People that thought I work for PD or Sony are not correct. If that was the case I won't have added my PSN to the account. Not stupid :).

I have and do work in the industry though. There are cases were preview code gets pressed and shipped. There are even cases were a game is cancelled during shipping (My copy of NBA Elite 11). Most of the time if preview code is retail pressed it is caught within 1500 copies by QA. Sometimes we mess up and send those to reviewers though. Mainly because they usually get the first 1000 off the line.

Since this was caught a little further in the stamping process they decided to delay the game and destroy first run copies. After that when 2nd press started PD rep was there to verify the version.

All this is very easy to fark up because you send Sony, MS, Nintendo and there pressing partners an was is basically an ISO from there Dev kits.

Wow that is crazy, so you are saying you know this is what happened?

I think most people understand things take time (and thanks for the videos you've posted already of course) but my main comment was directed at Tekken and RDK.

However, the vids that you and others have posted are causing a lot of interest and comment - and not all the comment is positive.

I think the reason for that is down to the lack of data about what these videos are showing.

As far as I can tell, they have all been taken from the Arcade mode, with various driving aids used and in one case a selection of "Medium" (not sure what this medium referred to though AI maybe?).

As a result of these videos, people are concluding that damage is removed, dirt-sticking is removed, and in some extreme cases that the videos are of bad copies of the game.

If the videos are clearly annotated as Arcade mode with aids, using pad etc then probably most of this furore would not have occurred.

NB: I base this opinion on the scan of the manual which included a description of the Arcade mode as allowing 2 player racing - so I guess the Arcade mode is restricted in terms of visuals and physics to allow for split screen besides the obvious "Arcade" (therefore light game) tag.

Rotor.

I see.

Well, all i can say, that this GT5 is maybe not what most of you hoping it will be. I'am a bit disappointed, it's just not feel the "complete package" as the previous games in the series felt. Something is missing... for example 800 more detailed cars than their Ps2 versions... And the Deep Forest stage... Not even 2d trees sometimes, just extremely low-res textures on the "wall"... and the rocks... oh god.

The first PREMIUM car what you will see in the licence tests and therefore in the GT mode, have the most squared steering wheel i've seen since the late '90s. Other cars steering wheele are fine though...

And you'll see more annoying things like that, and not because it's not the final version. It is.

Certainly not up to the GT standards if you look the whole picture. :guilty:

They really need the "PS4" and another 5 years to finish this game to come close to Kazunori's vision. :nervous:

really interesting.... thanks! So you're sure that the 2nd press process uses a different version of the game?

Yes as far as I can find out. Which means if those are leak copies of the first press...guess what...they will be worth a TON on eBay (if PD or Sony allows the auction to go threw).

So you don't work for PD/Sony/Their manufacturer or shipper, yet you can confirm that it was a stamping error? Got proof?

None that would make any skeptics happy :). I have my Retail Copy coming the 23rd so I guess we will have to wait and see. A week will fly by. At that point we can compare version numbers. Until then I can't give you info on how I know.

I work for a Pub but not Sony or PD but that doesn't mean I don't know some of those guys. Plus stories between groups fly around pretty quick in the Dev world. Either way you can take my story or leave it. Doesn't affect my day :) .

2 conspiracy theories. yeah, I can't stop! :)

the first:
what if this "November the 2nd" delay was due to the decision to "downgrade" GT5 (make simplier damage, cut some tracks and etc). Remember Kazunori (in one of interviews with him) said that there was not enough power to create the game he had planned.. hmmm? hmmm?
and this "this feature is not available in this version" is something PD overlooked during "downgrading" THE game.

the 2nd theory: the delay was needed to plan, to organize this nice marketing campaign with leaked fake "full" games and stuff.

and who doesn't have internet.. can't play the game. i don't think so.

exactely.
so the only other possibility I can think of would be a connection to the ps3 system clock, that some things get unlocked after release date. But you guys have probably thought of and checked that days ago right???
very unlike anyways.

i very highly doubt that they would risk this to the clock of the ps3 for obvious reasons such as people adjusting it so easily, just doesnt make sense.

also i dont believe in any "conspiracy theories" and will take the game as it comes on the 24th to my doorstep. If features have been left out, then ill kick up a fuss asking why they would have removed them or have a slight little giggle if the versions we have seen so far are not complete :)

either way, bring on the 24th!

