We only have one and that's replay, not gameplay. Either way I say wait until we get closer to release or new infos we'll get at Gamescom & TGS :)

Like I said, replay vids are usually better looking than gameplay vids. So why would you expect the cars to look better?

Again i want to see a video of someone selecting a STANDARD car driving on the track with all the views, call me desperate but i still feel we will have some type of cockpit view

That I won't argue with.

The photomode will consume my life again for sure. I spent way more time in the GT4 photomode than I did actually racing. Photomode was easily my favorite part of GT4. Thats one thing they truly nailed.

I was looking for old threads, and i found this:

Nobody ever understood this particular wind, but now i wonder if the sacrifices and differences are talking about the premium/strandard thing.

I don´t know if Amar received this messages cripted, or if he had solid info, but to me it´s still intriguing.

Reading now it totally makes sense with the standard/premium subject.

What do you guys think?

Actually I thought that was all pretty obvious :) and I think someone mentioned it in that thread.

It is probably referring to the Collectors Edition with "form already known" referring to the Non-Collectors Edition.

The future sacrifice thing, I figured that meant that people who buy the Collectors edition would not have to pay for DLC, but it looks like that may not be the case. Still getting it though.

You do get 5 free, might be DLC, cars with the CE.

You didn't understand what I mean. At this E3, all cars were premium. What I was saying is that I'm awaiting the upcoming events where GT5 will be presented so that the standard cars are present in a build so we can try them in a gameplay setting to see how they really look. I mean sure we got one replay video but that's it. And there are still months to go to release so yeah you can never tell how they'll really look until then.

Hope that clears it out for you.

Thats what im talking about 👍 I'm tired of some people getting info that is not even 100% and spreading it around. For now i will just wait tell i see video evidence.

Looks like a lot of people have already given up on a game that won't be released until November 2010 (at least). So let me try to be the positive thinker again.

You all know I STILL haven't played Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, nor own a PlayStation 3, right? This goes back to an argument during the wait for Gran Turismo 4. People already gave up on GT4 when the much-promised online play was eventually dropped. Once suicide rates doubled and tripled worldwide because of that news (exaggeration, of course), didn't we still get a great racing game when GT4 shipped? You can't let just damage, online play, major sports car makers, and interior views alone be the reason to get GT5. Veterans of Gran Turismo (including 10+ year veterans like myself) love Gran Turismo for the reasons that has made it such a success.

As for the Premium vs. Standard deal, I've stayed away from this because I'm not as certain about this myself. I'm not, however, flooding this thread with angry rants about something like this. I think some people make Standard (or let's use "non-Premium") like these are cars that have PlayStation 1-quality interiors (or a very early PS2 racing game interior). I don't care much about Premium vs. Standard- I just want to go race. I just want to own and tune cars. I just want to win races whether 2 laps around Autumn Ring Mini or 24 Hours at Le Mans. That, to me, is more important than worrying too much about interiors, damage, online options, and the like. I think going with past models from GT4 is probably a good move if you can't feature every last car with impressive modeling inside and out. I don't think this will be rushed like GT3 or full of missed execution like GT2. So I'm not negative in the least bit. I'm not going to say that it's inexcusable to spend so long to come up with such a lack of positive progress. EA Sports re-hashes a lot of their stuff and nobody seems to complain, so why with GT?

Maybe I'm too much of a big picture or minimalist thinker (I say that like it's a bad thing!). I think a lot of us just really miss the point of what makes certain games great. I've just always been a minimalist thinker with games. To explain the point a little more, here's a saying that somewhat captures the point- "beauty captures attention, but personality captures the heart." The heart of Gran Turismo is in great racing across a variety of international locales with cars from around the world. And think about this- 16 cars to a track and even time cycles. The time cycles alone HAVE to maintain interest, don't you think? People complained about no reverse lights- now we got them. Maybe you can complain on no skid marks. But still, a lot of us just tend to forget what makes certain games great rather than a bunch of features that make them such can't-miss games. I still believe this will be the hardest-hitting Gran Turismo EVER. Almost as if this game will be the racing equivalent of hard hits like in Madden NFL or even the old NFL Blitz games.

I still want to play and enjoy Gran Turismo 5. I wasn't too worried about cars from GT3 re-hashed for GT4, so why would I be truly disappointed with GT5 having certain GT4 models? The thing that I think a lot of people would make is that games that take years to create should be WORTH those years. We saw what happened with Malice. We saw what happened with Duke Nukem Forever. GT5, unlike the previous two titles, will still be loved and played for years to come until GT6. I think a lot of people are making Gran Turismo 5 out to be "GT4 with 200 'Special Cars'." I think when people become too frustrated with a game or a game series, they tend to dislike anything that doesn't seem to show any positive progress. Or at least, anything not even remotely resembling any far-fetched promises. I care more about racing and gameplay than I do any superficial claims. I'm not going to go on strike just because Gran Turismo 5 is somehow seen as a dud rather than a stud. Every game is going to have its shortcomings. The real issue of merit is how these shortcomings, if at all, plays a factor in how the final product will eventually be. Are these shortcomings to the point where GT5 somehow lost all of its magic and is simply just another racing game? Or, is it going to be a great racing game with some negative points we'll have to live with? GT4 didn't have online, but we still used the hell out of Photo Mode.

