Wow definitly the hardest race I have ever faced
I never driven in this track before and I had like 13 laps of practice
And I still havnt found my sweet spot on the steategies.
At least I ised this season to test my car for the next one so it doant really matter.

What a very disappointing night. I was really looking forward to this race one because I knew the Mustang would shine here and two I like Tokyo Expressway tracks.
Grabbing 3rd in qualifying, (would have been second if @Herimopp89 didn't get the draft off me) I quickly went to first before T1. Then being able to run lap after lap with @Herimopp89 & @SAMHAIN85 was awesome and the only highlight of the night that's until it was time to pit on lap 4.
I thought maybe those two could go one more lap than me on fuel but that wasn't the case. 6, 7 to 8 laps each cycle for them compared to my 4 laps let me know very quickly how this race was about to turn out.
Even running in someone's draft with FM on 4 and short shifting I still could not get 5 laps without running out of fuel.
Needless to say I ended up 7th because of having to make 6 pitstops.

This is my first real attempt at running Gr.3 and I have done a few races here and there but not enough to really know the class.
I have always been under the assumption that the Gr.3 class is the most balanced class in the game ( at least that's what everyone has always said)
Last night I found out those people are complete liars because I've been racing the Gr.4 class for two years and absolutely nothing is this unbalanced in the Gr.4 class.
Having people make one pitstop to your two stops every cycle is utterly ridiculous.
The Ford can't hang on the more technical parts of any track then gets hammered on ridiculous fuel consumption on tracks it should shine at..(what a shame)
To think I missed out on 6 hours of sleep and left for work at 3:30 am this morning is the worst part of it all.

Congratulations to @SAMHAIN85 @Herimopp89 @Infineon

I was running fuel map 2 most of the race and in the draft I was fuel map 4,5,6. If i.rsn fuel map 1 I was out of fuel I'm 4.5 laps. It takes a great deal of patience saving fuel knowing that you are 2 second slower a lap. Honestly I was very happy with your race. I thought you were doing great even with a gas guzzler.

@Rinsky, I hope the experience last night hasn't soured your overall feelings on the ARL GR3 league. I do know there are some changes coming for season 5, especially in regards to tire wear and fuel consumption. Hopefully that will put things more in balance, like we had in previous seasons, and encourage you (along with all of the other drivers) to make a return in season 5.

The season is rapidly coming to a close, and the results from race #10 are in. Congratulations to Silver winner @Neutty and Bronze winner @Infineon.
Well done gentlemen! The results are posted below along with the updated points (driver and teams). I will have the Google sheet updated a little later today. (sorry for the delay).

Points are scored with the drop in effect.
  • Drivers with 10 races, top/highest 8 scored
  • Drivers with 9 races, top/highest 8 scored
  • Drivers with 8 or less, total point value

For my first real race back, I was happy/aggrivated/mad/excited all at the same time. Welcome back to racing! LOL

Mustang was killer down the straights. Actually could hang with Nog and pass him. If it weren't for the stupid track, I may have actually had a better finish. Ms Nuetty pulled me by 16 seconds and had it worked down to 4 before disaster struck. Top two caught me coming to the final turn and that was an amazing fight to watch!

I honestly will say the Supra is right there with your mustang on fuel usage. I unfortunately HAVE to short shift in every race we run. I’ll gladly watch your replay and see if you are short shifting enough. I was running out of fuel as I was going into the pits on lap 5. I could NOT save enough fuel to get 6 laps which I wanted to do on 2 of my stints. I just couldn’t save enough. I however did not change fuel map, but I did short shift. I knew after the mock I HAD to drive the wheels off the car the whole race to beat @SAMHAIN85 who was going to pit 1 less time.

The BOD is working on new tire and fuel wear.
We felt comfortable with these wears 6 months ago, but it seems like the physics and these usages have changed drastically which now calls for some MAJOR improvements.

