GTPlanet presents: the road to E3

Fake news > Fights > Tokyo R246 videos > Fake news > Fights > Fake Messiah's > False alarms > More Tokyo > More Fights > E3.

It's gonna be a bumpy ride until june...

, I'd rather see fights than Tokyo videos again...

GTP (internet)Fight club, I'm sure RedSuinit would participate, see his sig. ;)

How will it finish forza?

Let me put it this way I will be utterly amazed if FM4 is ever released.

Apart from rushing FM3, MS/Turn 10 made a massive mistake in trying to appeal to the casual gamer and ignoring the loyal fanbase. When you do this your asking for trouble and short term gain means long term loss.

I can assure you the loyal forza fanbase are seriously annoyed at Turn 10 and many have abandoned FM3. The number of players online is often below 1000 and the state of the leaderboards is even worse. On FM2 there used to be 100,000s of entries but some of the LBs on FM3 are less than a 1000. The reasons for this is down to bugs/glitches, silly penalty system, AWD dominating, and apart from LeMans, Camino, Kaido the tracks are exactly the same as FM2.

Going back to why I think the Forza franchise is finished and their are other reasons. Firstly there are many forza fans who have now decided to buy a PS3 and wait for GT5 due to being disappointed with FM3. Also the next game Turn 10 are developing is PGR and not Forza 4.

So in summary the combination of the forza fanbase leaving FM3, Turn 10 developing PGR, GT5 being released soon, is why I feel Forza 4 will never be released.

This is why I continue to be impressed with Sony's insistence on playing the long game.

It probably works out about the same for MS and Sony, it's just a different philosophy. Now all we have to do is convince politicians and multinational mega-corp.s to do the same...

 Aw, cmon Dan, you know you like me. I bring humor, and logical arguments to the table. If it was meaningless dribble then I would hope everyone hates me. (I don't think they do, but who knows I might just be a useless prude in everyones eyes, maybe my arguments are dumb and meaningless after all)

There are also a lot of GT5 fans giving up on waiting for it, & are turning to FM3. This argument works both ways & there are plenty of threads here to support it. One is even at the top of the page.

You'd have an argument if this was even remotely true, but it isn't. Not all of Turn10 is working on what people believe is PGR5; they've said before they can split the teams.

Forza 4 will be released, though. They wouldn't have come out with it if they were going to decide, "LOL JK GUYZ!"

You're a nice guy. ;)

@Dracwolley: Yeah, many people still play GT4 nowadays, I was playing this morning and reaching 8% of completion, when my save file corrupted again... :grumpy:

Nothing compares to a Nurb 4h enduro... :), I've considered buying a XBOX and Forza 3 more than twice during the last week, however, why would I waste money in a game I've already played and didn't like at all, i've spent just about 30 minutes with the game and it's nothing like GT,considering the game dynamics and physics, GT4 is far better in my opinion. Forza have a nice car collection, I must recognize and praise it for that.

Oh trust me, there are so many things that could be improved with that system.
Well, but I didn't mean improvements. I meant doing something else entirely. Like say, the skinning process you use to create liveries in PC games, when you open up the skin in an art program like Photoshop. This is really awkward until you get used to it, because the skin is squashed to a flat sheet, and the curves of the car model distort the skin a bit. So you have to use the existing livery as a guide to making your own graphics on it, because it's going to reshape itself when you lay it back on the car. Often, you have to try several times if you attempt an intricate livery.

The Forza system is beautiful, if a bit buggy on the XBoxes, with car models that will occasionally give you fits, trying to figure out why layers are misbehaving. But the system of giving you vinyl shapes which you can resize, stretch and skew, give you a lot of power to create very complicated liveries with it.

I do hope GT5 gives us a similar system, because I'm used to dragging shapes around. But if they do something different, I won't complain, as long as I can use my imagination to create liveries from scratch. Window graphics would be nice too.

Nobody answered my question, so I can only guess you're all just assuming GT5 will be at E3, and more to the point, you're expecting a bucket load of new stuff at E3, and that there's a good chance you'll all be disappointed.:P

Sony said it would be coming out this year for sure, E3 is the biggest game event of the year, its Sony's biggest game. There is going to be a lot there.

This.

**And if all we get is a trailer, then we're in for some serious trouble.**

However, I imagine a lot of info to appear at E3 '10, if not ALL GT5 info. It's the right time, the right place, and I am very ready to be surprised.

This E3 is going to be quite huge for Sony, and GT5 isn't Sony's biggest game. There's still Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Socom 4, The Agent, and many more. Quite a lot of big games are going to be in there, GT5 isn't the only big game Sony has...

But on the other hand...GT5 is the game that will most certainly sell the most out of all those games I mentioned above (and most probably the most expensive as well), so a good demonstration of the game is pretty much demanded to be shown at E3 if Sony is really planning on releasing it this year.

April Fool's joke? You're a bit late!

GT5>>>>>>>>The rest you mentioned.

