April Fool's joke? You're a bit late!

GT5>>>>>>>>The rest you mentioned.
Being pedantic, GT5 isn't greater than anything yet because it has not been released. Sure, based on history the Gran Turismo franchise has been very successful, and it's fair to assume GT5 will follow that trend, but then again, this is the first time a GT release has become a complete and utter joke!

Sony doesn't care about KZ3, Socom 4 or whatever else is on the horizon (at least not this year). GT5 is their baby and 2010 is their beginning.

And to cobra, yes, I was speaking in terms of profit. Read some more!;)

Killzone 2 I enjoy the Online MP sometimes and the graphics, but he story is so excuse me S*&T I laugh at most of the plot. Resistance 1 on the other hand is the most bland and ugly game I have seen in a long time, while resistance 2 just looks like a Ps2 game with AA, AF and some serious over saturation of colours to make up for the single colour resistance 1 was.
Wow, I don't agree with this at all. For one thing, a blasted city is reduced to dingy shades of brown and gray. For the plot, I'm not sure what other plot a war game is supposed to have. What was the plot of a Halo game? What was the "plot" of World War II?

I've heard people say that Ferrari Challenge looks like a PS2 game with bloom. I know the average PS3 game is unbelievably cool looking, and GT5 is going to set a bar that may only be beat by GT6, but good grief, some of you. No perspective whatsoever...

I would just like to kindly remind folks that all lot of GT4's content was unknown right up until the game was released.
Now this isn't true. At E3 2004, we learned a lot about GT4, and it wasn't going to be released for nine months. In TGS we learned a bit more. In fact, we learned almost everything except we didn't know there was going to be no race mod, sadly. Now this time around, I expect to have a lot of information on us, but I expect that there's so darn much content that they can hold some surprises back, and we'll still have a ton to absorb.

By the way, GT4 was the biggest selling PS2 game for the first six months after it's release, and I expect something similar with GT5. I expect it to sell, as I've been saying, like tacos.

By content I meant cars and tracks. Not so much features. Also when those features were reveals it was not in great detail.

I am not sure why Killzone 2 and Resistance 1 and 2 were hyped so much.

SOCOM is probably going to be good but I couldn't give a dam about it just like I dont care about MAG.
On a side note, how is MAG selling? because that + maybe a million is what SOCOM 4 will sell like.

Resistance 1 is to me and many others, the best PS3 FPS to date. No, it doesn't look that great, although the monotone look of the game was there to serve a purpose, one you missed. Killzone looked great but didn't live up to the hype. RES2 was just bad overall.

K2 had its moments; but nevertheless I do believe GT5 is sony's ace in the hole and they're betting it will make them A LOT of money. If I were a betting man I'd bet on GT5 :)

It's a really safe bet, too. It's easily Sony's biggest franchise, and is the biggest console-exclusive franchise that isn't made by Nintendo.

There's a reason why Sony has given Polyphony 60 million dollars to make this game, it's not just going to sell in absolutely massive numbers, but it's going to move a whole ton of consoles.

The first GT was the game that took the Playstation from being merely popular to being the dominant console for two generations. Gran Turismo is what established Sony as a console manufacturer and Playstation as a brand.

Not a fan of Halo lol. With Killzone 2 im mostly referring to the awful characters, the 2 guys with you are what I like to call 'too manly' :P some of their reactions are just beyond dumb, I do love the game though, great game clocked up so many hours in Online and still do.
The resistance graphics engine in my eyes is far from being true 'next' gen, it looks ok rendering Ratchet and Clank, but even with a Crack in time I was extremely disappointing to see the more cartoon style they went for and it left the game lacking proper shadowing and real time lighting.

Gran Turismo 5 looks great but I was comparing resistance to the majority of PS3 games, there is so many that look good, Uncharted 2, God Of War 3 (Albeit inconsistent but great looking nonetheless), Final Fantasy 13, Killzone 2 , Formula one championship edition and heck even Little Big planet is really great looking. Resistance just lacks it in comparison to any of those, and im dissapointed that a company like insomniac isnt up to snuff when they have shown they can be the last 2 gen's.

Well, as someone who was in the military, I can tell you that those characteristics aren't exaggerated very much. Now Gears... that was stupid. And I agree with you about the odd style of A Crack in Time. Insomniac went too far towards Pixar cartoonishness. I hope the next R&C game is more like the first Future game.

Ahhh Im glad I wasnt the only one who thought Tools Of Destruction looked better, I was impressed by that game in 2007 really nice lighting and smoothness but when I started up a crack in time :S It looked far from the first.

It all depends on what PD have done with their 5 years...so let's just wait and see what happens nothing/

It's going to be fun to compare what 5 years will achieve.

