The Gran Turismo 1 Time Attack Challenge is a small series similar to the one run on other GT games where everyone is given a car to use and a track to race on and everyone has to try to set the fastest possible time. All tuning (including racing modifications) is allowed and you can use any tire compound. If you wish to have your time counted you most post an image/replay showing the time you have achieved in game. First Place gets 10 points, second get 5 and 3rd gets 2 points. No corner cutting/wall grinding.

This car was terrible. I'm pretty sure it's best on paper (almost 400HP) but it has almost no acceleration for the majority of the course. I don't know if it's turbo lag but it seems most prominent on the inclines of the course. Tried turning down the turbo boost but all that did was make it even worse. This is it with full turbo boost and the shortest gear ratios I can get.

I may have a go in either the Starlet, Mirage or Civic-R soon.

@JASON_ROCKS1998 , could you include full list of allowed cars in the OP , since there are just under 170 cars in the game. Shouldn't take too long. :D

Ban the [R]Dodge Concept car , because of the well known weight difference/s

Added all accepted models to the list and also expanded it by adding the Demio's. If I've missed anything all other variants of listed models (apart from sedan/wagon variants such as the Civic Ferio) are also allowed.

Sadly, I don't have any car modified for this challenge... :(

My game has just the save which has no license done....

I tried the Pulsar and it's really a bad car - It's too heavy, and the AWD works against it on this track. I tried the Starlet and found it much better, a very nimble FWD with better acceleration than the Pulsar thanks to not only having a smaller turbo, but also being lighter. The downside is that it LOVES to go on two wheels.

Time uploaded, I used Mirage Cyborg R. I checked detailed specs of several cars, I love how you can verify tire sizes and wheelbase dimensions all in one place.

And 'Spot Race > Test Run' is the best path to do this round as you can run unlimited number of laps, as oppose to standard Time Trial mode. I almost forgot how fun this game was, I'm glad I joined today.

Have you tried installing cheaper exhaust parts? They may deliver less power, but you should receive better torque output on lower revs. I tried Pulsar today (both with max and reduced HP, short gear ratio) and it was very fast. There shouldn't be any problems, just make sure to keep the revs above 6000 (although it was vital enough around 5000 too).

Here's my lap time. I have used the Toyota Starlet Glanza V.

My Starlet is regular and not racing modified. However, if I don't get better with Nissan Pulsar GTi-R '91, then this will be my final time.

Just did your challenge; I am really impressed with my Demio GL-X!

Got a time of.. 0:33:875

Edit:

The PULSAR is actually fast; I just now tried it with low end power parts. It just depends on what part configuration you would use. Please do not count this as it is part of a test to see if it really lags a lot.

For quick access to credits, buy either used RX-7 or Supra and run the first race of Normal Cup (Autumn Mini Reverse). If you win, you get 50,000 credits in less than four minutes. Exit the Cup and repeat the race as many time as you need.

Put the stock exhaust on the Pulsar which didn't make much difference but got a slightly better time

I tried the EG6 Civic and it's definitely a better car than the Starlet, as it has the bonus of having more power while also being naturally aspirated, eliminating turbo lag. Here's what I managed with it:

Inspired after Spanish Grand Prix qualification session! My final time, I couldn't do it better, sadly (for me ofc).

I did try the Civic 3door Si stock and compared it to the other starter cars, and for whatever reason it is the second best starter car, which I never really bought the Civic to start out with, but it was always the old Supra.

Isn't Toyota Supra Turbo '88 allowed? I have the Supra Turbo '88.
What are the stock specs for it? Can't find the car in the GT1 car list on GT Wikia, just the Supra Turbo A '88 (which has 267HP) that I think would be a bit too fast compared to the rest of the cars. The Supra GT Turbo Limited '86 has been added.

The Toyota Supra Turbo A '88 has 239 BHP. The Supra Twin R Turbo has 276 BHP.

First attempt. Correct 1st sector, some mistakes in 2nd and 3rd. MR2 is very oversteer, but I enjoy driving it a lot! Brilliant car.

PS. I think GT1 or old F1 point system (9-6-4-3-2-1) will be better. :D

Jason, I don't want to be rude, but I noticed that Matej has sent a lap time with his Mitsubishi Mirage at Round 1 before the Round 1's deadline had closed...