It's just the car I decided to go with. I honestly didn't know enough about this class so I never dreamed it would be that bad.
The funny thing is more people benefited from my car than I did last night because I would pull people down those long straights much faster than they could go on there own.
I know my own inexperience is always a factor in this class but last night it was 95% the car.
I don't feel it has anything to do with ARL at all.

Now I really don't know what to run when my Series starts in January. I got a lot of testing to do now.

I really didn't start fuel until about the half way point as I was still fighting for 1st or thought was.

I see that I have a qualifying time posted. I got DC’d at the end of qualifying so ended up starting last. Is that how it’s supposed to work or should I have started where my qualifying time put me? I wasn’t sure at the time so I just went with it. Turn 1 lap 1 was pretty exciting.

Had I known you DC’d I would have reset the grid manually. If that happens then that should be announced in the text box in the lobby. I didn’t know what happened to you and I didn’t make the assumption. Sorry.

Fun race last night guys. I finally made it off the grid. That Supra was so strong on the straights compared to the BMW though. I had no chance to keep in touch with @Neutty after I lost the draft. A fun race back none the less. I got overtaken by two other Supras at the start, so was glad to make it back up to second in my lobby.
I’m glad we got you off the grid!!

WE HAD ABSOLUTELY ZERO grid issues las night in our race lobbies. Congrats to everyone.

It’s all good. I wasn’t sure what the rules on DC were during qualifying. The race was about to start and I didn’t want to delay any longer. I will keep it in mind for future reference.

If you need any help testing just holler and I'll jump on and help man

I think that the wear and consoption we use are to critical so we are having less fights than before because most of tge time when you get close to someone they are in a different strategy so the fight wont last more than 2 laps. And I feel the races are more lonely than last season.
PS
Just my honest opinion. Hope it is useful

It was a great race for me. I had only a few laps the night before for practice and familiarisation. The circuit isn't really my strongest, but probably one of my faster ones given the windy and sometimes tight turns that need you to react before you even pass through there.

Qualifying was relatively smooth for me, though I didn't manage to time myself to get a free tow. The Ford GT was pretty good on the corners and brakes.
I opted for an aggressive approach like the previous race, it payed out well. A good solid qualifying position and a storming rocket start. Almost took 3rd place but had to back off because I got sandwiched while picking up the speed. Lap 2 had contact with another racer while drafting down the straight.

A five-stop strategy (lap 3-7-11-15-19) gamble took off pretty much in the later stages of the race, where the rest seemed to be down on power and managing fuel. While I focused on getting my corners right while carrying as much speed as possible. Had to call in a slightly early first stop due to damage taken. The rest were butter smooth.

I'm pretty surprised that the Ford GT is actually fast down the back straight and acceleration through the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th gears, the draft was worth about 18km/h (11mph) or up to 0.7 seconds a lap. Even without drafting I could take out almost a full second off the leader's gap. I recall eating up 2 seconds off the front driver in just a lap of straight rundown.

With the recent consecutive setbacks and bad results, I'm particularly relieved the curse has been dispelled on this race. Could have gone higher if I didn't slow down on the start and perhaps into the top 5, but this is a good piece to bring home the points. Lastly, my congratulations on the class winners.

I feel this too, just 1 lap down and the gap has opened quite considerably. I particularly feel the tires just die off after a few laps of good fighting. This season is more of a strategy play rather than more action, which is pretty rare.

All I know is I used Super Softs and ran out of gas before tires. Never touched the fuel mapping. WFO the whole way. Could've probably gotten two runs out of a set, but didn't want to chance it.

That straight has always been brutal on the mustang. It was the first car I ran in this series also so I know all too well ur pains. The only way I was even able to do five laps last night was in a draft and using map 6 in the tow otherwise when I was on my own I could only do four as well. The only saving grace I had was I short pitted twice and that got me close enough to the 4th that I could over take 5th-7th when u guys pitted otherwise I would of been tenth or eleventh in the lobby so in my opinion u did very well with what u had to work with.
