Gran Turismo 4 Modding Discussion

Any possibility of adding the power multiplier to car setting? For those unaware, it may seem that this can only be used temporarily in Arcade mode, but there is a hidden address on the Retail version that can be modified to change it. I am not sure though if PD kept or removed it from the Beta version.

It is an 8-bit value address at 0x00A1F933 with a value of 0x64 (100). It is for the car currently selected in garage slot 1.

@TheAdmeister

When trying out the 1.06.1 update, I noticed there is now lag when changing pages in the garage. Am I the only one having this issue?

I have also spotted another issue; When you read the car information in the garage, the cursor stays in the same spot. While it it fine for most cars, it also works for cars that have no information. I read the information on one car, then backed out and went to the Ford Model T and the cursor was selected on the same spot, and when I pressed X it showed a blank pop-up window with no information.

The Mazda MX-5 (NC) '05 is still considered a special concept car and can't be entered into any events. Is this intentional or is supposed to be now treated as a normal car? Just wondering, would be nice if I could use it events :).

Is there a way to disable the ghost car in Arcade>Time Trial>B-Spec Mode?

@TheAdmiester

I found another issue. If I reset the controls to default, the right analog stick acceleration/braking is lost and only the X button works. I changed the ghost car toggle to L2 and then used the reset to default option in the controls and that is how it happened.

Thankfully I had not saved afterwards so I can revert but I thought you should know. I am not sure if this issue is related to only this mod and/or the Retail and non-modified OPB versions.

I don't have any suggestions or improvements, I just wanted to give one piece of massively positive feedback that I have:

The onboard camera is transformative for slower cars. I don't know if it's the placement, or the FOV, or what, but it makes throwing say the C3 around Laguna Seca at 80mph in B-10 way faster feeling than the sedate trundle it comes off as using the base game cameras.

I agree, not with this particular car, but with any slower cars. Especially when you adjust the FOV in the 'monitor' settings - I recommend you and anyone else to tweak the settings as it makes a big difference in sense of speed of all the cars.

Is anyone have a problem with the car top speed?? I notice this when im using escudo pikes peak with an turbo upgrade to 1056Hp but when im racing with it it could only reach a 205Mph max top speed. Which is weird since i remember the OG version could go to 300+Mph Easly, and it happen to with other car like max out Viper GTS with 914Hp with 215Mph max is this a part of balancing on spec ii mod or is this a glitch from either my game or my emu?

Its a great mod, loving it so far,

A breath of fresh air,

The only thing i find issues with is weird controller handling,

Much more difficult to control the cars campared to gt7,

Gt4 had the very best career mode of all time,

Just imagine if we could have that as mod for gt7😃

Guys, I have to say, this Spec 2 mod is the best thing that happened in a while. There's just one little thing that keeps me from enjoying this. They did something to the roof camera. Now the roof camera uses digital dashboard by default, and you always start from the bumper camera. I thought about this change more than I should. I don't understand why it works like this. The roof camera was the camera I primarily used in GT4 for all those years, it was the camera of my childhood. Now it is broken and gives me the uncanny valley effect. Has anyone found a way to restore the original roof camera?

1.06.1 seems to have caused the Pontiac Sunfire concept car to cause immense lag when it's displayed, even on the stronger of my PC's when on the screen.

Try setting blending accuracy to medium or lower (depending on your specs). I had this exact issue since 1.0 but that change solved it for me. It's seems related to the game and not the mod itself. (Had similar issues with other games)

PCSX2, nothing to do with the mod.

This was a change that GT4 Online made, and assigning the gauges to different cameras is more difficult than it might appear. As a workaround the Spec II settings menu has an option to set all cameras to digital or all cameras to analog, which while not ideal is at least better than nothing.

The Escudo has had its aero and tire grip modifiers bumped up to GT7 levels but that should be the only car with an actual aero tweak so far.

@TheAdmiester

My brother updated from 1.02 to 1.06.1 and when entering the garage it froze up on him. I tried the profile and it worked for me on my SCPH-70012 The only difference is his PS2 is a DECKARD 90001 model, so maybe this latest (as of this post) update somewhat breaks things for DECKARD PS2's. The game was run through OPL from USB.

He created a new profile though and it seems to work fine. I myself noticed a few days ago that RAM addresses have shifted as of 1.06.1 and some RAM codes no longer work and need to be re-found so to speak. ASM codes work fine though.

I've been wondering if there's a mod that removes or heavily reduces the turbo lag on the Escudo. To be fair I haven't tried it in GT4 in a while so I'm not sure if it's as intense as in GT7. Obviously the turbo lag is a core part of the Escudo in real life but I always wondered what it would be like without the turbo lag.

Stock turbos don't actually do anything and are modelled into the torque curve, so there's no way to "remove" it short of making a guess at how the engine would perform without it.
LOL wow what an interesting choice too! I wonder if it's that hard to do in GT4 then?
Not possible in GT4.

Was it intentional to lock the Event Synthesizer behind getting the IB License in GT4 Spec II? Or was it caused by copying the Extreme Hall icon on the map and forgetting to remove the requirement and is considered a bug?

Unrelated, they have individual scripts behind them and I could've locked it behind anything I liked. Event synth can be quite rewarding for short races so it was a conscious decision to lock it behind some progression.

Ah, that makes sense, I assume it's also locked when selecting the track yourself too. (Such as in the World Circuits and Original Circuits menus).

@TheAdmiester Do we already have or are there plans for a hybrid code list?
I've tried to use existing ones from the retail version but they don't work clearly. I suspect there are codes somewhere as the GT4 save editor works with the save file but I play GT4 on my mobile alot and find it much more handy to to be able to hybrid on the fly.

I don't really do any hybridding so I don't have any plans in that regard. As far as I know hybrid "codes" are just car part IDs from the database so I'm sure someone will figure something out in time.
