I think GM may have missed the boat with this one. According to an article I read on Yahoo, which was supposedly released by Consumer Reports, truck sales are down just a hair shy of 15%!! Meanwhile Ram sales are up almost 7% and are on course to overtake GM to become the second best selling truck in the US, behind the F-Series. I bet heads are rolling at GM right now.

I actually think I'd like having the two levers for tilt and telescoping wheels.
I'd have to try it to see the benefit. As far as I can tell, one lever works fine. Maybe GM is trying to make up for their inability to design a proper driving position.

OK, I have to confess something. The new Chevys have hit the streets here, and while I don't like it as much as others, seeing the new one right next to the last one, it is an upgrade in looks. It definitely looks better in person than in pictures.

The GMC's I've seen running around, I'll agree with. They're surprisingly nice in person, but then again, we all knew they were the better-looking of the two since the reveal. The Chevy though, it still looks like it's wearing dorky glasses to me - even the girl I was with when I spotted one commented, unprovoked, on that.

I actually prefer the Silverado this go-round. Something just doesn't fit looking at the Sierra for some reason. Still waiting for the Colorado though.

Both look a helluva lot better than they did...still too god damn big though

I personally don't really like the new GM trucks. I think they've all been relatively ugly after this:

I agree. My dad had a 1986 Silverado.
You mean a C/K :D Silverado's weren't introduced until 1988.

I never cared for their interiors. I thought Ford had the best interior of the three from 1980-1986, Dodge close behind. I love how they had the information lights inside those little compartments above the gauges. I personally think the base models on non air conditioned trucks looked. Black with no vents looked way better than the fake wood trim with vents.

What does any of this have to do with the new GM trucks? Especially when the article in question is showing a Dodge Ram (or Ram Ram depending on how you buy into marketing).

Well having it lifted can only help
......that's not lifted. At least I'm pretty sure that's a stock 2500 with just larger tires on it so it gives that appearance.

Anyways, I've been seeing more of these GMs around lately and I must say they are pretty sharp looking. Better than the previous gen BY FAR.

Got to drive a brand new Silverado today. No idea what engine or trim level it was, but I assume it was a mid-range model since it was a Crew cab with a nice big touchscreen, leather steering wheel, and sunroof. No leather seats or sat. nav though.

Anyways, I was actually pretty impressed with the interior. The materials looked and felt quite nice, and fit and finish was good. However I didn't really like the design; the big recession/storage compartment below the A/C controls in particular just completely breaks the flow of the centre console, and in the car I drove it was filled with junk like cigarette packs and spare change.

In terms of driving dynamics its pretty much what you'd expect of an American truck. Extremely vague steering, mushy brakes, bouncy ride. Can't say anything at all about the engine though as I was driving on small streets and in dense traffic so I couldn't let it loose.

The thing that stood out the most to me though is how massive that thing is. I don't often drive brand new trucks, mostly 3+ year old F150s and GMT's, but this felt MUCH bigger. I had to drive on some tight European style streets, and there were a couple of places where I had to embark on the sidewalk to avoid hitting parked cars. These trucks are really getting too big even by American standards.

I'm surprised you say it's bouncy. How does it compare to a new Ram? I've been in those and it wasn't bouncy at all.

Or you're not use to driving a truck...considering they aren't all that much bigger than what they have been, and I drove a 2500 diesel for two years and a 1500 on and off during that time as well on all kinds of roads. Then I test drove the newer Rams and it didn't feel all that different. To be honest, maybe the chevy are slightly bigger but I don't see how they really could be. Maybe the change in body and field of vision is an issue with these trucks now more than ever?