Yeahh, for me as well. But you still have to remember that this generation of consoles is completely ruled by shooters and they are going to sell big numbers while costing less developing compared to a game like GT5. So yeah, for Sony, the games I mentioned, altogether, are probably more profitable than GT5 alone while the development costs being about the same.

Ya, it is Sony's biggest game, they do have other big games like you mentioned, but it is the biggest. When talking about a Companies biggest game, the one that has the most followers, meaning most sales, is their biggest game.

Their $60 million budget is pretty close to going even at the moment, so those 8-12 million copies they sell will be at almost max profit. The other games can't compare with GT5's sales. The only other game on the market that does this really is MS's Halo, those two games are pretty much alone at the top. Not counting Wii games.

When you say big, I think of profit. With over 50 million copies sold, Gran Turismo is the highest selling franchise for Sony.

So if ONE game is stressed at E3, it should be Gran Turismo 5. Nonetheless, I recognize KZ3 as a potential HUGE game, and the same can be said in regard to Socom 4 and Resistance 3. But again, those games don't have much to show for yet (except maybe Socom 4, which is scheduled to release later this year).

Either way, a title as BIG as GT5 requires BIG attention. This is the time. This is the stage. This is it. It has to be.

In Kazunori We Trust.

I don't want to get into a whole online fight, but I think that the game that gives a corporation the most profit in the end, is their biggest game. Meaning a ratio of sales with development costs. I'm sure that GT5 will EASILY make more money than the $60mil it cost to make (it was $60 million right? I'm not certain...) but it might not be the most profitable to the whole corporation, Sony, in the end. That's all I'm saying.

Only time will tell, we are only making wild guesses...we can't be sure of anything at this time.

I don't say we will ever know for sure if it would be Sony's most profitable game, but like I put in my previous post they should be pretty close to a break even point before the game even ships due to Prologue, profit on GT5 won't be a problem

That $60 million GT5 budget has been pretty much covered by Prologue. GT5 sales will be pure profit, and we know it'll sell damn well. So it'll probably be the most profitable as well.

Yes, true. But that can be a good thing. :)

As we sit on this cusp of uncertainty, I find a lot of pleasure. How do I explain it? Hmmmm. Well, the fact that we do not know what will become of E3 intrigues me in many ways. Silence can be golden and silence can be hell. In this case, I think the latter will be proven false.

I am not sure why Killzone 2 and Resistance 1 and 2 were hyped so much.
Killzone 2 I enjoy the Online MP sometimes and the graphics, but he story is so excuse me S*&T I laugh at most of the plot. Resistance 1 on the other hand is the most bland and ugly game I have seen in a long time, while resistance 2 just looks like a Ps2 game with AA, AF and some serious over saturation of colours to make up for the single colour resistance 1 was.

SOCOM is probably going to be good but I couldn't give a dam about it just like I dont care about MAG.
On a side note, how is MAG selling? because that + maybe a million is what SOCOM 4 will sell like.

I would just like to kindly remind folks that all lot of GT4's content was unknown right up until the game was released. This is just the way PD works.

Although if I were to take a realistic guess at what PD is going to show at E3 I would say we will see more of Nascar, more on rally as a showcase for damage, a small preview of weather, and a small preview of the online system.

Rofl if that's all we get, 1 year to get an extension of last years footage. It was amazing last year tbh because I wasnt expecting much, but a year on after that trailer I think many people are expecting the real deal. To me it looks like this is shaping up to be one of the best E3's, best one to me was 2004. Not because GT5 is going to be there but because if it isn't I cant forget i'm getting a new Zelda game :).

Halo? Nah not really, their sales have never hit GT levels (full GT games). GTA series is up there (and even exceeding).

And don't forget about Mario and friends :scared:

Honestly I dont think anything will compete with Mario in terms of sales, the way Miyamoto has established that thing there is no way of knocking it off.
You are also forgetting Pokemon :P, yes as worn out as it may seem, I think its the Number 2 selling franchise of all time, with Pokemon Silver and Gold remakes opening last week I think with around 850,000 copies sold, not to mention Japan had the launch last year, so Pokemon still sells about 2 million during the opening week...

Halo 3 sold 10 million units. Expect Halo 4 to sell like 15 million units. GT4 also sold 10 million copies so its gonna be a head to head competion. However, Sony will profit more simply because the 33% of people who wil buy gt5 don't have a ps3

According to vgchartz the best selling ps3 game is cod mw2 (7 million). If GT5 is as successful as gt4 (10 million) i expect it be the new PS3 best seller!!!!

It all depends on what PD have done with their 5 years...so let's just wait and see what happens nothing/

This happens every year, we build ourselves into a frenzy talking about how Sony will surely blow us away at gaming conference X, then it sucks, and the next day we start building into a frenzy over the next gaming conference. With the way PD and Sony have handled themselves during this development cycle, personally I think it's crazy to assume anything will be shown until somebody says so. Just setting yourself up for a big let down. (again)