Why? Well, the original GT took 5 years and GT5 too. Well, GT5 will have taken over 5.5 years when it's released. But you get the idea.

To be perfectly honest, this wait is bad but when we got the March 2010 date it seemed like absolutely ages away, and that soon came and went so I don't see a problem. Even E3 seems a long way away but I bet it will come quicker than expected.

It sure will, but development time in years doesn't really mean much. It's the cumulative man-hours that the game took, and with the GT5 team massively outnumbering the original development team, the differences are almost incomparable.

That date does line up with remarks made by people from SONY Europe, and one to one of our mods. And it does work pretty well with a holiday launch scheme. And this time, PD could have put the delay to good use, shortening any regional release differences. All the reasons for the delay by region, whether translation, localizations such as music, licensing of brands and other matters, could have been done ahead of time.

Wouldn't almost any date in late september, october, and november line up with what sony EU said?
The problem isn't the fact the date is false, for all we know it might be the real date, it's the fact that it's just another retailer announcing a release date with no official word from any one that matters. PLay and whatever other retailer announced this, isn't really going out on a limb giving this date. If they announced it in January/febtuary, the story would be different.

never trust play.com i preordered gt5 ages ago with them saying i would get it in sep 08

A retailler will not know a release date prior to a title being confirmed with one.
Its sheer speculation nothing more....

Its easy to speculate but lets look at what Sony have said....

GT will be one of the first games to have 3DTV support.
PS3 3DTV update is due in 2x configurations 1x Game & 1x Blu Ray - Announced as Summer 2010
Sony are a bit behind some other brands in launching 3DTVs. The timeframe is Summer June/July 2010. June for UK & USA has been announced with either June or July for Japan depending where you read the news. E3 is June oh what a coincedence and surely will act as Sonys big entrance to showing off its 3D tech and GT5 HAS to be a large part of that, right? All signs are pointing to this being Sonys biggest E3 in many years.

It is highly unlikely Sony will release their 3DTVs and not follow it up quickly with the release of GT5. Its clear the two go hand in hand for their marketing but of course this doesnt mean a September release date isnt a possibility neither. However it is very much likely GT5 is June-September launch window more so than a fall 2010 launch window title.
We have had rumours of Summer 2010 from Sony officals reported on this very site since last year as well.

Everything points to a Summer period from where Im sitting.
Importantly 3DTV seems to be the closest connection as PS3 is a massive part of Sonys plans/success and GT5 is Sonys most popular franchise so no better title/combination could be used to promote all those products!

Ask yourseleves when was the last time a game took almost 6 years to develop and release?
When was the last time so much new hardware focus in 3DTV/PS3 Eye/Move was being touted to be supported in a single new upcoming title?
GT5 is a massive sales driver in not only the game itself but as even announced on the recent front page news a title people will buy hardware just to play it.

Without sounding like some GT nut job going off my trolley.
Clearly this game GT5 seems to be one of the biggest releases ever for Sony and is it any wonder its been delayed so long as the game itself is maybe not even the delay at all but other factors regarding Sonys hardware and marketing.

I think you are right about one thing - the delay is not due to the game being in a state unfit for release. Other hardware like 3DTV could be playing a part, but I now look back on the reason given for the delay being "production issues". They just didn't say production of what, and I think that was the PS3. They knew they had a shortage coming, and releasing a popular game like GT5 would only add to that problem.

If Play.com announced GT5 for February, we wouldn't believe it.

Therefore, we listen to what we like to hear. September is a pleasant month, that's why some have gotten so giddy.

Well, it's not just wishful thinking. That date fits in with the pieces of information we've been given. SONY's 3DTVs will need some A class content to make them desirable. The PS3 needs a killer app to push holiday sales through the roof. So it makes sense that GT5 would be released as early as July and as late as October. September is a convenient mid-point, and marks the onset of holiday shopping season.

Another thing to consider is that there's no Forza coming to fake a launch for. This should be the long awaited time of glory.

The date looks attractive. It does. It if were a girl, she'd be a 10/10. But again, release dates from shops, websites, etc, mean nothing. Do you really think Play.com got official word from PD? Even if they did, how will we know for certain? We cannot.

But there is some.....something in the air. It's almost palpable. Perhaps its just hype or smog. But it's there. I think we are in for a treat. Or two. Or twenty.

At this point, all we're sure of is that it's a 2010 release. Right now, all I'm thinking about is "the sooner the better".

Well, I sort of agree with you, but obviously I'm one of the more patient people here on the boards. An August to October release would suit me, and the remaining months could result in dozens more cars, a feature polished or even another one included, and another track or three being stuffed in. And you can never have too many tracks. ;)

I'd give it a 2/10. Next week would be 10. June would be a 7.