Long story short, there have been disappointments with recent news, but I still care about this game and still care about playing it. I'm as disappointed about the car deal as much as anyone, but I'm not going to go on strike at Polyphony Digital. I basically went to the latest page rather than read all or most of the pages and posts because I meant to talk about this as soon as I could. Anything I might have missed or any extra points I want to make, I'll just blog about them.
I'm not going to apologise for quoting such a long post because a lot of you guys should read this post and learn from it, John is right on the money and showing the right attitude here rather than over-dramatising it like it's something of apocalyptic proportions. What does it matter if the game is fun when it arrives. Sure it's a disappointment, I was expecting all the cars to be highly modeled works or art and no straight ports but that's life. In the videos there is a difference but they still look good. It's just a shame we don't have a cockpit view for them as well but the bumper views been good enough for the last 14 years of Gran Turismos existence so it's not something lost it's just something not gained in that regards. We still have gained damage, day/night cycles, larger grids, better physics, better AI and online racing. So it's not all doom and gloom. When GT5 arrives through my door I'm going to fire it up and I don't think the anticipation of my first race will be anything but high.

Realistically PD have only July, August and part of September to work on this. Assuming the demo shown at E3 was a few weeks old (4-5wks) and adding that time to the build....making the final remaining build time available to 3 months. How much more could be done, actually? Maybe debugging and the like? If the game hits stores in November then the code is final in, say mid to late September? Production, packaging and shippment taking 30-45 days??? (swag :dunce: for 3-5m copies at initial offering worldwide)

I would think, what we have seen will not change that much from what we will buy.

2cnts.

edit: Which I WILL buy and love......

We have seen the cars. We know what they look like. Them being in a gameplay video won't make them look better. And that was your whole point wasn't it, that hey might look better in game as opposed to a trailer. PD already made them as good as possible for the trailer because they knew people won' be happy.

Thats what im talking about 👍 I'm tired of some people getting info that is not even 100% and spreading it around. For now i will just wait tell i see video evidence.
So the video, pictures and articles are not proof enough for you? You need someone to post a poor quality video on youtube to be certain?

There are two reasons:
1. It takes an enormous amount of time to create a Premium car. A car with so much detail, both inside and out.
2. Not all car manufactures allow their cars to show extensive damage.

Edit> It should be possible to have Premium damage for one car and not for another in one and the same race, but I think PD have chosen not to do that. It would be strange to have a Premium car show extensive damage after a collision with a Standard car and that standard one only show some scratches.

Hmmm, I get that in terms of one car "coming off better than another", could mean that the manufacturers might stipulate that they don't want this to happen. But surely "Premium" has already separated out those manufacturers who don't want full-on damage - or will some premium cars also not get full deformation / "dislocation" ?? Could prove interesting in the coming months...

Anyway, I suppose it's only my wish that such a separation will not occur, since the difference is only superficial. I mean standard cars will still get dents, according to the official website. Whether PD will be at the behest of the manufacturers will remain to be seen.

EDIT:
@ Dave A
Thanks for that, I missed it in my frustration (see a few pages back )

D i will try to explain this to you again ok During the 24hour race at the burg their was footage of people driving premium cars. During those video the driver showed many views, this is what i am waiting for to see a live Standard car in action while somebody drives it I dont care about 50 second footage, even though i watched the footage and the cars dont look like crap. they are no where looking like the premium but far from crap. For those articles i dont care for them it has been said GT will only have 20 tracks and 70 varation. i have read some where in this forum how GT will have around 40 tracks and 100 variation. This was from a liable source.

It seems KY wants to show more stuff at GameCom and TGS

You know that GameCom and TGS are way more important than E3...

..:sly: ..."what's your favourite new features?" ... "ehm.. that is undisclosed"

weather man.. weather please..

Maybe the addition of sub-standard car class? I kid, i kid. But yeah my bet is on either livery editor or some form of weather effects, although I doubt they would be dynamic.

It's not that mate. I'm talking about context. The game is not released yet and the standard cars weren't in the E3 build and we only got to see them in replay video form, why do you think that is?

The context here is that I want to see how they'll look when we get to play with them. Hope you understand what I'm trying to convey here :P

At least the standard one looks good!!just my opinion..

In motion it really looks even better:)
Hehe like the "undisclosed"!
Of course there are still things coming we haven't seen..
And I'm already glad now with what I'm seeing ...
Can't wait!

Anybody else think that premium and standard cars will have their own separate mode in GT Mode?

I got a strong feeling that the two types of models may have their own separate championships.

But I do also hope and believe they'll be on the track at the same time.

I think that there may be a few races like that, hopefully not many though. I hope there wouldn't be a different mode though, that would disappoint me more than just having a few cars look better than others. :(

I also believe that they'll race together. 👍

Sorry, logic isn't supported on GTP right now, please try back in a few weeks.

I'm done pointing out the flaws in the haters responses, I'm just going to take another long break from GTP. I'll see you guys in August, have a great summer!

For me that standard car look good too. But others are not at the height of P-D.
If Standar cars quality stay like this one it's no probleme. The big probleme it's no cockpit view. It's a blasphemy for a simulation cars game.

I would prefer that PD reduced 800 of the standard cars to 150 or 200 and adds a cockpit view for every one of them. (without premium damage, for time.)

200 premimum and 200 standard but all with cockpit view. 👍

Take it easy guy,it's just a game!!:sly:
