago.

Kaz Also said the Heat haze, and lighting from the ps2's GT4 was not possible on the ps3 but yet i just seen it being done in Bioshock infinite. The bottom line is PD need some new staff.

Exactly this. I remember watching the intro video for GT4 and getting all excited about the sound, only to be supremely disappointed when I started my first race.

Either way, it's no excuse. The longer PD promise this so called "sound update" and deliver nothing, the less interested I become. Besides, with Project CARS on the way I might have a better reason to buy a PS4...

I really think Kaz should think before he talk sometimes. He always talk about all these great features and new things coming yet deliver only a fraction of what he's talking about then you never hear about those things again. I remember him talking about how they completely reworked the sounds in the game and how its gonna be this huge leap from the last game and it would be ready for launch. Then a couple weeks before the launch he said it won't ready for launch but it will come as an update pretty soon. Fast forward only a few days left before launch he said it might not even make it on gt6 but they're working on it. Now you don't even hear about it again. He went about it totally wrong, leading us on like that and getting our hopes up for nothing when all he could've said in the first place was " We're working on the sounds ". Straight up that's all he had to say but no he lead us on for nothing. And people have to nerve to say " oh they sound much better " and my personal favorite " its an improvement "....are you kidding me ? for a game that's been developing for 15 years they shouldn't even sound like that in the first place!. Graphics and physics, well done for an " ok " improvement, but AI, features, sounds and customization POOR POOR POOR!. What makes it even worse is that Kaz has a successful racing career and pretty much built nismo, yet he manages to mess up some of most important things in a " Real Driving Simulator ". GT is honestly my all time most favorite game in the world but I'm losing all hope and I need to see changes soon or I'm done. I'm put too much time into this series to settle for an " ok " game. Im not expecting a mega huge OMG THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER experience, but cmon fix one of the biggest things wrong with the game which is the sound.

It's particle based, not full-screen. Particle effects are the new full-screen effects. Watch this. Read this.

Using particles and finite distortion areas / texture lookups saves calculations, and is performed as part of the forward rendering. What Kaz described sounded more like they were distorting the whole screen (perhaps masked by the PS2's "famous" depth buffer) after rendering was otherwise completed.

Not really the same system, and GT6 struggles as it is with particles (smoke, dust, rain, spray etc.) Different game, different loads.

It's just disappointing seeing so many lies come straight from a cats mouth.

I feel like crying now when I watch the BMW Z3 GT3 at Goodwood FOS video. An official video showing a car with such good sound ends up, upon release, sounding like a hand-dryer in the next room. You think PD would have sorted that car surely.

I just ran the Red Bull Jr. race at Grand Valley East. I made contact at the apex of the final corner and spun dropping back from the pack. The sound the rest of the race was incredible. I'm sure it wasn't realistic but I could hear the Jrs. on the other side of the track and it sounded cool. It reminded me of being at races as a fan and hearing cars a few turns away approaching me. I could even hear a sound difference when they were in the tunnel. Again not realistic I'm sure but I liked it and it shows me that they can and even have some really good sounds already. I was wearing Turtle Beach PX5's by the way.