VTAK!!!!!

what!! uh uh oh no he didnt ......foreal?

T6 years and they release some crap!

i wouldnt call gt5 "some crap" but im highly suprised they have 800 standard gt4 ported cars on a console such as the ps3, but as kaz said its restricted him in his efforts, but arguably any system will.... 💡

Serverfull thanks for your info. Do you know, assuming the stamping process took place in China how these early copies seem to have made their way to the Czech Republic only. Also, do you know the changes we will see in the final version and why this early copy seems to be incomplete.

But the million dollar question right now is this:

Is it possible that this early preview version did not have all features in?

(couple of tracks missing, pro mode, particle effects, damage). In the world of QA, would that be feasible?

Because right now i already believe that the czech guys have an early run of GT5, but when we play the final version the only thing that will be different is that we will be able to finish carrear mode and acess stuff like the museum.

Would it make sense for this version to have less stuff than the final game?

I don't know, I feel like devs. only say that "X" console restricted them only as a scapegoat when they mess up, not sure though and I hope that's not the case with Kaz and GT5. :scared:

For OUR sake, I hope you're right, but you understand that we can't just take some random person's word as truth around here now, especially this close to release with the activity picking up.

Here's to hoping!

I don't see the 307 CC video physics that arcady... Maybe it's me. Have in mind it's not a powerful car, anyway, so it should be easy to drive, just a bit understeering. And I see a bit of that understeering.

i obviously hope this is the case but the ONLY way we will know is come release day.... sorry to be a kill joy lol

likewise i hope this is not the case but cant help but feel gutted they ported cars over. of course its the physics of the game which really dictates its success but all the videos ive seen properly so far (in good quality) are premium cars, and i cant help but be awed by the interiors and atmosphere created by being inside the car. driving with a camera on the front bumper wasnt my typical idea of a next gen driving game.

I have not played anything other then PREVIEW code. I don't know how / what the changes are. Just like everyone I bought a retail copy. Having a chance to try other people's products is part of the fun. Either way I just hope the full version is great and they offer DLC for newer cars (esp since GT6 will be PS4 at this point) <--- that is a guess!!

Either way I have been waiting for a good Driving SIM Forza was OK but the MS Wheel SUCKS!! I just hope my G25 is well support or I will be ordering a 27.

Basically when you are developing you have groups working on different parts. Then you usually compile the code out and play it on a debug unit (which is a modified retail console that can run unsigned code on). When you compile your code out you usually time stamp the name. Example is gt5v10.111.11.05.10 (meaning GT5 Version 10.111 with a compile date of November 5th 2010). This are all stored on a server in the office. In this case you have hundreds working with maybe 15 lead programmers (they output the compiled code). There can be 15-30 builds on that server that have a timestamp around the same time.

Basically you have your Department Lead submit there final code to Sony for Authorization. They look for exploits and crashy code. Once they OK it it goes to Sony Publishing for there final OK. Once you have that OK you transfer the finished ISO (not an actually ISO but something that is only for Sony or MS or Nintendo). Usually this upload task is based on the latest build number. It is very easy to sort by Modified date and submit the wrong Build.

I can't 1000% promise that is how this went down because this wasn't told to me by my contact at PD. All he mentioned was someone messed up and the wrong game was pressed.

I just want to breakdown the process for you.

Pretty sure the G25 will work just fine. The biggest problem with the g25 is the lack of buttons. It was bad enough on F1, on GT5 it could be even more of a problem :nervous:

But it took them like two weeks to announce the new release date (November 24th.), does that mean that it took them two weeks to press like 1000-1500 disks of the wrong version before they realized that they have to delay the game again?

essentially then, can you ask him what was wrong with the version that was incorrectly stamped and what may be different in the retail copy? just a thought and cheers for the insight into the process :)

To surprise us all. That would be typically Japanese to do. :sly:

Yes, that's the thought too many have on their minds, and are going to get disappointed... :)

Could expect that from Kaz, but let's not forget that we are talking about a huge company called Sony that's selling a product and trying to make as much profit as possible. It just wouldn't make any sense. I very much doubt that even Kaz has that much authority...

How long have you been playing it? Isn't it a bit too early to judge the "whole picture"?
