To be honest, I've scratched 'New/Improved Sounds' off of my personal wishlist for GT6 a long time ago. I'll just have to accept them as they are.

No biggie, I don't play GT to listen to my car.

Sound is so important for immersion... this Z4 sound is just an insult to all of us car's enthusiast. GT6 = 2012 graphics, 1980 sound!

The Tokyo Show will really have to step up the standard (more than few cars and track unveiled) or we can just assume that GT6 will just be an upgrade to GT5 and hope that Kaz will be pressured enough to actually get his head off his A$$ for GT7.

Heh, yeah. I know it's important to others, just not as important to me, is all. 👍

I'm no sound expert, but Kaz has hinted that PD are working on a sound generator/simulator.
Now if we assume that PD have successfully completed this simulator, then is it possible that this simulator/code would be too complex or too large to be included in the demo's we have seen to date ?

Anyone...?

Same here bud. 👍

Hmmm. You can say that. I will probably assume so. :)

I doubt whether it would be to complex for a demo, due to the small selection of cars.
But I'm no expert too.
Also it seems doubtful that the new improved sound will be oin yhe final game at launch and probably will be implemented through an update, how big and complex is another thing.

Ahh, just like the HSV-010. Than again, Kaz said he isn't sure if the improvements will make it on time until release. So he'll probably add them through updates instead. (^_^)

Thats not the real sound, its been over dubbed.

Not to mention the dubbed sound is still nothing like the actual Z4 GT3 engine sound, save for the drive-by roughly 1 minute into the video.

And for an apparent "placeholder" sound in the previous video, they couldn't have selected one that's further from a V8 sound if they tried.

The HSV upgrade was just a quick tweak of their actual sound engine, it still sound like S#it when you compare it to the real deal, especially trackside. PD need to cook a new and MUCH richer engine sound, period... GT series is trailing so much behind actual racing games in this dpt that they should be ashamed of this kind of direct feed sound quality in 2013 (sepuku around the corner? ;-) ). Especially when they dare to dub their trailers at the same time.

To be fair, the tweaked sound, while still not visceral like the real life version, still sounded A LOT better than when the HSV first came out.

the Z4 sound from this video is a lot better.

Not really, its actually worse as it switches between three sound samples (one of which is the BMW M3 GT2).

This is (in my opinion) how it should've sounded:

I dunno why the 787B just doesn't sound as brutal as it used to.

In GT3 and GT4 it sounded really high pitched and monstrous, just like the real car. In GT5 though, it sounds dumbed down, a bit soulless, not the same unfortunately :(

Sounds same-ish but lower pitched and less exciting, the car doesn't sound as scary as it used to. PD screwed up an already great engine sound by taking it's soul away.

I'm hoping for better sounds, but I am not getting my hopes up, I know Kaz said that GT6 might have better sounds, all we have to do is wait till the game comes out or until the Tokyo game show.

I gues there is only so much room for engine sounds on a single dvd, with that many cars in the game.
What they should to is cut the number of cars in half. And remove all those allmost identical models. And honestly anything below a 100bhp can be removed.

Disc space is not the issue as far as the current distribution of samples is concerned (maximum of 4 sets of 3 samples per source - there are two sources per car). Time might be. But what Kaz said is that it's basically getting the new sound "generation" working on PS3 (given everything else it's already doing).

Duplication and invention of cars is a separate issue.
Cars less than 100 bhp absolutely should be in the game; they can be just as much fun as any hyper car in the right environment.

Sad to say but even GT2 had better sounds....

My all time fav car in real life - it actually sounds like quad throttle body turbo 4, rather than Outrun like in recent "GT6" vids.
Even the throttle blips are better...

I have to admit I don't get to watch as much SuperGT as I wish I could as it's tricky to get coverage in the 'states. Reading through this and a couple other threads, people seem to suggest that GT5 updated the HSV-010 to something better than it originally was. Turns out that Valdudes has a comparison video of the old versus the new, which had me curious, so... (skip to 1:25)

Now listen to this: (skip to :36)

Or this

Yeah... i dunno about that.
